Recently as efficient processing of aggregate queries for fetching desired data from sensors has been recognized as a crucial part, in-network aggregate query processing techniques are studied intensively in wireless sensor networks. Existing representative in-network aggregate query processing techniques propose routing algorithms and data structures for processing aggregate queries. However, these aggregate query processing techniques have problems such as high energy consumption in sensor nodes, low accuracy of query processing results, and long query processing time. In order to solve these problems and to enhance the efficiency of aggregate query processing in wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes Bucket-based Parallel Aggregation(BPA). BPA divides a query region into several cells according to the distribution of sensor nodes and builds a Quad-tree, and then processes aggregate queries in parallel for each cell region according to routing. And it sends data in duplicate by removing redundant data, which, in turn, enhances the accuracy of query processing results. Also, BPA uses a bucket-based data structure in aggregate query processing, and divides and conquers the bucket data structure adaptively according to the number of data in the bucket. In addition, BPA compresses data in order to reduce the size of data in the bucket and performs data transmission filtering when each sensor node sends data. Finally, in this paper, we prove its superiority through various experiments using sensor data.

Recently, web portals have been offering georeferenced SLI(Street-Level Imagery) services, such as Google Streetview. The SLI has a distinctive strength over aerial images or vector maps because it gives us the same view as we see the real world on the street. Based on the characteristic, applicability of the SLI can be increased substantially through conflation with other spatial datasets. However, spatial inconsistency between different datasets is the main reason to decrease the quality of conflation when conflating them. Therefore, this research aims to remove the spatial inconsistency to conflate an SLI with a widely used 2D vector map. The removal of the spatial inconsistency is conducted through three sub-processes of (1) road intersection matching between the SLI trace and the road layer of the vector map for detecting CPPs(Control Point Pairs), (2) inaccurate CPPs filtering by analyzing the trend of the CPPs, and (3) local alignment using accurate CPPs. In addition, we propose an evaluation method suitable for conflation result including an SLI, and verify the effect of the removal of the spatial inconsistency.
Power lines are one of the main obstacles causing an aircraft crash and thus their realtime detection is significantly important during flight. To avoid such flight obstacles, the use of LIDAR has been recently increasing thanks to its advantages that it is less sensitive to weather conditions and can operate in day and night. In this study, we suggest a fast method to detect power lines from LIDAR data for flight obstacle avoidance. The proposed method first extracts non-ground points by eliminating the points reflected from ground surfaces using a filtering process. Second, we calculate the eigenvalues for the covariance matrix from the coordinates of the generated non-ground points and obtain the ratio of eigenvalues. Based on the ratio of eigenvalues, we can classify the points on a linear structure. Finally, among them, we select the points forming horizontally long straight as power-line points. To verify the algorithm, we used both real and simulated data as the input data. From the experimental results, it is shown that the average detection rate and time are 80% and 0.2 second, respectively. If we would improve the method based on the experiment results from the various flight scenario, it will be effectively utilized for a flight obstacle avoidance system.

In this paper, a curve-fitting channel estimation method is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in a time-varying frequency-selective fading channel. The method can greatly improve channel state information (CSI) estimation accuracy by performing smoothing and interpolation through consecutive curve-fitting processes in both time domain and frequency domain. It first evaluates least-squares (LS) estimates using pilot symbols and then the estimates are approximated to a polynomial with proper degree in the LS error sense, starting from one preferred domain in which pilots we densely distributed. Smoothing, interpolation, and prediction are performed subsequently to obtain CSI estimates for data transmission. The channel estimation processes are completed by smoothing and interpolating CSI estimates in the other domain once again using the channel estimates obtained in one domain. The performance of proposed method is influenced heavily on the time variation and frequency selectivity of channel and pilot arrangement. Hence, a proper degree of polynomial and an optimum approximation interval according to various system and channel conditions are required for curve-fitting. From extensive simulation results in various channel environments, we see that the proposed method performs better than the conventional methods including the optimal Wiener filtering method, in terms of the mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER).
For the dectection of small cavity in the hard rock, we investigated the feasibility of crosswell travel-time tomography and Kirchhoff migration technique. In travel-time tomography, first arrival anomaly caused by small cavity was investigated by numerical modeling based on the knowledge of actual field information. First arrival delay was very small (<0.125 msec) and detectable receiver offset range was limited to 4m with respect to $1\%$ normalized first arrival anomaly. As a consequence, it was turned out that carefully designed survey array with both sufficient narrow spatial spacing and temporal (<0.03125 msec) sampling were required for small cavity detection. Also, crosswell Kirchhoff migration technique was investigated with both numerical and real data. Stack section obtained by numerical data shows the good cavity image. In crosswell seismic data, various unwanted seismic events such as direct wave and various mode converted waves were alto recorded. To remove these noises und to enhance the diffraction signal, combination of median and bandpass filtering was applied and prestack and stacked migration images were created. From this, we viewed the crosswell migration technique as one of the adoptable method for small cavity detection.

Recently, the most popular technique to determine the Genotype, genetic features of individual organisms, is the GBS based on SNP from sequences determined by NGS. As analyzing the sequences by the GBS, TASSEL is the most used program to identify the genotypes. But, TASSEL has limitation that it uses only the partial sequences that is obtained by NGS. We tried to improve the efficiency in use of the sequences in order to solve the limitation. So, we constructed new data sets by quality checking, filtering the unused sequences with error rate below 0.1% and clipping the sequences considering the location of barcode and enzyme. As a result, approximately over 17% of the SNP detection efficiency was increased. In this paper, we suggest the method and the applied programs in order to detect more SNPs by using the disused sequences.

The propagation and delay properties in opical fiber are particularly attractive because digital signal processing and conventional analog signal processing techniques such as those using surface acoustic wave devices are limited In their usefulness for signal bandwidth exceeding one or two GHz, although they are very effective at lower frequencies. Since an accurate, low loss and short time delay elements can be obtained by using such an optical fiber, optical signal precessing has attracted much attention for high speed and broad-band signal precessing in particular channel separation filtering for optical FDM signals. In this paper, we consider a coherent optical lattice filter, which uses coherent light sources and consists of directional couplers and optical fiber delay elemnts. The optical fiber fitters are more restricted than the usual digital filters. The reasons are as follows. 1) the coupling coefficients of directional couplers are restricted to the number between 0 and 1. 2) optical signal E(complex amplitude) is divided into J If-$\boxUl$ and J L/7$\div$$\boxUl$ at the directional coupler. Considering these restrictions and in this case all the coupling coefficients of summing and branching elements are set to be equal, we have given design formulae for optical lattice filter, which make the best use of optical signal energy.

The mammogram provides the way to observe detailed internal organization of breasts to radiologists for the early detection. This paper is mainly focused on efficiently detecting the Microcalcification's Region Of Interest(ROI)s. Breast cancers can be caused from either microcalcifications or masses. Microcalcifications are appeared in a digital mammogram as tiny dots that have a little higher gray levels than their surrounding pixels. We can roughly determine the area which possibly contain microcalifications. In general, it is very challenging to find all the microcalcifications in a digital mammogram, because they are similar to some tissue parts of a breast. To efficiently detect microcalcifications ROI, we used four sequential processes; preprocessing for breast area detection, modified multilevel thresholding, ROI selection using simple thresholding filters and final ROI selection with two stages of neural networks. The filtering process with boundary conditions removes easily-distinguishable tissues while keeping all microcalcifications so that it cleans the thresholded mammogram images and speeds up the later processing by the average of 86%. The first neural network shows the average of 96.66% recognition rate. The second neural network performs better by showing the average recognition rate 98.26%. By removing all tissues while keeping microcalcifications as much as possible, the next parts of a CAD system for detecting breast cancers can become much simpler.
Although various recommendation techniques have been applied to the e-commerce market, few studies compare the intent to use these techniques from the customer's perspective. In this paper, we conduct a comparative analysis of customers' intention to use five recommendation techniques widely adapted by online shopping malls and focus on the differences in purchasing electronic goods and apparel products. The recommendation techniques are as follows: best-seller recommendation, merchandiser recommendation, content-based recommendation, collaborative filtering recommendation, and social recommendation. Additionally, we examine which factors influence customer intent to use the recommendation services. Data were collected through a survey administered to 220 e-commerce users with prior experience with recommendation services. Collected data were examined using analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results indicate statistically significant differences in customers' intention to use recommendation services according to the recommendation technique. In particular, the best-seller recommendation technique is preferred when purchasing electronic goods, whereas the content-based recommendation technique is preferred for apparel purchases. Factors such as personal characteristics and personality, purchasing tendency, as well as perception of the product or recommendation service affect a customer's intention to use a recommendation service. However, the influence of these factors varies depending on the recommendation technique. This study provides guidelines for companies to adopt appropriate recommendation techniques according to product categories and personal characteristics of customers.
A feature-based 3D modeling algorithm is presented in this paper. Since conventional methods use depth-based techniques, they need much time for the image matching to extract depth information. Even feature-based methods have less computation load than that of depth-based ones, the calculation of modeling error about whole pixels within a triangle is needed in feature-based algorithms. It also increase the computation time. Therefore, the proposed algorithm consists of three phases, which are an initial 3D model generation, model evaluation, and model refinement phases, in order to acquire an efficient 3D model. Intensity gradients and incremental Delaunay triangulation are used in the Initial model generation. In this phase, a morphological edge operator is adopted for a fast edge filtering, and the incremental Delaunay triangulation is modified to decrease the computation time by avoiding the calculation errors of whole pixels and selecting a vertex at the near of the centroid within the previous triangle. After the model generation, sparse vertices are matched, then the faces are evaluated with the size, approximation error, and disparity fluctuation of the face in evaluation stage. Thereafter, the faces which have a large error are selectively refined into smaller faces. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm could acquire an adaptive model with less modeling errors for both smooth and abrupt areas and could remarkably reduce the model acquisition time.
