  • As a part of electro-mechanical totally implantable artificial heart, a transcutaneous energy transmission system has been developed. By mutual magnetic induction between the first coil on the skin and the subcutaneously implanted second coil, the system transfers electrical power through the skin. This research aimed a minimizing the size of the implanted part as well as maximizing the transfer efficiency. When an air gap is 1$\sim$2cm, voltage gain and current gain low and it is hard to transfer energy due to large leakage flux. That is, the required input voltage and input current must be large compared with the output voltage and output current, respectively, This paper research the inverter topology and the control method in order to increase the voltage gain and the current gain. For this purpose, this inverter employs double tune to compensate the large leakage inductance of primary and secondary of the transcutaneous transformer. And the output energy of transcutaneous energy transmission system supply for Lithium-ion battery charger.

  • In this study, a low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric transformer for a DC-DC converter was manufactured using $(Pb,Ca,Sr,)(Ti,Mn,Sb)O_3$ ceramics. Its electrical properties were investigated according to the variation in frequency and load resistance. The voltage step-up ratio of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed a maximum value at a resonant frequency of input part and increased with an increase of load resistance. The efficiency of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the highest value at a load resistance of 17 $\Omega$. The output power was increased with increasing input voltage. Temperature increase of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was increased with the increase of output power. At the load resistance of 17 $\Omega$, the multilayer piezoelectric transformer showed the temperature rises of about $20^{\circ}C$ at the output power of 18 W, and stable driving characteristics.

  • In this paper, high-efficiency DC-AC converter is implemented for the wireless power transmission. The DC-AC converter is implemented by combining the oscillator and power amplifier. Because the conversion efficiency of wireless power transmitter is strongly affected by the efficiency of power amplifier, the high-efficiency power amplifier is implemented by using the Class-E amplifier structure. Also, because the output power of oscillator connected to the input stage of power amplifier is low, high-gain two-stages power amplifier using the drive amplifier is implemented to realize the high-output power DC-AC converter. The dual band harmonic suppression filter is implemented to suppress 2nd, 3rd harmonics of 13.56 MHz. The output power and conversion efficiency of DC-AC converter are 40 dBm and 80.2 % at the operation frequency of 13.56 MHz.

  • Linear GMR isolator which is profitable for transmitting analog signal was modeled and the output voltage and current in relation to the input current were investigated. GMR isolator modeling was divided into two parts, namely magnetic and electric parts. The flow chart of the modeling was drawn in which the MR curve of the spin valves were incorporated to obtain the electrical voltage output. For magnetic modeling, 3-dimensional model of planar coil was analyzed by FEM method to obtain the magnetic field strength corresponding to the input current. Coil efficiency of the planar coil having magnetic core layer was shown to have about 1.5 times larger than that of the coil without the magnetic core layer. The feedback coil current(output current) corresponding to the input coil current was calculated to be within ${\pm}$0.25 mA of the linear fitting function of I$\_$out/= I$\_$in/-5 mA. Also, the response time and output waveforms were obtained when the coil current was a rectangular waveform. The rise time and fall time was 6 ${\mu}\textrm{s}$, respectively when the slew rate of the op-amp was 0.3 V/${\mu}\textrm{s}$.

  • This paper provides performance evaluations of various channel estimation schemes for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system under a fixed reception environment. ATSC 3.0 MIMO system can obtain high spectral efficiency and improved reception performance compared to conventional terrestrial broadcasting systems. The ATSC 3.0 MIMO defines Walsh-Hadamard and null pilot encoding algorithms and the amplitude and phase of MIMO pilots are different from those of single-input single-output pilots. At the receiver, linear and discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based interpolations can be used for the channel estimation. This paper provides the various combinations of the interpolation schemes for channel estimation in time and frequency dimensions, and then analyzes the performance of the various combinations through the computer simulation. The results of computer simulation show that the combination of the linear interpolation in the time dimension and then DFT-based interpolation in the frequency dimension can obtain the best performance among the considered combinations.

  • This paper evaluated the relative efficiency of 33 provincial medical centers using Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) and compared the DEA efficiency results with those of the current method conducted by the management evaluation team. DEA Was selected as an alternative efficiency evaluation method since it could handle multiple inputs and multiple outputs simultaneously and identify the sources of inefficiency. To analyze the sensitivity of productivity values to the variable sets, four different sets of input and output variables were identified. Results showed that most of the medical centers are operating far away from the efficiency frontier supporting the previous results. Some centers showed 100% efficiency regardless of the selected variable sets. DEA results are compared with current management evaluation results. Some inconsistencies were found for some DMUs between the results of two methods showing the existence of methodology bias. DEA results and ratio analyses results mostly agree for 1992 data.

  • Safe, fast, efficient and effective railway is a main factor of economic development level of every country. This paper uses the DEA method to evaluate and compare the efficiency of 12 Regions of RAI. In addition, we introduce the reference(s) unit(s) for every inefficient region, and determine the amount of input decrease and/or output increase need to become them efficient. Findings indicate that in 2006, 4 regions of 12 are in Constant Return to Scale (CRS) status and 7 of them in Variable Return to Scale (VRS), and the average efficiency is 0.730 and 0.888, respectively. In other words, RAI works 27 percent under its capacity. More over results indicate that Hormozgan, Khorasan, Tehran and Isfahan Regions have the most efficiency respectively. The results show that the 8 regions, have been working in Increaser Return to Scale and 4 reminder Regions in Decrease Return to Scale. According to this results, we submit the suitable suggestion for improve the efficiency of the inefficient regions.

  • The paper aims to estimate efficiency of watermelon by using a bootstrapping approach to generating efficiency estimates through Monte Carlo simulation resampling process. We use the input-output data for watermelon 107 farmers. The main results are as follows. The estimates of efficiency depends on the methodology. The estimates of general DEA is greater than the bootstrapping method. The technical efficiency and pure technical efficiency measure of watermelon is 0.72, 0.82 respectively. However the bias-corrected estimates are less than those of DEA. We know that the DEA estimator is an upward biased estimator. According to these results, the DEA bootstrapping model used here provides bias-corrected and confidence intervals for the point estimates, it is more preferable.
