The data acquisition unit, signal acquiring and processing equipment, processes and provides major data of an aircraft such as engine system, power train system, hydraulic system, etc. However, it had lots of failure related to the system during production test flight, and it is necessary to fix them perfectly as soon as possible because of the significance of the equipment. In this paper, it contains failure classification and analysis for each defect element to improve whole software as well as electrical circuit. Particularly, utilizing Fault Injection Method based interworking test, more efficient improvement activity was performed for not only equipment level but also aircraft level, and as a result, it is achieved that considerable betterment of Surion quality and flight safety.

LCD-BLU (Liquid Crystal Display - Back Light Unit) is one of kernel parts of LCD unit and it consists of several optical sheets(such as prism, diffuser and protector sheets), LGP (Light Guiding Plate), light source (CCFL or LED) and mold frame. The LGP of LCD-BLU is usually manufactured by forming numerous dots with $50{\sim}200$ um in diameter on it by etching process. But the surface of the etched dots of LGP is very rough due to the characteristics of the etching process during the mold fabrication, so that its light loss is high along with the dispersion of light into the surface. Accordingly, there is a limit in raising the luminance of LCD-BLU. In order to overcome the limit of current etched dot patterned LGP, optical pattern design with 50um micro-lens was applied in the present study. The micro-lens pattern fabricated by modified LiGA with thermal reflow process was applied to the optical design of LGP. The attention was paid to the effects of different aspect ratio (i.e. $0.2{\sim}0.5$) of optical pattern conditions to the brightness distribution of BLU with micro-lens patterned LGP. Finally, high aspect ratio micro-lens patterned LGP showed superior results to the one made by low aspect ratio in average luminance.

This study evaluated the applicability of UV-AOP process using medium-pressure UV lamp and H2O2 to remove TOC and emerging micropollutants in the effluent from a sewage treatment plant. The UV lamp with higher output(1.6~8.0 kW) showed slightly higher amount of power in removing TOC of 1 mg/L(0.09 kWh/mg/L~0.11 kWh/mg/L), however it was found that there was no significant difference for each cases. In addition, under the condition that the H2O2 concentration is sufficient, as the power consumption of the UV lamp increases, the unit TOC removal concentration per unit H2O2 decomposition concentration also increases, resulting in effective removal of TOC. The removal rate of 7 new trace contaminants, such as antibiotics by the UV-AOP tested, was at least 89.4%, and the ability to remove the emerging micro pollutants in the process was very effective. But, it was judged that it could not be excluded that the probablity of transforming to oxidated by-product in the case of a low TOC removal efficiency. Depending on the operating conditions of the UV and H2O2 processes, a higher BOD concentration is found in the treated water than in the influent, and it is necessary to review the UV power and proper injection conditions of H2O2 to maintain the BOD concentration increase below a certain level.
Flacherie symptom was found in the fifth instar larvae of silkworm, Bombyx mori. The bacterial pathogen was isolated from the hemolymph of the infected silkworm and identified. The isolated bacteria caused a significant flacherie pathogenicity to the fifth instar larvae of B. mori when $5{\times}10^{6}$ cfu (colony-forming unit) of the bacteria was injected into each larva. The infected larvae began to die at 6 days after injection and resulted in complete mortality at 10 days. The bacterium was identified as Staphylococcus gallinarum based on the morphological and physiological characteristics described in Bergey's manual. This identification was further supported by the characters of carbohydrate utility analyzed from a bacterial identification system ($MicroLog^{\circledR}$) and also by the molecular structure of 165-23S rDNA internal transcribed spaces. As an insecticidal action, S. gallinarum caused hemolymph septicemia by its cytotoxic effect on the hemocytes of B. mori.

The methyl iodide (CH3I) removal performance of tri-ethylene-di-amine impregnated activated carbon (TEDA-AC) used in the air cleaning unit of nuclear power plants (NPPs) should be maintained at least 99% between 24 month-performance test period. In order for evaluating the effectiveness of TEDA-AC on the removal performance of CH3I in nuclear power plant during the operation of NPPs, the long-term test for up to 15 months was carried out under the simulated operating conditions (e.g., 25 ℃, RH 50%, ppb level poisoning gases injection) at nuclear power plants (NPPs). The TEDA-AC samples were analyzed with the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area and TEDA content as well as CH3I penetration test. It is clearly evident that more than 99% of CH3I removal performance of TEDA-AC was observed in the TEDA-AC samples during 15 months of long-term operation under the simulated NPP operating conditions including the ppb level of organic and oxide form of poisoning gases. BET specific surface area and TEDA content that can affect the CH3I removal performance of TEDA-AC were also maintained as those in new TEDA-AC during 15 months of long-term operation.
Heat transfer oils are used in applications such as heating systems of chemical plant, refinery heat exchange systems, gas plant process, injection molding systems, and pulp and paper processing. These oils are extremely stable and resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation. In the event of a spill or accidental release of heat transfer oils, it can be ignite easily when there is an ignition source. This paper discusses the flammability and thermal stabilities of new and used oils. The flammability of the oils are assessed by measuring changes in flash point and auto ignition temperature. The thermal stability of oils are evaluated by the thermal screening unit ($TS^u$) and the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). From the experimental results, it is suggested to give fire hazard characteristics to safe precautions for the proper use and treatment of heat transfer oils.
It is well known that diabetes mellitus is associated with metabolic derangements, such as hyper-glycemia, ketosis, glycosuria, and also widespread alterations in the blood vessels, kidneys, eyes, peripheral nerves and heart. It is also recognized that healing of skin wound is delayed in diabetics. In bone, according to Aegerter, osteopenia develops in diabetes mellitus and it is chiefly ascribed to overutilization of protein. Shim claims that total blood flow to the entire skeletal system is approximately 4 to 8 percent of resting cardiac output and blood supply to the skeletal system would be decreased on account of secondary arteriosclerotic changes in the diabetics. An adequate blood supply is an essential factor in the healing process of fracture, and disturbed blood flow, either local or systemic, will invariably delay union of the fragments or the fragments from being fused. As the author has encountered several cases of diabetics in whom healing of fracture was delayed or incomplete, this experimental study was undertaken to elucidate the effects of hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus on the healing process of fracture. In this experiment adult albino rabbits, weighing about 2 kg. were used and divided into 6 groups. The femur of each animal was fractured surgically, and then the healing process of fracture was periodically checked by radiography at an interval of one week for a period of 6 weeks. Thereafter, all the rabbits were killed to obtain tissue preparation of the femur. The experimental groups were as follows; 1) Control group: Six rabbits sustained a surgical fracture to the femur, without being given any other treatment or drug. 2) Alloxan-treated group: For inducing diabetes, alloxan was given intravenously to 17 rabbits in various dose as follows; to 7 of them 40 mg/kg, to 6 rabbits 80 mg/kg and to 4 rabbits 120 mg/kg of body weight, respectively. 3) Insulin-treated group: Protamine-zinc insulin was injected subcutaneously to each of 6 rabbits in a daily dose of 1 unit per kilogram of body weight. 4) Group treated with insulin after alloxan: Four rabbits were given 80 mg of alloxan once and than 1 unit of insulin per kilogram of body weight daily. Another 5 rabbits were injected 1 unit of insulin per kg of body weight daily following administration of alloxan in a dose of 120 mg/kg. 5) Homotransplantation group: Following intravenous injection of alloxan in a dose of 120 mg/kg, 10 rabbits underwent homotransplantation of a short bone segment to the femur. Five of them were subsequently given 1 unit/kg of insulin daily. 6) Sugar-treated group: six rabbits were fed $15{\sim}20$ gm of sugar daily throughout the period of experiment. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Blood sugar level and damage to the pancreatic islet increased proportionately when alloxan was given to the rabbits in various doses. No appreciable change could be observed in the islets when the blood sugar level was altered by either oral administration of sugar or subcutaneous injection of insulin. 2. Comparing with the control group, healing of fracture was delayed in the alloxan-treated group, while callus formation and periosteal reaction were shown to be more prominent in this group and subsequently, the ultimate osseous tissue formed at the fracture site was significantly smaller in amount and less compact. These findings were more marked as the amount of alloxan increased. 3. Administration of insulin prevented the delay in healing process of fracture in the rabbits with alloxan-induced hyperglycemia. In this case, the course and progression of fracture healing were almost similar to those of control group. 4. Union between the host bone and the fragment transplanted from other rabbit of the same species was more delayed in the group treated with alloxan alone than in the group to which insulin was administered after development of alloxan-induced diabetes. In both groups periosteal new bone developed from the ends of the host bone, above and below the transplanted fragment, and directly fused with failure of periosteal callus to bridge the adjacent ends of the host bone and the transplanted fragment. 5. The healing process of fracture was not inhibited by alteration in blood sugar level when the blood sugar was abnormally increased by excessive sugar intake or lowered by administration of insulin alone. The healing of fracture in these groups progressed similarly as in the control group. In brief summary, it appears that the healing process of fracture would be definitely disturbed in diabetic state brought about by damage to the pancreatic islet. As such an inhibition could be overcome with insulin, it seems that insulin plays an important role in healing of fracture, but alteration in blood sugar level alone does not modify healing process of fracture to significant degree.
The purpose of this study was to identify knowledge of universal precautions and its performance in practice. The research was conducted from November 2 to 30, 1998. A total 515 student nurses ; 249 from a baccalaureate nursing college and 266 from second and third year of a 3-year community nursing college were surveyed. The results are as following : 1. The average score for universal precautions knowledge was 270.41$\pm$19.43/300(range 150-300). The results showed that 99.2% of students avoid injury from used needles, 98.6% answered that they always wash their hands if they had contact with the patient's blood and they always dispose of used needles in special collectors (97.7%) for needles. But, 39.2% responsed that they dispose of used needles after recapping them. 2. The average score for universal precautions knowledge of the senior students in the 4-year college was the highest (277.65$\pm$13.99). 3. The average score for the performance of universal precautions knowledge was 53.18 $\pm$5.91(range 14-70). The items : ‘I cautiously avoid injury from the used needles’(4.92$\pm$0.33), ‘I always wash my hands if there has been contact with the patient's blood’(4.91$\pm$0.34), and ‘I always disposed of used needles in the appropriate collector’(4.89$\pm$0.42) showed the highest performance. However ‘I always dispose of used needles after recapping them’(2.19$\pm$1.39) and ‘I always use protection goggles when in danger of contamination’(2.19$\pm$1.20) showed low performance level. 4. The highest average score for universal precautions performance was shown among the second year students in 3-year nursing college (54.19$\pm$6.92) between the groups. It showed that the level of the universal precautions performance was higher for those who had education on university precautions prior to performance of the universal precautions than for those without any prior education. 5. The percentage of students who reported the experience of direct contact with patients' blood and/or body fluids was 42.30%. The experience of direct contact with blood and/or body fluids of the educational group was significantly higher than those were not educated. 6. The most frequent cause of the direct contact was ‘needle pricking and/or skin cut’(63.04%). The most frequent substance with which the students contact was ‘blood’(59.85%). The majority of the sample had answered that the mode of contamination was ‘unknown’(63.54%). The majority of the sample answered that strategies used after contamination included ‘washing with soap’(33.61%). Reviewing the chart of patients or asking other health professionals(28.85%). 7. The number of students who had the experience of a needle stick and/or skin cut was 145(28.16%). The clinical practice places where the incidents occurred were mainly in the internal medicine unit (45.07%) and the surgical unit (31.92%) followed by the intensive care unit and the emergency unit in order. The experience of a needle stick and/or skin cut happened during on intra-muscular injection 47.34% and intravenous injection 21.81%. The causes of the needle stick and/or skin cut were ‘putting the needle cap back on 77(35.81%)’. The number of students who took an appropriate post management blood test and/or vaccination was 27(18.62%). 8. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the knowledge of universal precautions and performance of universal precautions in practice showed a positive correlation.

Purpose: It appears the different value when the injection dose is calculating for patients on each PET/CT systems. It directly affects the technologists' radiation exposed dose. We studied the effect of the variable injection doses from several PET/CT systems to exposure dose for technologists. Materials and Methods: Six technologists have worked for 5 months through unit rotations with 3 PET/CT systems {Scanner 1 (S1): 0.15 mCi/kg, Scanner 2 (S2): 0.17 mCi/kg, Scanner 3 (S3): 0.12 mCi/kg}. Eighteen to 19 patients have had examinations per a day on each PET/CT systems. Examination parameters were adjusted to the same. TLDs were used for checking the exposure dose of technologists. Results: Each technologists' the monthly average exposure dose was as follows; S1: 0.76 mSv, S2: 0.93 mSv, S3: 0.47 mSv. The maximum exposure dose was 1.12 mSv, and minimum was 0.42 mSv. The results showed significance in the correlation between the PET/CT system and the exposure dose (p<0.005). Conclusion: When the amount of injection dose was small, the exposure dose was decreased not only the patients but also the technologists. The exposure dose was decreased by the individual proficiency of technologists. However, the low injection dose can highly reduce the exposure dose for technologist so that there will be needed to following studies.
