A Study on The Controllability Function and Sevice Design for Disaster Damage Reduction in the IoT Environment

  • In this paper, we propose the controllability function and service design to efficiently implement the control of the disaster communication network, using Internet of Things(IoT) Technology. In accordance with the spread of Information Communication Technology(ICT), the era for building a disaster communications system without exclusion over the entire areas has emerged. National wireless mesh networks for public safety and disaster relief have been evolving to strengthen the pre-disaster response system using the latest technologies through the convergence of various technologies and services from the viewpoint of the command and control between disaster response agencies. In line with such a technological paradigm shift, the controllability of the objects in the IoT has been emerging as a key quality requirement of a disaster communications system. In this study, the objects are classified by the subject of control according to the IoT component, such as data, network resources and services in order to effectively implement their controllability. In addition, based on the destination of this controllability, technologies and services have been designed that can reduce the damage caused by disasters. Technologies and services that were derived from this study must be implemented in the current disaster safety network systems together with the establishment of an infrastructure for the networks in order that all persons are able to effectively utilize the disaster communications system for their safety.

  • This paper introduces radio frequency identification(RFID) information technologies for item management such as application interface of data protocol, data encoding rules and logical memory functions for data protocol, and, unique identification for RF tags. This study presents reference architecture and definition of parameters to be standardized, various parameters for air intreface communications, and, application requirements profiles.

2020년 미래 무선통신 유망기술 발굴 (Emerging Technologies in Mobile Communications for 2020)

  • 최근 효율적인 R&D와 경쟁력 확보를 목적으로, 미래기술을 예측하고 유망기술을 발굴하고자 하는 활동이 전 세계적으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 특히 무선통신 분야는 기술발전 속도가 빠르고 적용영역이 광범위하여 유망기술 발굴이 더욱 중요함에도 불구하고, 국내에는 관련연구나 사례가 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 무선통신 분야의 미래유망기술 발굴 방법론을 개발하고 이를 적용하여 2020년 무선통신 분야 10대 유망기술을 도출해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 첫째, STEEP 관점에서 미래 주요 이슈들을 도출하고, 둘째, 주요 이슈 별 사용자 니즈를 도출하였다. 셋째, 사용자 니즈를 만족시키기 위한 기술들로 유망기술 후보군을 구성한 뒤 기술성과 경제성 평가를 통해 이들의 우선순위를 도출하였으며, 마지막으로 10대 유망기술을 선정하고 선정결과의 타당성을 검토하였다. 본 연구는 기존 연구에서 주로 활용하던 기술주도(technology-push) 접근법 아닌 시장주도(market-pull) 접근법을 활용하여 유망기술을 발굴하고자 하였다는 점에서 방법론적 의의가 있을 것이며, 연구결과는 무선통신 산업 내 전략적, 정책적 의사결정을 지원할 것으로 기대된다.

통합 무선 기술 기반의 도시 교통 관리 시스템 설계 (Design of Urban Transport Management System Based on Integrated Wireless LAN Technologies)

  • Rapid developments of industry and economics have made a metropolis which demands an effective urban transport management system (UTMS). Specially, this paper considers a subway surveillance system based on integrated wireless LAN technologies for public safety. Since a current subway platform security entirely relies on conventional closed circuit television camera (CCTV) or human operators, subway train drivers cannot detect platform states and cope with abnormal situations or accidents immediately. However, through the IP cameras and some wireless routers, high qualify images of the platform conditions can be directly delivered to the train drivers and other station employees in advance of train entering the platform. In this paper, several design issues and problems are discussed when building up the subway management system. Further, we illustrate a system model with the system requirements in real parametric values in order to draw concrete system designs and to realize a practical implementation of the future UTMS.

  • 최근에 컴퓨터 기술, 특히 영상 처리, 무선 통신, 프로그래머블 로봇 기술이 발전하여 우리 일상 생활에 활발히 적용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기술들을 융합하여 사용자의 잘못된 자세를 탐지하고, 이를 사용자에게 알려주고, 사용자로 하여금 적극적으로 자세 교정을 할 수 있도록 도움을 주는 프로그래머블 로봇기반 방석을 개발한다. 또한 이를 통해 컴퓨터 관련 학과 학부생들이 창의적으로 문제를 정의하고 해결하는 과정에서 IT 융합형 프로그래머블 로봇이 갖는 효과를 분석한다.

Recent Trends in Standards Related to the Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine Communications

  • One of major purposes of these standard technologies is to ensure interoperability between entities from different vendors and enable interworking between various technologies. As interoperability and interworking are essential for machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) for them to achieve their ultimate goal, i.e., things to be connected each other, multiple standards organizations are now working on development M2M/IoT related specifications. This paper reviews the current activities of some of the most relevant standardization bodies in the area of M2M and IoT: third-generation partnership project (3GPP) core and radio network aspects, broadband forum, and oneM2M. The major features and issues being focused upon in these standards bodies are summarized. Finally, some key common trends among the different bodies are identified: a common service layer platform, new technologies mitigating an explosive growth of network traffic, and considerations and efforts related to the development of device management technologies.
