The study examined information retrieval tools as predictors for information resources utilization, four research questions, and four hypotheses were made to guide the study. A descriptive survey was adopted for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select sample of 393 from a population of 557 academic staff registered in the University of Port Harcourt library. The questionnaire was adopted as a data collection instrument titled Information retrieval as predictors for information resources utilization (IRPIRUQ). Data were analyzed using both simple and multiple regression while analysis of variance (ANOVA) associate with regression was used for testing the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The study revealed that information resources are under utilized as the OPAC and Online Databases are not easily accessed. Further findings showed that the academic staff made use of internet search engines more often than the OPAC and online databases. It was recommended among others that a new library software be installed in place of KOHA for wider connectivity and adequate distribution of software that will aid usage of the online databases and OPAC.

This study investigated the information needs of prisoners and the adequacy of information resources in prison libraries in Anambra State, Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study. The population of the study was 1781 inmates in prisons in Anambra State. The sample size of 327 was selected using Taro Yamane's formula and proportionate stratified sampling techniques. Two instruments titled the Information Needs of Prisoners Questionnaire and the Adequacy of Information Resources Checklist were used for data collection. The instruments were validated by three experienced lecturers. One in the department of Educational Foundations (Measurement and Evaluation Unit) and two in the Department of Library and Information Science, all at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Cronbach's alpha was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire items, with a value of 0.79. The researchers administered the questionnaires with the help of four research assistants (correctional officers). Out of 327 questionnaires administered, 314 were successfully retrieved. The percentage return rate of distributed questionnaires is 96%. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of the mean; also, the International Federation of Library Association (IFLA) guideline for library services to prisoners was also used as a yardstick for the measurement of adequacy. The results from the data analysis indicated that prisoners have diverse information needs that, when met, would help them during their stay in prison as well as when they are eventually released; these needs include legal information, information on prison rules, financial information, and others. While there were few information resources found to be adequate, the inadequacy of most of the listed information resources is recorded in prison libraries in Anambra State, Nigeria. It is therefore recommended that information resources be made adequately available for prisoners in relation to their information needs.

This research investigates the availability of information resources for visually impaired students in University libraries in Nigeria; a tool for inclusive University education. A Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and a total number of 20 University libraries took parts in the study. A self-constructed online questionnaire was designed and distributed to collect the data from respondents (librarians) using a simple random sampling technique. A total of 45 respondents filled out the online questionnaire, but 40 were valid and useful for analysis. The use of frequency count and percentages method of data analysis was adopted for this research work. The study reveals that most of the University libraries lacked information resources for visually impaired students, it was found that the inclusion of information resources for visually impaired persons will promote inclusive education and librarians' skills. The challenges hindering the availability of information resources to the visually impaired students are insufficient funds for maintenance, erratic power supply and inadequate skills by users, among others. Recommendations were made for the campaign for inclusive education and the provision of information resources for visually impaired students.

This study adopted the descriptive survey research method. The population of this study comprised of the hearing impaired students in selected government secondary schools in Rivers state. The population of hearing impaired students in Rivers State is 257. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 159. A self-developed instrument titled "Availability and Utilization of Library Information Resources Questionnaire (AULIRQ)" was utilized for data collection. 153 responses were collated, indicating a 96.2% response rate. The data collected was arranged and analyzed using frequency count, percentages, and mean and standard deviation. Finding reveals that information resources in the libraries understudied were inadequate and under-utilized. Also, it was established that among other barriers, under-funding is a major barrier to making information resources available for the physically challenged. It was recommended that schools offering special education for the hearing impaired should pace up in their developmental gap by providing such resources and ensure adequate funding by all stakeholders.

최근 국내 외 수자원 정책의 방향은 전통적인 이 치수 부문과 함께 삶의 질을 향상을 위해 지속가능한 물 관리에 대한 필요가 강조되면서 수자원 정보의 수집, 관리 및 제공의 중요성이 증대되고 있다. 과거 수자원 정보는 제공하고자 하는 목적을 이미 정하고 거기에 맞도록 데이터를 효과적으로 분석하는 기술에 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 그러나 최근에는 정형 데이터뿐만 아니라 비정형 데이터를 연계함으로써 새로운 가치를 도출할 수 있는 빅 데이터와 클라우드 컴퓨팅에 대한 관심이 부각되면서 수자원 정보에도 변화를 가져오고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 수자원 정보 관리의 패러다임 변화에 능동적으로 대처하고, 수자원 정보의 효율적인 관리 및 이용을 위해 수자원 분야에서 빅 데이터와 클라우드 컴퓨팅의 적용 방안을 검토 및 제언하고자 하였다. 국내외 수자원 정보 관리의 현황과 방향을 살펴보고, 빅 데이터의 3대 요소인 크기(Volume), 속도(Velocity), 다양성(Variety)과 함께 추가적으로 언급되고 있는 정확성(Veracity), 가치(Value)개념을 연계하였다. 그리고 클라우드 컴퓨팅을 통해 증가하는 수자원 관련 빅 데이터와 수요자의 변화에 대해 신속하고 유연한 대처방안에 대하여 논의하였다. 앞으로의 수자원 정보 관리는 정보의 크기(Volume), 속도(Velocity), 다양성(Variety) 등의 빅 데이터와 클라우드 컴퓨팅 적용을 통한 인명과 재산의 보호 등 공공의 목적, 물 관리 및 재난의 예방과 대응에 필요한 정확한(Veracity) 정보의 생산, 그리고 다른 분야와의 융합 등에 적극적으로 활용함으로써 수자원 정보의 가치(Value)를 높이는 방행으로 나아가야 한다.

Music resources are characterized by quantization, diversification and complication. With the rapid increase of the demand for music resources, the storage of music resources is very large. In order to improve the retrieval effect of music resources, a massive music resources retrieval method based on ant colony algorithm is proposed to effectively use music resources. This paper constructs autocorrelation function to extract pitch feature of music resource, classifies the music resource information by calculating feature similarity. Using ant colony algorithm to correlate the feature of music resource, gain the result of correlative, locate the result of detection and get the result of multi-module. Simulation results show that the proposed method has high precision and recall, short retrieval time and can effectively retrieve massive music resources.

At present, the overall water resources monitoring ability in China is weak since there is an absence of a sound monitoring system and comprehensive monitoring information. In addition to the problem of weak management ability in monitoring, measurement and information, it can hardly meet the need of implementing the strictest management system of water resource and also restricts the practice of the system to some extent. The production states the necessity of further development of water resources monitoring ability and points out the concept of "One Country, One Account" for constructing water resources information. There is an analysis on the demand on further development of water resources monitoring ability and profound discussion about the strategies for supporting "three red-line" management.

This study aims to examine both the theoretical framework and practical method for the building a subject-oriented collection of information resources form Internet. Through the study, a few conclusions as well as a suggestion were derived. 1. Conclusions : (1) The continuous learning and studying by the librarians working in the information society is required in order that they could have a broader recognition of the existence of various resources from Internet by subject, and that they could be armed with a greater ability to evaluate for the information filtering. (2) The use of a subject directory to collect needed information resources form Internet revealed the necessity for going through many steps linked by hierarchical indexes till arriving at the desired information, and accordingly the great time was needed to conduct the work. (3) In case of using various search engines, since the output of the relevant information largely depends on the adequate defining of the topic, the right selection of search terms and the accurate methods of inputting the keywords, systematic organization of the resources is not simple and easy. The classifying work of collected resources for the topic into the broader categories differs from that of the resources form other topics, for example, psychology, because of the idiosyncrasy of the contents of the each topic. (4) As one method to provide more revolutionary value-added service using Internet, it is necessary for the librarians to learn the skills to build the Web resource pages of subject-oriented collection of information resources from Internet on the specific subject. 2. A suggestion : Since the study did not complete the collection and organization of the information resources from the Internet on this topic, the remaining research and task should be the thorough collection of resources and the building the Web resource pages consisting of interconnecting links of indexes by spending greater time.

The aim of this paper was to determine the utilization of online information resources by undergraduate students in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It was undertaken specifically with the objectives of identifying the online information resources used; academic purposes for their use, extent, problems and strategies for improving the academic use of the resources by undergraduate students. Descriptive survey was used as the research design. The population of this study comprises of all 25,657 regular registered undergraduate students in University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The sample for this study comprises 2500 students which is 10% of the population. The results of the study shows that most of the online information resources are not used by the undergraduate students. Just a few of them are highly used. Some of the academic purposes for the use of the resources include to do course assignment and project works and to stay up-to-date on social events. The major problems responsible for the low utilisation of the resources include incessant power failure, limited available computers in the university library, and server's low bandwidth. Based on the findings, maintenance of uninterrupted power supply, provision of enough computers in the library; constant upgrade of server's bandwidth and many more were recommended as the strategies for improving the use of online information resources by undergraduate students in UNN. The implication of this study lies in the fact that solutions to the problems raised would be helpful to the university management, librarians and students in ensuring maximum and adequate provision and effective utilisation of online information a resources in the library.

본 연구는 먼저 국내 과학기술정보의 효율적인 유통을 위하여 과학기술 분야의 국내 생산 정보자원에 대한 정의를 시도하고 포괄적인 조사를 통해 그 현황을 파악하고 분석하였다. 두 번째로는 과학기술분야 국내 정보자원의 데이터베이스화 현황 및 인터넷을 통한유통현황을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 국내 과학기술정보 유통상의 문제점을 보다 면밀히 분석하고 향후 발전방향 수립을 위한 고려사항을 논의하였다.
