A technical study on mold of productivity improvement for Insert Injection of Reverse Engineering (리버스 엔지니어링을 통한 인서트 사출의 생산성향상을 위한 금형기술연구)

  • Insert-injection molding can inject two different materials or two colors in the same mold and process. If this injection process use, product has ability because the base part maintain strength and specified part can inject soft-material. It makes the cost down by single operation automatically for saving wages. In this paper, we designed double-injection mold for automobile remote control to inject secondary using this part as insert after inject external appearance of product. CAE analysis was progressed gate location and runner size as variable and analysis result is reflected in mold design process. As a result, it could solved badness that is generated at the conventional mold. Additionally, cost is downed by reducing loss of runner as well as could omit painting process because surface of finished product is improved through new mold.

  • A Study on Effects of the Runner and the Gate of double shot injection molded Parts using CAE Double shot injection molding can inject two different materials or two different colors in the same mold in a injection molding process. Double shot injection molded parts can be characterized that the base part maintains strength and specified part can inject soft-material. It can reduce the production cost by single automatic operations. In this paper, we designed double shot injection mold for automobile emote control To inject secondary part, this part is used as an insert after external appearance of product is injected. CAE analysis was progressed gate location and runner size as variables. The analysis result is reflected in mold design process. As a result, it could solve problems which are generated in the conventional mold. Additionally, cost can be downed by reducing runner weight. As well as it could omit painting process because the surface of finished product is improved through new mold.

  • Recently, the sensor and actuator are developed with EAP(Electro Active Polymer). Common used of they is close at hand, the bio chip and Lab on a chip are researched.   • In-mold Coating is a method that can simultaneously perform injection molding and surface coating in injection mold. The material used for coating is two-component polyurethane which is composed of polyol and isocyanate. L-type mixing head can be used to mix polyol and isocyanate uniformly, and inject them inside the mold cavity. The surface quality of the injection molded products by using in-mold coating depends on the mixing uniformity between main agent and hardener. In this study, flow analysis was performed to design a mixing head for uniform mixing of two-component polyurethane. Especially the effects of design parameters of mixing head on mixing uniformity and nozzle pressure were investigated. The parameters of mixing head were mixing chamber diameter, cleaning cylinder diameter, nozzle alignment angle in the horizontal and vertical direction, and cleaning piston position. It was found that optimal design values were mixing chamber diameter of 3.5 mm, cleaning cylinder diameter of 5.0 mm, nozzle horizontal/vertical alignment angles of 140°/160°, and cleaning piston position of 1.8 mm. The optimal values would be used to develop a two-component mixing head achieving an uniform mixing for in-mold coating.

  • Micro injection molding technology is very important fiw mass product of micro structures or micro parts. And, it is so difficult that the molding technology of micro pole or thin wall(barrier rib) structures with high aspect ratio.   • This paper covers the manufacturing process to improve the quality of the puppet for stop-motion films, especially focuses on the mold making and casting process those are the key steps of the puppet making. Unlike the general mold for a duplication, the mold for puppets has special functions to fix an armature and inject casting materials stably inside, and it is repeatedly baked at high temperature. The practical information about puppet makings is provided including various predictable problems, expertise from many professionals, vender list, and so on.

A study on the warpage in injection molded part for various rib design (사출성형품의 리브 설계에 따른 휨의 연구)

  • Warpage, which is one of the molding trouble, acts as possible factor which results in defect in assembly. In this study, a mold was designed to produce specimens with rib parallel to flow direction, specimens with rib perpendicular to flow direction and specimens without rib. This work researched change of warpage according to injection molding condition such as injection pressure, packing pressure, packing time, resin temperature, mold temperature in non-crystalline resins(PC, ABS), crystalline resins(PP, PA66), and 30% glass fiber reinforced-resins(PC, ABS, PP, PA66).Specimens with rib and Crystalline resins show more warpage than specimens without rib and non-crystalline resins, respectively. Glass fiber reinforced-resins and specimens with rib parallel to flow direction show smaller warpage than conventional resins and specimens with rib perpendicular to flow, respectively. Specimens with rib and specimens without rib show reduced warpage as packing time increases. In addition, warpage increase as resin temperature increases. It is found that CAE shows similar tendency with experiment as packing time, resin temperature. when the rib is caused, warpage will reduce and prevent the transformation. product of a irregular form occurs warpage. In the study It'll be basic data that product occurs warpage, preferablity.

  • As plastic injection mold parts is suitable system mass production making mold. So thick steering wheel parts is desirable to carry out gas injection molding. Gas injection mold is skill to inject nitrogen gas postfilling melting raw material into mold. Gas injection mold have many advantage like retrenchment of material cost, upgrading the guality. etc. It was decided gate position to minimize warpage of parts analysis injection mold process using mold flow software and incase doing gas injection mold using normal p.p material. it occur big warpage. so it is object minimizing warpage of injection parts to change p.p material containing mineral 18% and removing fingering phenomenon trouble as changing gate position. Also in case carrying out gas injection mold, I did comparison and analysis to grasp shape flow in gas setting a standard gate after flowing in raw material. Through this study, I found out changing of thickness by parts shape and it can occur warpage of parts by plastic material even though it carry out gas injection mold and it had a direct influence on trouble of parts by gate position.

Effects of Process Variables on the Gas Penetrated Part in Gas-Assisted Injection Molding

  • Gas-assisted injection molding (GAIM) process reduces the required injection pressure during mold filling stage as well as the shrinkage and warpage of the part and cycle time. Despite of these advantages, this process needs new parameters and makes the application more difficult because gas and melt interact during the injection molding process. Important GAIM factors involved in this process are gas penetration design, locations of gas injection points, shot size, delay time to inject gas as well as common injection molding parameters. In this study, the experiments are conducted to investigate effects of GAIM process variables on the gas penetration for PP (Polypropylene) and ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) moldings by changing the gas injection point. Taguchi method is used for the design of the experiments. When the gas is injected at a cavity's center, the most effective factor is the shot size. When the gas is injected at a cavity's end, the most effective factor is the melt temperature. The injection speed is also an effective factor in GAIM process.
