  • Map services for cellular phone have problem for implementation, which are the limitation of a screen size. To effectively represent map data on screen of celluar phone, it need a process which translate a detailed map data into less detailed data using map generalization, and it should manipulate zoom in out quickly by leveling the generalized data. However, current spatial indexing methods supporting map generalization do not support all map generalization operations. In this paper, We propose a leveled spatial indexing method, LMG-tree, supporting map generalization and presents the results of performance evaluation.

  • With the rapid interest in Geographic Information System (GIS) contents, a large volume of valuable GIS dataset has been distributed illegally by pirates, hackers, or unauthorized users. Therefore the problem focus on how to protect the copyright of GIS vector map data for storage and transmission. At this point, GIS security techniques focusing on secure network and data encryption have been studied and developed to solve the copyright protection and illegal copy prevention for GIS digital map. But GIS vector map data is very large and current data encryption techniques often encrypt all components of data. That means we have encrypted large amount of data lead to the long encrypting time and high complexity computation. This paper presents a novel selective encryption scheme for GIS vector map data protection to store, transmit or distribute to authorized users using K-means algorithm. The proposed algorithm only encrypts a small part of data based on properties of polylines and polygons in GIS vector map but it can change whole data of GIS vector map. Experimental results verified the proposed algorithm effectively and error in decryption is approximately zero.

But GIS vector map data is very large and current data encryption techniques often encrypt all components of data. That means we have encrypted large amount of data lead to the long encrypting time and high complexity computation. This paper presents the selective encryption scheme using hybrid transform for GIS vector map data protection to store, transmit or distribute to authorized users. In proposed scheme, polylines and polygons in vector map are targets of selective encryption. We select the significant objects in polyline/polygon layer, and then they are encrypted by the key sets generated by using Chaotic map before changing them in DWT, DFT domain. Experimental results verified the proposed algorithm effectively and error in decryption is approximately zero.

  • This study is to improve an automatic rate of mapping system through analysis of topographic map specification. The digital map ver 2.0(1/5,000) has used for this studv and the mapping information is to obtain digital and topographic map. This topographic map specification is compared with information that represented of today. The regulation of a map specification for automatic mapping system planed out $\circled1$ similar specification of topographic map $\circled2$ simplified specification $\circled3$ clearness specification. After this study, the automatic rate of a mapping is up to 7% and the map specification has been easily generated.

  • In Korea, the initial installation of GIS requires lots of cost, time, and human efforts, If the accuracy of GIS data does not meet the certain standard for use, the system may not work as expected. So, it needs to be investigated for the accuracy of raw data. However, there is little study for the accuracy of raw data in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the data accuracy of raw data - geologic map, 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scale topographic map, forest stand map, degree of green naturality(DGN) map, and detailed survey data of DGN map - for fulfilling the expected use in Korea. After this study, some errors in data were surveyed and following conclusions were derived. (1) There is a lack of data, e. g, wildlife habitat map. (2) Some data are misinterpreted depending on the location in the geologic map. (3) Some data are not updated after change of topography in the topographic map. (4) Some data are not edited properly in the forest stand map. (4) DGN classification system does not reflect the characteristic of Korean vegetation community. So, it needs to be refined and restructured.

  • In order for a mobile robot to move under unknown or uncertain environment, it must have an environmental information. In collecting environmental information, the mobile robot can use various sensors. In case of using ultrasonic sensors to collect an environmental information, it is able to comprise a low-cost environmental recognition system compared with using other sensors such as vision and laser range-finder. This paper proposes a map building algorithm which can collect environmental information using ultrasonic sensors. And also this paper suggests a traveling algorithm using environmental information which leads to the map building algorithm. In order to accomplish the proposed traveling algorithm, this paper additionally discusses a position revision algorithm.

  • To address the problems of the gravitational search algorithm (GSA) in which the population is prone to converge prematurely and fall into the local solution when solving the single-objective optimization problem, a sine map jumping gravity search algorithm based on asynchronous learning is proposed. First, a learning mechanism is introduced into the GSA. The agents keep learning from the excellent agents of the population while they are evolving, thus maintaining the memory and sharing of evolution information, addressing the algorithm's shortcoming in evolution that particle information depends on the current position information only, improving the diversity of the population, and avoiding premature convergence. Second, the sine function is used to map the change of the particle velocity into the position probability to improve the convergence accuracy. Third, the Levy flight strategy is introduced to prevent particles from falling into the local optimization. Finally, the proposed algorithm and other intelligent algorithms are simulated on 18 benchmark functions. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieved improved the better performance.
