  • Policies are collections of general principles specifying the desired behavior and state of a system. Network management is mainly carried out by following policies about the behavior of the resources in the network. Policy-based (PB) network management supports to manage distributed system in a flexible and dynamic way. This paper focuses on configuration management based on Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards. Network security approaches include the usage of intrusion detection system to detect the intrusion, building firewall to protect the internal systems and network. This paper presents how the policy-based framework is collaborated among the network security systems (intrusion detection system, firewall) and intrusion detection systems are cooperated to detect the intrusions.

  • Purpose Although examining the antecedents of employees' extra-role behavior (i.e. information security participation behavior) in the information security context is significant for researchers and practitioners, most behavioral security studies have focused on employees' in-role behavior (i.e. information security policy compliance). Thus, this research addresses this gap by investigating how organizational information security climate influences information security participation behavior based on social information processing theory and Griffin and Neal's safety model. Design/methodology/approach We developed a research model by applying Griffin and Neal's safety model to the information security context and then tested our research model by conducting an online survey for employees of organizations with information security policies. Structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.3.2 is used to test the corresponding hypothesis. Findings Our results show that organizational information security climate, information security knowledge, information security motivation are effective in motivating information security participation behavior. Also, we find that organizational information security climate positively influences both information security knowledge and information security motivation. Our findings emphasize the importance of organizational information security climate because it is capable of affecting employees on information security participation behavior. Our study contributes to the literature on information security by exploring the role of organizational information security climate in enhancing employees' information security participation behavior.

  • An insider's information security incidents continue to occur, there is a growing demand for strengthening information security within the organization. However, when strict information security policies and rules are applied to employees of the organization, it can result as an information security stress and resistance behavior. The purpose of this study is to suggest the causes of insiders' negative information security behavior and factors that mitigate the cause. In particular, the study identifies how the mutual influence of individual (psychological empowerment) and organizational (justice climate) factors mitigates negative behavior. In this study, a sample was obtained by surveying workers of organizations that reflect information security policies to insiders, and hypothesis testing was performed by structural equation modeling. As a result of the analysis, role stress had a partial mediating effect on the effect of psychological empowerment on security policy resistance, and the justice climate strengthened the effect of psychological empowerment. Our results suggest a direction for reducing insider information security policy resistance, so it helps to establish a strategy for achieving internal information security goals.

  • It is quite necessary that an organization's information network should be equipped with a proper security system based on its scale and importance. One of the effective methods is to use the simulation model for deciding which security policy and mechanism is appropriate for the complex network. Our goal is to build a foundation of knowledge-based modeling and simulation environment for the network security. With this environment, users can construct the abstracted model of security mechanisms, apply various security policies, and quantitatively analyze their security performance against possible attacks. In this study, we considered security domain from several points of view and implemented the models based on a systematic modeling approach. We enabled the model to include knowledge in modular fashion and provided well-defined guidelines for transforming security policy to concrete rule set.

  • In this paper, we propose an analysis framework to capture the trends of information security incidents and evaluate the security policy based on the incident analysis. We build a big data from news media collecting security incidents news and policy news, identify key trends in information security from this, and present an analytical method for evaluating policies from the point of view of incidents. In more specific, we propose a network-based analysis model that allows us to easily identify the trends of information security incidents and policy at a glance, and a cosine similarity measure to find important events from incidents and policy announcements.

  • The Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol is most widely used as a security key exchange protocol on the Internet. Security policies used by the IKE protocol must be configured in advance, however the complex options and manual settings cause inconvenience. This paper proposes an automatic configuration method for the IKE protocol based on X.509 certificate. Security policies are embedded in the certificate, read, and added into the IKE configuration file by a negotiation assistant module in order to achieve automatic IKE configuration. Our proposed method reduces the complexity of configuration process and improves the adaptability of the IKE protocol.

  • With the changes in the modern computing landscape, securing containerized workloads and addressing the complexities of container networking have become critical issues. In particular, the complexity of network policy settings and the lack of cloud security architecture cause various security issues. This paper focuses on the importance of network security and efficiency in containerized environments, and analyzes the security features and performance of various container network interface plugins. In particular, the features and functions of Cilium, Calico, Weave Net, and Kube-router were compared and evaluated, and the Layer 3/4 and Layer 7 network policies and performance features provided by each plugin were analyzed. We found that Cilium and Calico provide a wide range of security features, including Layer 7 protocols, while Weave Net and Kube-router focus on Layer 3/4. We also found a decrease in throughput when applying Layer 3/4 policies and an increase in latency due to complex processing when applying Layer 7 policies. Through this analysis, we expect to improve our understanding of network policy and security configuration and contribute to building a safer and more efficient container networking environment in the future.

  • This study applied the Theory of Reasoned Action by Fishbein & Ajzen(1975) as the grounded theory and adopt sanctions of the General Deterrent Theory and protection motivation of the Protection Motivation Theory as the antecedents to discuss the theoretical factors and the cases of application in the field of information security. Then, it adopted subjective norm, a variable of the Theory of Reasoned Action, as a parameter to analyze the causality of sanctions, perceived vulnerability, response cost, and self-efficacy with the intention to follow the information security policies. As a result, all of the antecedents except for sanctions had causality with the intention and subjective norm proved its mediating effect as a parameter between the antecedents and the intention.

  • This study is conducted to examine the optimal integrated security policy based on network in case of attacks by implementing unique security policies of various network security equipments as an algorithm within one system. To this end, the policies conduct the experiment to implement the optimal security system through the process of mutually integrating the unique defense policy of Firewall, VPN(Virtual Private Network), IDS(Intrusion Detection System), and IPS(Intrusion Prevention System). In addition, this study is meaningful in that it designs integrated mechanism for rapid detection of system load caused by establishment of the security policy and rapid and efficient defense and secures basic network infrastructure implementation.
