  • Average annual NDVI values from the NOAA/NASA Pathfinder AVHRR Land Data Sets from 1982 to 1994 showed comprehensive systematic displacement patterns in Asia. Inter-annual growing season data, however, did not show such systematic patterns. The most likely cause for the abrupt displacements, which appear especially in 1982, 1989 and 1990, may be changes in satellite sensors, although global warming, El Ni$\tilde{n}$o-Southern Oscillation events, changes in processing algorithms, and changes in land-use patterns in various parts of Asia may also play some role. The results suggest that researchers must be extremely careful in their inter-annual global change research, since direct use of the raw data could cause unexpected results. Growing-season NDVI shows decreases throughout most of Southeast Asia and modest gains in northern China and some parts in India, which could be related to land-use and land-cover changes.

  • Objective: Since certain chemicals are widely applied in a variety of consumer products, exposure via simultaneous use of multiple consumer products can put human health at risk. For this reason, use patterns of consumer products are an important factor inhuman health risk assessment. The aim of this study is to investigate co-use patterns of air-fresheners and deodorizers in Korea in order to estimate potential cumulative exposure. Methods: To collect the information on use patterns of air-fresheners and deodorizers, ten air-fresheners and 14 deodorizers were selected. A total of 3,000 participants were recruited and asked through on line questionnaires whether they had simultaneously used the selected air-fresheners and deodorant products in their daily lives. Results: Among the 3,000 participants, 45.6% had used more than two air fresheners and 46.3% used more than two deodorizers. The most common types of air fresheners used concurrently include liquid and candle types for indoor environments, while those of deodorizers were fabric trigger sprays and refrigerator gels. In addition, 73.7% used more than two products without product categories. Fabric trigger sprays were contained in all of the high-ranking product combinations. Conclusions: This study showed that many consumers concurrently used air-fresheners and deodorizers in their daily routines. For accurate exposure assessment, co-use patterns of consumer products should be further investigated.

  • The aim of this study is to utilize system trading for making investment decisions and use technical analysis and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) to determine similar patterns in the frequency of stock data and ascertain the optimal timing for trade. The study will examine some of the most common patterns in the futures market and use DTW in terms of their frequency (10, 30, 60 minutes, and daily) to discover similar patterns. The recognized similar patterns were verified by executing trade simulation after applying specific strategies to the technical indicators. The most profitable strategies among the set of strategies applied to common patterns were again applied to the similar patterns and the results from DTW pattern recognition were examined. The outcome produced useful information on determining the optimal timing for trade by using DTW pattern recognition through system trading, and by applying distinct strategies depending on data frequency.

  • In this paper, we present 2-step load cycle for daily load curve of up to and including 100kVA distribution transformer in domestic. Daily load patterns are classified by two methods dependent upon possession information. In case we possess daily load profiles make use of K-mean algorithm and in case we have not daily load profiles, make use of customer information of KEPCO. As the parameters of the load pattern classification, we use are daily load profiles and customer information of each distribution transformers. Data management system is used for NT oracle. We can present peak load magnitude, initial load magnitude and peak load duration for daily load patterns by 2-step load cycle for daily load curve of up to and including 100kVA distribution transformer in domestic. We think that this paper contributes to enhancing the distribution transformer overload criterion.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the patterns of unconsciousness smartphone use by using an app and a self-administered survey on smartphone addiction comparatively and examine differences between recognition and behavior about actual smartphone use and examine how smartphone addiction influences learning. With an app installed in smartphones, this author collected and analyzed data about users' unconsciousness using patterns for a month. According to the results, there were significant differences found in users' recognition and actual time for use and also frequency of turning on the display. Also, 22% of the subjects used their smartphone over 8 hours a day, and 76% more than 5 hours. Over 95% turned on the display more than 100 times a day, and in extreme cases, they did more than 300 times. In the meantime, users not only in the smartphone addiction high risk group and the potential risk group but also in the general user group are found to use their smartphone too long and too much and frequently turn on the display. The apps that the general user group is mainly using are entertaining apps, and their school records are rather good, so excessive use does not always lead to addiction or learning disorder. Therefore, if we develop more diverse contents for learning and provide digital literacy education, smartphone use will bring more positive effects instead. In follow-up research, the app should be corrected to collect more accurate information, and as variables in personal areas, this researcher will also measure depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and emotional control, and so on to see how they are associated with smartphone use.

  • For the factory automation(FA) of production or assembly lines, computer vision techniques have been widely used for the recognition and position-control of objects. In this application, it is very important to analyze characteristic features of each object and to find an efficient matching algorithm using the selected features. If the object has regular or homogeneous patterns, the problem is relatively simple. However, If the object is shifted or rotated, and if the depth of the input visual system is not fixed, the problem becomes very complicated. Also, in order to understand and recognize objects with concentric noise patterns, it is more effective to use feature-information represented in polar coordinates than in cartesian coordinates. In this paper, an algorithm for the recognition of objects with concentric circular noise-patterns is proposed. And position-conrtol information is calculated with the matching result. First, a filtering algorithm for eliminating concentric noise patterns is proposed to obtain concentric-feature patterns. Then a shift, rotation and scale invariant alogrithm is proposed for the recognition and position-control of objects uusing invariant feature information. Experimental results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed alogrithm.
