  • It is tremendously important to construct decision trees to use as a tool for knowledge representation from a given decision table. However, the usual algorithms may split the decision table based on each value, which is not efficient for numerical attributes. The methodology of this paper is to split the given decision table into binary groups as like the CART algorithm, that uses binary split to work for both categorical and numerical attributes. The difference is that it uses split for each attribute established by the directed acyclic graph in a dynamic programming fashion whereas, the CART uses binary split among all considered attributes in a greedy fashion. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of binary splits in comparison with each value splits when building the decision trees. Such effect can be studied by comparing the number of nodes, local and global misclassification rate among the constructed decision trees based on three proposed algorithms.

  • This paper describes a hierarchical method for image-based age estimation that combines age group classification and age value estimation. The proposed method uses a coarse-to-fine strategy with different appearance features to describe facial shape and texture. Considering the damage to continuity between neighboring groups caused by fixed divisions during age group classification, a dynamic grouping technique is employed to allow non-fixed groups. Based on the given group, an ordinal hyperplane ranking (OHRank) model is employed to transform age estimation into a series of binary enquiry problems that can take advantage of the intrinsic correlation and ordinal information of age. A set of experiments on FG-NET are presented and the results demonstrate the validity of our solution.

  • A number of new DTV technologies have been introduced to provide crystal clear picture and enhanced sound. HDTV, in particular has four times resolution of conventional TV along with 16:9 aspect ratio. Also the introduction of the new technologies offered a valuable basis for character graphics which was only an assistant method to deliver visual images effectively. Various sizes of displays for different applications such as high definition TV and mobile multimedia services have created demands for additional features of character graphics including proper letter fonts, colors, moving effects as much. This article analyzes in what way the visual elements above can affect uses' visual perception. New CG formats designed for OSMU, one source multi use, are also suggested available to each media. For the research three groups of CG designers, art directors and productions/distribution groups are established according to production process by two Delphi surveys of TV production staff.

The theoretical background was summarized on public data and use activation, joint use, convergence, administrative organization, and convergence constraints. These contents were explained Public Data Act, the Electronic Government Act, and the Data-Based Administrative Act. The research model was set as the data-based organizational capabilities effect by a data-based administrative capability, public data operation capabilities, and public data operation constraints. It was also set whether there is a capabilities difference data-based on an organizational operation by the level of data convergence capabilities. This study analysis was conducted with hierarchical cluster analysis and multiple regression analysis. As the research result, First, hierarchical cluster analysis was classified into three groups. It was classified into a group that uses only public data and structured data, a group that uses public data on both structured and unstructured data, and a group that uses both public and private data. Second, the critical variables of data-based organizational operation capabilities were found in the data-based administrative planning and administrative technology, the supervisory organizations and technical systems by public data convergence, and the data sharing and market transaction constraints. Finally, the essential independent variables on data-based organizational competencies differ by group. This study contributed. As a theoretical implication, this research is updated on management information systems by explaining the Public Data Act, the Electronic Government Act, and the Data-Based Administrative Act. As a practical implication, the activity reinforcement of public data should be promoting the establishment of data standardization and search convenience and elimination of the lukewarm attitudes and Selfishness behavior for data sharing.

  • In recent years, mobile ad-hoc networks have received a great deal of attention in both academia and industry to provide anytime-anywhere networking services. As wireless networks are rapidly deployed, the security of wireless environment will be mandatory. In this paper, we describe a group key management architecture and key agreement protocols for secure communication in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks (MANETs) overseen by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). We use implicitly certified public keys method, which alleviates the certificate overhead and improves computational efficiency. The architecture uses a two-layered key management approach where the group of nodes is divided into: 1) Cell groups consisting of ground nodes and 2) control groups consisting of cell group managers. The chief benefit of this approach is that the effects of a membership change are restricted to the single cell group.

  • We present a novel memory-efficient parallel ray casting algorithm for unstructured grid volume rendering on multi-core CPUs. Our method is based on the Bunyk ray casting algorithm. To solve the high memory overhead problem of the Bunyk algorithm, we allocate a fixed size local buffer for each thread and the local buffers contain information of recently visited faces. The stored information is used by other rays or replaced by other face's information. To improve the utilization of local buffers, we propose an image-plane based ray grouping algorithm that makes ray groups have high coherency. The ray groups are then distributed to computing threads and each thread processes the given groups independently. We also propose a novel hash function that uses the index of faces as keys for calculating the buffer index each face will use to store the information. To see the benefits of our method, we applied it to three unstructured grid datasets with different sizes and measured the performance. We found that our method requires just 6% of the memory space compared with the Bunyk algorithm for storing face information. Also it shows compatible performance with the Bunyk algorithm even though it uses less memory. In addition, our method achieves up to 22% higher performance for a large-scale unstructured grid dataset with less memory than Bunyk algorithm. These results show the robustness and efficiency of our method and it demonstrates that our method is suitable to volume rendering for a large-scale unstructured grid dataset.
