고주파 유도결합 플라즈마의 전자에너지 분포함수 계측에 관한 연구 (A Measurements on the Characteristics of Electron Energy Distribution Function of Radio-Frequency Inductively Couples Plasma)

  • 본 연구에서는 푸로브법과 교류중첩법을 이용하여 고주파 유도결합 플라즈마에서 전자에너지 분포함수를 측정하였다. 실험조건은 압력 10∼40[mTorr], 입력파워는 100∼600[W]이고, 가스유량은 3∼12[sccm]이며, 전자에너지 분포함수의 공간분포 측정에 있어서 아스펙트비(R/L)는 2로 하였다. 전자에너지 분포함수는 압력 및 입력파워에 대하여 강한 의존성을 나타내었고, 가스유량이 증가할수록 증가 하였다. 전자에너지 분포함수의 반경방향 분포는 플라즈마 중심에서 최대가 되었다. 전자에너지 분포함수의 축방향 분포는 석영창과 기판 사이의 중심에서 최대가 되었다. 이러한 결과는 고주파 유도결합 플라즈마의 생성 메커니즘 이해와 간단한 ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma) 모델링 응용에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

Uncertainty investigation and mitigation in flood forecasting

  • Uncertainty in flood forecasting using a coupled meteorological and hydrological model is arisen from various sources, especially the uncertainty comes from the inaccuracy of Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts (QPFs). In order to improve the capability of flood forecast, the uncertainty estimation and mitigation are required to perform. This study is conducted to investigate and reduce such uncertainty. First, ensemble QPFs are generated by using Monte - Carlo simulation, then each ensemble member is forced as input for a hydrological model to obtain ensemble streamflow prediction. Likelihood measures are evaluated to identify feasible member. These members are retained to define upper and lower limits of the uncertainty interval and assess the uncertainty. To mitigate the uncertainty for very short lead time, a blending method, which merges the ensemble QPFs with radar-based rainfall prediction considering both qualitative and quantitative skills, is proposed. Finally, blending bias ratios, which are estimated from previous time step, are used to update the members over total lead time. The proposed method is verified for the two flood events in 2013 and 2016 in the Yeonguol and Soyang watersheds that are located in the Han River basin, South Korea. The uncertainty in flood forecasting using a coupled Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System (LDAPS) and Sejong University Rainfall - Runoff (SURR) model is investigated and then mitigated by blending the generated ensemble LDAPS members with radar-based rainfall prediction that uses McGill algorithm for precipitation nowcasting by Lagrangian extrapolation (MAPLE). The results show that the uncertainty of flood forecasting using the coupled model increases when the lead time is longer. The mitigation method indicates its effectiveness for mitigating the uncertainty with the increases of the percentage of feasible member (POFM) and the ratio of the number of observations that fall into the uncertainty interval (p-factor).

배터리 응용을 위한 1.5V 단일전원 256Kb EEPROM IP 설계 (Design of 256Kb EEPROM IP Aimed at Battery Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 MCU 내장형 1.5V 단일전원 256Kb EEPROM IP는 배터리 응용을 위해 설계되었다. 기존의 body-potential 바이어싱 회로를 사용하는 cross-coupled VPP (Boosted Voltage) 전하펌프회로는 erase와 program 모드에서 빠져나올 때 5V cross-coupled PMOS 소자에 8.53V의 고전압이 걸리면서 junction breakdown이나 gate oxide breakdown에 의해 소자가 파괴될 수 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 cross-coupled 전하펌프회로의 출력 노드는 VDD로 프리차징시키는 동시에 펌핑 노드들을 각 펌핑 단의 입력전압으로 프리차징하므로 5V PMOS 소자에 5.5V 이상의 고전압이 걸리지 않도록 하므로 breakdown이 일어나는 것을 방지하였다. 한편 256Kb을 erase하거나 program하는 시간을 줄이기 위해 all erase, even program, odd program과 all program 모드를 지원하고 있다. 또한 cell disturb 테스트 시간을 줄이기 위해 cell disturb 테스트 모드를 이용하여 256Kb EEPROM 셀의 disturb를 한꺼번에 인가하므로 disturb 테스트 시간을 줄였다. 마지막으로 이 논문에서는 erase-verify-read 모드에서 40ns의 cycle 시간을 만족하기 위해 CG disable 시간이 빠른 CG 구동회로는 새롭게 제안되었다.

  • 모드 전송선로 이론을 이용하여 불연속 입력경계면을 갖는 TE-TM 모드 광 편파기의 편파특성을 정확하게 분석하였다. 제안한 해석법의 타당성 및 정확성을 분석하기 위하여 새로운 편파조건을 정의하였으며, 기존에 널리 사용하여 왔던 결합모드 이론 의 편파조건과 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 불연속 입력경계면의 분연속 특성은 광 편파기의 편파조건에 영향을 주지 않았으나, 결합특성이 약하고 전송구조가 비 대칭 구조인 경우 근사적 해석법인 결합 모드 이론의 편파조건이 부정확함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In a matrix converter, input side and output side are coupled with each other through switching elements. Since disturbances on either side affect directly on the other side, it requires a high-speed on-line control system to compensate them. We proposed in previous papers a new control strategy and an on-line control circuit for a matrix converter. The control circuit could keep the output voltage at commanded value against fluctuation in the supply voltage. Furthermore wave forms of the output voltage and the input current were always kept sinusoidal. The switching pattern was generated by comparing modified voltage references with a carrier. The carrier was synchronized with the supply voltage using a PLL system, which made the control circuit complicated and costly. This paper discusses on the possibility of an asynchronized carrier. Experiment results show the input current distortion in case of asynchronous carrier is bigger than that of synchronous carrier. However, the deterioration can be minimized by increased carrier frequency.

생체 신호 측정용 저 잡음 저 전력 용량성 계측 증폭기 (A Low Noise Low Power Capacitive Instrument Amplifier for Bio-Potential Detection)

  • We present a precision instrument amplifier (IA) designed for bio-potential acquisition. The proposed IA employs a capacitively coupled instrument amplifier (CCIA) structure to achieve a rail-to-rail input common-mode range and low gain error. A positive feedback loop is applied to boost the input impedance. Also, DC servo loop (DSL) with pseudo resistors is adopted to suppress electrode offset for bio-potential sensing. The proposed amplifier was designed in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology with 1.8V supply voltage. Simulation results show the integrated noise of $1.276{\mu}Vrms$ in a frequency range from 0.01 Hz to 1 KHz, 65dB SNR, 118dB CMRR, and $58M{\Omega}$ input impedance respectively. The total current of IA is $38{\mu}A$. It occupies $740{\mu}m$ by $1300{\mu}m$ including the passive on-chip low pass filter.

다중 표준 시스템을 위한 이득 곡선 제어기를 가진 가변이득 증폭기 설계 (Design of Variable Gain Amplifier with a Gain Slope Controller in Multi-standard System)

  • In this paper, variable gain amplifier(VGA) with a gain slope controller has been proposed and verified by circuit simulations and measurements. The proposed VGA has a gain control, gain slope switch and variable gain range. The input source coupled pair with diode connected load is used for VGA gain stage. The gain slope controller with switch can control VGA gain slope. The proposed VGA is fabricated in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process for multi -standard wireless receiver. The proposed two stage VGA consumes min. 2.0 mW to max. 2.6 mW in gain control range and gives input IP3 of -3.77 dBm and NF of 28.7 dB at 1.8 V power supply under -25 dBm, 1 MHz input. The proposed VGA has 37 dB(-16 dB $\sim$ 21 dB) variable gain range, and 8 dB gain range control per 0.3 V control voltage, and can provide variable gain, positive and negative gain slope control, and gain range control. This VGA characteristics provide design flexibility in multi-standard wireless receiver.

The importance of applying an appropriate approach to modelling wastewater treatment plants

  • Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are designed and built to remove contaminants from wastewater. WWTPs are composed of various facilities equipped with hydro-mechanical and electrical equipment. This paper presents a comparison of two different approaches for WWTPs modelling. Static modelling is suitable for determining the dimensions of facilities and equipment capacity. The special significance of this approach is for the design of new plants, i.e., when a very small number of input data on the quantities and composition of the influent wastewater is available. Dynamic modelling is expensive, time consuming and requires great expertise in the use of simulators, models and very good understanding of the treatment processes. Also, dynamic modelling is very important to use for optimization, consideration of future scenarios and also possible scenarios on the plant. The comparison of two approaches was made on the input data from the biggest and most important plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H)-WWTP Butila (Sarajevo). The main idea is to show the differences between two demanding accesses. It is important to know how to apply an adequate approach to research and solve the set task. The II phase of the plant Butila, which includes the removal of nutrients, is planned in several years and therefore the importance of research has increased.

Stochastic identification of masonry parameters in 2D finite elements continuum models

  • The comprehension and structural modeling of masonry constructions is fundamental to safeguard the integrity of built cultural assets and intervene through adequate actions, especially in earthquake-prone regions. Despite the availability of several modeling strategies and modern computing power, modeling masonry remains a great challenge because of still demanding computational efforts, constraints in performing destructive or semi-destructive in-situ tests, and material uncertainties. This paper investigates the shear behavior of masonry walls by applying a plane-stress FE continuum model with the Modified Masonry-like Material (MMLM). Epistemic uncertainty affecting input parameters of the MMLM is considered in a probabilistic framework. After appointing a suitable probability density function to input quantities according to prior engineering knowledge, uncertainties are propagated to outputs relying on gPCE-based surrogate models to considerably speed up the forward problem-solving. The sensitivity of the response to input parameters is evaluated through the computation of Sobol' indices pointing out the parameters more worthy to be further investigated, when dealing with the seismic assessment of masonry buildings. Finally, masonry mechanical properties are calibrated in a probabilistic setting with the Bayesian approach to the inverse problem based on the available measurements obtained from the experimental load-displacement curves provided by shear compression in-situ tests.

CCD 카메라 영상을 이용한 스마트 화재 영상 인식 시스템 (Smart Fire Image Recognition System using Charge-Coupled Device Camera Image)

  • 본 연구에서는 유무선 TCP/IP 기능과 Pan/Tilt 기능을 갖는 Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) 카메라를 이용하여 화재발생 위치를 추적하고, 스마트 모바일 통신 기능을 탑재한 안드로이드 시스템에 실시간으로 정보를 전달하여 원거리에서 화재를 인식하고 재난을 제어할 수 있는 스마트 화재 인식 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법을 구현하기 위하여 첫째, 입력영상을 hue saturation intensity (HSI) 변환하여 주변 밝기와 잡영상들을 제거하여 순수한 화염만을 분할하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 둘째, Pan/Tilt 기능으로 화재가 발생한 위치를 정확하게 추적하여 적절하게 화재 인식을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 셋째, 모바일 기능을 탑재한 안드로이드 통신시스템으로 화재상황을 원격지에서도 확인할 수 있는 스마트한 화재 인식 시스템을 구현할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 방법을 확인하기 위하여 10개의 화재 동영상을 입력하고 실험을 수행한 결과 10개의 동영상에서 화재영역을 분할하고 화재 위치를 모두 추적하였다.
