  • Diverse multimedia services will be deployed at hand on 3G-and-beyond multi-service CDMA systems in order to satisfy different quality of service (QoS) according to traffic types. In order to use appropriate resources efficiently the call admission control (CAC) as a major resource control mechanism needs to be used to take care of efficient utilization of limited resources. In this paper, we propose a QoS-aware CAC (QCAC) that is enabled to provide service fairness and service differentiation in accordance with priority order and that applies the different thresholds in received power considering different QoS requirements such as different bit error rates (BER) when adopting total received power as the ceil load estimation. The proposed QCAC calculates the different thresholds of the different traffic types based on different required BER applies it for admission policy, and can get service fairness and differentiation in terms of call dropping probability as a main performance metric. The QCAC is aware of the QoS requirement per traffic type and allows admission discrimination according to traffic types in order to minimize the probability of QoS violation. Also the CAC needs to consider the resource allocation schemes such as complete sharing (CS), complete partitioning (CP), and priority sharing(PS) in order to provide fairness and service differentiation among traffic types. Among them, PS is closely related with the proposed QCAC having differently calculated threshold per each traffic type according to traffic priority orders.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective handoff mechanism using events at the layer 2 and a tunnel-based mechanism that is performed by sharing information of a mobile node and anticipated-based handoff. Also, we propose a novel anticipated-reservation mechanism using the events triggered at layer 2 to make easy a resource reservation procedure. Comparing with the existing mobile IPv6 handoff mechanism, our proposed handoff mechanism can reduce an amount of handoff latency and traffic volume between access routers where handoff is performed. In the anticipated-reservation mechanism, the amount of signaling traffics between an mobile node and the correspondent nodes can be reduced and then the allocation of resource can be accomplished. We present the performance of our proposed handoff mechanism in the wireless network environment by ns-2 simulation. Although the anticipated-reservation mechanism including a proxy agent is explained without performance evaluation, we can validate the operation of our proposed model only by the procedure of message flow.

  • The Stack Resource Policy (SRP) is a real-time synchronization protocol with some distinct properties. One of such properties is early blocking; the execution of a job is delayed instead of being blocked when requesting shared resources. If SRP is used with dynamic priority scheduling such as Earliest Deadline First (EDF), the early blocking requires that a scheduler should select the highest-priority job among the jobs that will not be blocked, incurring runtime overhead. In this paper, we analyze the runtime overhead of EDF scheduling when SRP is used. We find out that the overhead of job search using the conventional implementations of ready queue and job search algorithms becomes serious as the number of jobs increases. To solve this problem, we propose an alternative data structure for the ready queue and an efficient job-search algorithm with O([log$_2n$]) time complexity.

  • Device-to-device(D2D) links which share resources in a cellular network present a challenge in radio resource management due to the potentially severe interference they may cause to the cellular network. In this paper, a resource allocation scheme based on subset reuse methods is proposed to minimize the interference from the D2D links. We consider an adaptive group-wise subset reuse method to enhance the efficiency of frequency resource allocation for cellular and D2D links. A power optimization scheme is also proposed for D2D links if cellular links are interfered by adjacent D2D transmissions. The computer simulation results show that performance gain is obtained in link SINR, and total cell throughput increases as nearby traffic becomes more dominant.

  • This paper proposes a low power resource allocation and scheduling algorithm that minimized power consumption such as DSP circuit in high-level synthesis process. In this paper, we have used list-scheduling method for low power design in scheduling step. Also, it increase possibility to reuse input through resource sharing when assign resource. After scheduling, the resources allocation uses the power function in consideration of the result of calculating average hamming distances and switching activity between two input. First, it obtain switching activity about input value after calculate average hamming distances between two operator and find power value make use of bit pattern of the input value. Resource allocation process assign operator to minimize average hamming distance and power dissipation on all occasions which is allocated at each control step according to increase control step. As comparing the existed method, the execution time becomes fast according to number of operator and be most numberous control step. And in case of power that consume, there is decrease effect from 6% to 8% to be small.

  • This paper studies network recovery methods for WDM optical mesh networks, concentrating on improving spare resource utilization. The resource efficiency can be obtained by sharing spare resources needed for network recovery. To improve the sharability of spare resources in WDM networks, methods to share backup paths us well as spare capacity should be studied. The proposed method in this paper uses multiple ring-covers and this method provides fast and simple recovery operation by exploiting the characteristics of logical ring topology, and also provides efficient resource utilization by using multiple distributed backup paths to improve the sharability of overall spare resources in the networks. This method can provide layered reliability to network service by enabling hierarchical robustness against multiple failures. The performance results show that the proposed method provide improved resource efficiency for single failure and enhanced robustness for multiple failures.

  • D2D (Device-to-Device) communication underlaying LTE-advanced networks is a promising technology to improve the system capacity and spectral efficiency. By sharing the same radio resources with cellular user equipments, D2D communications can significantly enhance the overall spectral efficiency. However, it may cause interference between D2D link and cellular link. Careful resource allocation and interference coordination between cellular and D2D communications are very important and need to be properly handled. This paper proposes a radio resource allocation scheme based on FFFR (Flexible Fractional Frequency Reuse) for D2D communication underlaying cellular networks. The base station selects randomly resource blocks assigned to cellular users, and reuses them for a D2D pair. Through simulations, we have confirmed that the proposed scheme improves the system throughput, reduces the computational complexity, and mitigates the interference of D2D link and cellular link.

  • This research aims to propose new direction of mobile collaborative service by supplying functional supports which surpass data resource in smart devices. In this paper, we present Smart Collaboration Service Model that supports two types of collaboration, so called Supplying Collaboration and Sharing Collaboration. This model is a platform for supporting the resources as follows; sharing of data contact in other devices and supplying of special functions, like camera operation and picture transmission from other devices. To show its applicability, a prototype of Smart Collaboration Service Model has been implemented in the Android application for exchanging contact data and renting camera function. We expect that Smart Collaboration Service Model is to help the emergence for a new type of collaboration service. Also, user can reduces resource wastes for device as well as form personal smart space by utilizing all devices owned.

  • In this era of big data, a variety of government organizations are trying to create new added value via Information Integration. Therefore, several projects related to government agencies' information sharing have activated system connection/integration. The risk factors of system operation, however, have increased as the volume of Information Integration System grows. The interference in information sharing is predicted to affect the operation of the agencies, and the issue will grow even worse with massive impact on civil society when the agency operation is interrupted due to system failures in terms of infrastructure, software, data quality, and security. Diverse studies related to the maintenance of Information System have been conducted, but there is currently no evaluation framework for the operational system of Information Integration between various government agencies. In this respect, this study distinguishes each of the Information System components, Data, IT, People, Process, systematizes with Plan-Do-See, and finally presents a maturity model for Information Integration. Nine derived processes were analyzed through interview and questionnaires from Information Integration System officials, further suggesting maturity stage applying CMMI. This model allows diagnosis of the maturity level of an Information Integration System, and is expected to be utilized as resource for improving organizational processes.
