This research examines the push and pull factors of temple stay in Korean national parks. 152 participants of temple stay in Woljeongsa and Guryongsa in national parks in Gangwon-do area completed a survey to access their reasons for participating in temple stay(push factors) and to evaluate how well the visiting experience performed on a selected set of attributes(push factors). Demographics of respondents were similar to the visitor characteristics of Korean national parks. The result of factor analysis identified 6 push factor domains of 'self actualization', 'health enhancement', 'nature assimilation', 'relationship elevation', 'religious experience', and 'leisure experience'. 6 pull factor domains were 'recuperative quality', 'quality of a temple stay program', 'attributes of a temple', 'user convenience', 'tourism experience' and 'accessibility and transportation'. Satisfaction level of temple stay in a national park was very high of 4.71 in a 5 Likert scale. Gangwon- Do was most preferred with the percentage of 89.2 as a suitable area for temple stay in a national park. Findings of multi-dimensional tourism motivations of temple stay in a national park that encompass nature tourism, cultural tourism and religious tourism is expected to provide useful information for the future development of a more competitive temple stay program and a marketing strategy. However, more defined successive research work is required to generalize findings of wellness oriented push and pull factors of temple stay based on nature in national parks.
When a customer chooses a coffee shop, different factors can influence his/her purchase. These factors can include tangible as well as intangible elements such as the coffee shop's atmosphere, layout, and interior. Thus, many coffee brands strive to serve not only a diverse menu, but also a unique quality of environment. This study aimed to investigate the influence of physical environment on customer satisfaction and loyalty in the coffee shop and evaluate the influential power of the physical environment factors using hierarchical regression analysis. Data was collected from customers of coffee shops in Texas, the U.S. The study found that the coffee shops' physical environment influenced the customer's satisfaction and loyalty. Particularly, the coffee shop's physical environment including ambient and interior design greatly influenced the customers' satisfaction. However, a broad range of physical environment factors such as temperature, aroma, lighting, color, and interior furnishings should be provided to increase the customer loyalty. The results may have a broader application to provide effective managerial and marketing information to Korean coffee entrepreneur brand in the U.S. and beyond.
The interest on cruise service has been increased due to the economic development and income growth all over the world during last several decades. However, cruise industry in Korea is located in the initiating stage and the service is just focused on costal cruise service. This study investigates relationship between influencing factors of the selection attributes of cruise service on tourism satisfaction and behavioral intention. Additionally, the study aims to provide information to establish customer-oriented marketing strategies for cruise tour service. Literature review is conducted to find out the factors in order to meet the future users preference and expectations. The data was collected on-board customers of "One Night Cruise" on Panstar Line. The result of the study shows that a certain number of factors are statistically significant on the cruise tour intention of potential customers. It shows that there is significant difference related to the using purpose and the usage attitude. Managers in the cruise company are able to utilize the practical implications of the present study when the cruise service launches in Korea. This study exists limitations that samples are not sufficient and the research can not be generalized due to the inadequate samples of target company.
This study reviewed the existing studies in order to set up a strategy that can achieve the trust and business performance of the franchisers, who are actually operating franchised business, breaking from the research trend centered around franchise headquarters and added the factors of the franchise headquarters' strategy for expanding franchises, including word-of-mouth communication and advertising & publicity and added the exercise of recruitment agency outsourcing, flagship store, recently utilized often as preceding variables to verify the causal relation between the trust of the franchiser and the business performance of the franchise. The implications of this study, it can be concluded that the government authority for the attraction of healthy franchises can continuously attract franchises and enter the market can continuously attract franchises by increasing the trust of the franchises, and powerfully investing and managing them for the effort through word-of-mouth marketing. It is expected that this study will be helpful in the establishment of a business strategy for forming a continuous relationship as well as the franchise head office's strategy for the recruitment of new franchises.
Fresh cut vegetables provide convenience and rapidity to consumers. However, they have a weakness with respect to their short shelf-life due to browning and quality degradation via increased respiration. To overcome this problem, the effect of packaging film on the short-term storage of cut kimchi cabbages was investigated. Polypropylene (PP), oriented polypropylene (OPP), and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films were used as packaging film, and cut kimchi cabbages were stored in the packaging films at $5^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks. PP film packaging showed the least weight loss and soluble solids loss after 4 weeks. Titratable acidity increased during storage for all samples, however, the increase rate of titratable acidity in PP and OPP film packaging decreased, which was lower than that of LDPE film packaging. Color values decreased over time during storage. In appearance, PP film packaging was better than other films due to their high transparency. In a sensory test, there was no statistical difference among samples. Taken together, the transparent PP film packaging was more effective for short-term storage of cut kimchi cabbages. Thus, this study provides useful information for the selection of packaging materials for cut kimchi cabbage marketing.
The purposes of this study were to identify the economic impacts of hosting a marine leisure event and thus provide fundamental information that helps maximize the economic value of the event. In order to accomplish such purposes, this study employed both an economic impact analysis(EIA) using regional input output model and a benefit and cost ratio analysis(BCR). In specific, this study utilized a survey method with a total of 300 event visitors and 70 foreign players and thus collected expenditure data from 110 valid out of town visitors and 58 foreign players. In addition, investment expenditure data were collected from the host city official. Accordingly, EIA and BCR indicated following findings. First, the total direct impact from both visitors and players was 387 million Won and this direct impact resulted in output multiplier effect(OME) of 591 million Won, value added multiplier effect(VAME) of 306 million Won and income multiplier effect(IME) of 252 million Won. Second, the host city's investment expenditure created OME, VAME and IME of 825, 432 and 366 million Won, respectively. In conclusion, these findings suggest that in order to effectively boost potential economic benefits, more marketing efforts development policies should be implemented for increasing the number of out of town visitors and the amount of spendings from them.
Association rule mining techniques enable us to acquire knowledge concerning sales patterns among individual items from voluminous transactional data. Certainly, one of the major purposes of association rule mining is utilizing the acquired knowledge to provide marketing strategies such as catalogue design, cross-selling and shop allocation. However, this requires too much time and high cost to only extract the actionable and profitable knowledge from tremendous numbers of discovered patterns. In currently available literature, a number of interest measures have been devised to accelerate and systematize the process of pattern evaluation. Unfortunately, most of such measures, including support and confidence, are prone to yielding impractical results because they are calculated only from the sales frequencies of items. For instance, traditional measures cannot differentiate between the purchases in a small basket and those in a large shopping cart. Therefore, some adjustment should be made to the size of market baskets because there is a strong possibility that mutually irrelevant items could appear together in a large shopping cart. Contrary to the previous approaches, we attempted to consider market basket's size in calculating interest measures. Because the devised measure assigns different weights to individual purchases according to their basket sizes, we expect that the measure can minimize distortion of results caused by accidental patterns. Additionally, we performed intensive computer simulations under various environments, and we performed real case analyses to analyze the correctness and consistency of the devised measure.
This study aims to suggest better future-oriented improvements by considering the traits and changes of the curriculum of the courses related to the field of fashion. To get the best results from the study, out of all the fashion-related majors (courses) from 4-year based universities in Korea, 65 was selected and divided into 24 courses in the category of clothing & textiles, 34 courses in the category of fashion design and 7 courses in the category of fashion industry in 7 universities, and their education goals and contents of the curriculum posted on the internet homepage of each university were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, with the result from analyzing what the core terms have in common, which are used to express the educational purposes of fashion-related courses in Korea, the ideal type of talents that most of the fashion-related courses tend to pursue can be said to be those who are equipped with a sense of future-oriented creative direction and international communication capability, based on a multidisciplinary general capability, a professional executive ability, an information-analytic ability and an ability of planning, as well as in possession of a sense of beauty, creativity and a scientific mind. Secondly, with the traits of the curriculum of courses in each category, it was found that the category of clothing & textiles courses belongs to colleges of human ecology the most, and in terms of major subjects, the relative importance of clothing science seemed high compared to other school categories while the category of fashion design courses belongs to colleges of art, modeling or design the most, and in terms of major subjects, the scope of dress design appeared the widest, and finally the category of fashion industry courses belongs to colleges of natural science the most, and the relative importance of marketing seemed quite high. Moreover, with the result mentioned earlier, It was found that the names of departments and majors of fashion-related courses are differentiated, depending on what kind of college they belong to, and their curriculum have been differentiated to some degree accordingly. Thirdly, as shown above, Korean universities have attempted to make a lot of changes in the curriculum of fashion-related courses according to changes of the age, compared to what they did in the past, but they have still seemed to lack many things for the cultivation of talents fit for their educational purposes. Through the result from investigating both the changes of the current age and the directions in developing the curriculum, the study came to conclusion that each university in Korea should develop the major curriculum of fashion-related courses that are more sophisticated and intensive fit for the its department name and educational purposes.
Purpose - The objective of this study is to verify whether there are differences between Korean and Chinese consumers in the importance of the attributes such as shopping value and loyalty in social commerce. With the purpose of finding out these differences, the following questions are set up as research questions. First, will there be a difference between Korea and China in the importance of attributes of social commerce? Second, will there be a difference between Korean and Chinese consumers in shopping value? Third, will there be a difference between Korean and Chinese consumers in their loyalty? Research design, data, and methodology - The researchers collected data through self-administered questionnaires from Korean and Chinese consumers who had used social commerce within the past six months before answering the questionnaire. First, for social commerce users in Korea, comprising male and female university students in Chungcheong, a questionnaire was circulated. For social commerce users in China, university students within Beijing were surveyed. Responses to 336 questionnaires were used, excluding those with no answers or unreliable answers. Data coding and data cleaning were used. SPSS 18.0 was used. First, exploratory factor analysis is done to verify the validity of testing tools, and Cronbach's α coefficient is used to verify credibility. For factor analysis, the Varimax method is used. To verify the internal consistency reliability of each factor, the Cronbach's α coefficient is used to verify the credibility. Second, a T-test is done to verify differences between Korean and Chinese consumers for the importance of attributes. Third, ANOVA (Analysis of variance) is done to verify differences between Korean and Chinese consumers in shopping value and loyalty. Results - When Korean and Chinese consumers use social commerce, first, the importance of the attributes of social commerce is affected by four factors; playfulness and economic factors are more important to Korean consumers than Chinese consumers. As for informativeness factors, including product information and quality, and buyer comments, there was no confirmed difference between Korean and Chinese consumers. The convenience factor is more important to Chinese consumers than Korean consumers. Second, the factors affecting shopping value for Korean and Chinese consumers were hedonic shopping value and rational shopping value. To see the difference between Korean and Chinese consumers in shopping value factors, a t-test is conducted. As a result, in the rational shopping value factors of social commerce, Korean consumers scored higher than did Chinese consumers. These results were verified to be meaningful through statistics. In the hedonic shopping value factor of social commerce, Korean consumers scored higher than Chinese consumers. These results showed a significant difference. Third, loyalty in social commerce is higher for Chinese consumers than for Korean consumers. However, there is no difference in loyalty depending on sex. Conclusion - These results will hopefully be valuable and used in the future by Korean companies that wish to enter the Chinese social commerce market.
The number of people who perform their banking business on Internet has been increasing drastically during the recent period and the trend still continues. Banks and other types of financial institutions are now competing intensely with each other in attracting customers to this new innovative banking service. The marketers in charge of formulating and implementing the strategies for this new banking business need to understand the behavioral factors as well as the technical factors in order to succeed in attracting more customers to this new service. products. A deep understanding as to why and how the customers are adopting the new service developed on information technology is a prerequisite for a successful marketing effort. The purpose of this dissertation is to find out what factors are playing important roles in the customers'decision related to the adoption of the Internet banking services. The focus of the research is threefold. First. by testing the hypotheses proposed by the Technology Adoption Model, a well-known theory in the IT-related behavioral science, an analysis was made as to which factors are more important in affecting the attitudes and adoption of the Internet banking on the part of customers. Secondly, an analysis was made as to whether the three criteria of the Technographics- -the attitude toward new technology, level of income, and the motivational factor- -are useful as the criteria for segmenting the Korean users of the online banking. Thirdly, an analysis was made as to whether each customer group segmented by the criteria of the Technographics reveal a differential decision process and thus requires a differential approach strategywise.
