This study applied the Theory of Reasoned Action by Fishbein & Ajzen(1975) as the grounded theory and adopt sanctions of the General Deterrent Theory and protection motivation of the Protection Motivation Theory as the antecedents to discuss the theoretical factors and the cases of application in the field of information security. Then, it adopted subjective norm, a variable of the Theory of Reasoned Action, as a parameter to analyze the causality of sanctions, perceived vulnerability, response cost, and self-efficacy with the intention to follow the information security policies. As a result, all of the antecedents except for sanctions had causality with the intention and subjective norm proved its mediating effect as a parameter between the antecedents and the intention.

This study aimed to examine predictors of the intention to protect personal information on Facebook. We conducted an online survey of 679 Facebook users in the Republic of Korea. The findings of this study showed that usefulness and ease of use had significant effects on attitudes toward protection behavior. The results also revealed that risk factors (privacy risk severity and vulnerability) had significant effects on protective behaviors. Based on our findings, we discussed the information protection of privacy on Facebook.

This study investigates the IPI (Information Protection Intention) of DHS (Digital Healthcare Service) providers by introducing PMT (Protection Motivation Theory). This study examines the effects of protection motivation, such as threat appraisal and coping appraisal, on IPI, such as ICI(Induction Control Intention) and SDI(Self Defense Intention). The research model, based on the PMT, adopted severity, vulnerability, reaction efficacy and self-efficacy as independent variables. The research model was validated through quantitative research, a survey of 222 DHS providers in South Korea, using structural equation modeling. The results show that (1) a clear awareness of the consequences of security threats increases the understanding of DHS providers on the severity of closure of healthcare information, and thus may decreases abuse of DHS by providers; (2) user confidence and satisfaction on the security system may make them be confident that they can handle the closure of healthcare information by themselves; and (3) although DHS providers are realizing the consequences of closure of healthcare information, they think that they are unlikely to encounter such situations. As a result of this study, venture companies that provide DHS need to provide contents that can continuously increase providers' security level in order to increase providers' information protection intention. It suggests that IPI is important through trust of healthcare service providers.

The communications market can be characterized for its overflow of users, oligopoly business structure, 24/7 open service, incomplete sales, and operation of core platform function. These characteristics have lead users to continuously make complaints and suffer inconveniences, and thus the concept of user protection has come to receive attention. This study aims to propose solutions through communication channeling between businesses and users, based on website construction from the viewpoint of user protection. In particular, a research model was developed to display how the information symmetry of websites can be influential on the satisfaction, reliability, and continuous intention for using communication services. Total of 14 hypotheses were set to measure a significant degree of variables corelation and eight hypotheses were accepted finally. The analysis results showed that information symmetry of telecommunication service websites had a positive effect on intention for continuous usage. Through the research results, it is expected that communication service businesses will be able to consider important factors when constructing websites. Furthermore, the results are expected to be utilized as for ensuring users' continued usage of their communication services.

The purpose of this research examined the relationship between the level of news usage on Influenza A(H1N1) and media users' behavioral intention toward health protection. Specifically, the study investigated causal relationships among exposure of media information on Influenza A(H1N1) as an independent variable, psychological protection motivation factors such as perceived severity, vulnerability, response efficacy, & self-efficacy as mediated variables and behavioral intention on personal and public health protection as dependent variables using structure equation model analysis. Self-reported questionnaires were administrated to 460 college students. The result indicated the followings. First, the level of news usage on Influenza A(H1N1) was not statistically significant on influencing behavioral intention toward personal and public health protection. Second, perceived severity, vulnerability, and self-efficacy were significant variables on behavioral intention toward personal health protection whereas perceived vulnerability and response efficacy were significant on public health protection. The function among factors in protection motivation theory is dependent upon whom protected from illness.

The paper studies the influencing factors of continuous usage intention for a scenario based cognitive FAQ service regrading on private information protection. The research result finds that three major factors are significantly positive to the continuous usage intention for the service. First, search easiness is an essential factor and it can be improved using sophisticate categorization. Second, Scenario based FAQ service is effective on understanding and solving questioner's situation. Related information is helpful for problem solving. The research shows that the new approach to private information protection area can lead to a more acceptable and reasonable problem solving tool.

This study examines antecedents of the intention of compliance with information security policies based on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior. The study conducted the following: Verification of casual relations between role of management and protection motivation and the antecedents of planned behavior as parameters to determine the effect on the intention of compliance with information security policy, and comparative analysis between the research model and a competition model. The result of the study disclosed that, in the research model, attitude and subjective norm took an intermediary role on management beliefs, response efficacy, response cost, self-efficacy, and compliance intention, and perceived behavior control on management beliefs, self-efficacy and compliance intention.

Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of professional self-concept and ethical awareness of dental hygiene (department) students attending a university located in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do on patients' willingness to protect personal information. Methods: Professional self-concept, ethical disposition, and patients' personal information protection intention according to general characteristics were analyzed using t-tests and one-way ANOVA. After confirming the correlation through Pearson's correlation analysis, the effect on the patient's personal information protection intention was confirmed using multiple regression analysis. Results: Professional self-concept, ethical disposition, and the patients' willingness to protect personal information all showed positive correlations. The higher the communication skills of professional self-concept and the higher the idealism of ethical orientation, the higher the patients' willingness to protect personal information. Conclusions: This study, ascertained the effect of dental hygiene students' professional self-concept and ethical consciousness on patients' personal information protection practices. The results suggest that it is necessary to develop an educational program that can enhance the practice of dental hygienists to protect patients' personal information, and to develop and conduct continuous policy development and research.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the behavioral factors affecting the security attitude and intention to use biometrics password based on the protection motivation theory. This study also investigates security awareness training to understand trust, privacy, and security vulnerability regarding biometric authentication password. This empirical analysis reveals security awareness training boosts the protection motivational factors that affect on the behavior and intention of using biometric authentication passwords. This study also indicates that biometric authentication passwords can be used when the overall belief in a biometric system is present. After all, security awareness training enhances the belief of biometric passwords and increase the motivation to protect security threats. The study will provide insights into protecting security vulnerability with security awareness training.

Currently mobile messenger industry, based on mobile application, is growing. And it has aroused innovative change, offering services in various forms beyond the form simply sharing messengers. Also because messenger securities are becoming personalized and intelligent, the importance of more diverse mobile applications' securities is increasing. This study carries out the empirical study of the causal relationship that the factors of using application services influence on security recognition and security Intention of mobile securities, and consequentially impact upon protection of personal information of users. In order that, we present the research model which prime variables of SDT, which emphasized on natural immanent motivation of human, applied to. To verify the research model of this study empirically, we conducted a survey targeting the public and university students which have ever used mobile messenger applications. With this, we desire to contribute to emphasizing the significance of individual messenger security and playing a positive role to develop security guide for consumers. The path analysis results are as follows. First, perceived autonomy has a positive effect on both security awareness and security intention. Second, perceived competence has a positive effect on security intention. Third, perceived relatedness has a positive effect on both security awareness and security intention. Last, security awareness and security intention. have a positive effect on privacy protection behavior. Through emphasizing the importance of the security of the messenger of individuals and contribute to a positive role for development of the necessary security guidelines to consumers.
