E-Smart Health Information Adoption Processes: Central versus Peripheral Route

  • Our study adopted ELM (Elaboration Likelihood Model) to measure the impact of central and peripheral cues on e-healthcare website behavior and its consequence on perceived loyalty of users. While most of ELM studies did not elaborate the antecedent of both central and peripheral cues, we measured the antecedents of those information processing routes to clarify how technical and quality factors (i.e. information organization, security concern, and website attractiveness) develop the nature of either central or peripheral route. We found that information organization was the main antecedent of information quality presented on the website. Second, the results revealed that website security has a positive effect on website credibility. Third, we also found that website attractiveness was positively associated with website credibility. Fourth, consistent with elaboration likelihood model, the empirical findings suggested that information quality (central cue) and website credibility (peripheral cue) were strong predictors of behavior intention to use health website. Our findings also suggested that behavior intention to use health website significantly influenced perceived loyalty.

한의 정보 시스템에서 처방 정보의 모델링 및 표현 방법 (Models and Representations of Formulas in Korean Medicine Information Systems)

  • Objectives: We propose a method to model and represent formulas in Korean medicine information systems. Methods: All the formulas were codified in the form of graphs representing the relationship between a formula and its constituents. To identify a unique formula in a graph, the formula's name, the book in which the formula was written, the book where the formula was extracted, and the page number in the extracted book are used. All the formulas and the relationship between formulas are modelled as an ontology based on graphs. Results: A formula search system was constructed using our ontology, which can represent formula information efficiently by grouping and filtering of formulas. Our formula model was also constructed as a mobile application. Conclusions: The information in our formula search system depends on our ontology. However, our model or our search scenarios could be extended according to formula information.

국내 원전 엔지니어링운영모델 활용성 향상을 위한 시스템 개발 (Development of Electronic Management System for improving the utilization of Engineering Model in Domestic Nuclear Power Plant)

  • A standard engineering model that reflects the current organization system and engineering operation process of domestic nuclear power plants was developed based on the Standard Nuclear Performance Model developed by the American Nuclear Energy Association. The level 0 screen, which is the main screen of the engineering model computer system, consisted of an object tree structure, which provided information that is phased down from a higher structure level to a lower structure level (i.e., level 3). The level 1 screen provided information related to the sub-process of the engineering operation, whereas the Level 2 screen provided information related to each engineering operation activity. In addition, the Level 2 screen provided additional functions, such as linking electronic procedures/guidelines, providing electronic performance forms, and connecting legacy computer systems (such as total equipment reliability monitoring system, configuration management systems, technical information systems, risk monitoring systems, regulatory information, and electronic drawing system). This screen level increased the convenience of user's engineering tasks by implementing them. The computerization of an engineering model that connects the entire engineering tasks of an establishment enables the easy understanding of information related to the engineering process before and after the operation, and builds a foundation for the enhancement of the work efficiency and employee capacity. In addition, KHNP developed an online training module, which operates as an e-learning process, on the overview and utilization of a standard engineering model to expand the understanding of standard engineering models by plant employees and to secure competitiveness.

Developing an Evacuation Evaluation Model for Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms Using BIM and Agent-based Model

  • Accidents on offshore oil and gas platforms (OOGPs) usually cause serious fatalities and financial losses considering demanding environment platforms locate and complex topsides structure platforms own. Evacuation planning on platforms is usually challenging. The computational tool is a good choice to plan evacuation by emergency simulation. However, the complex structure of platforms and varied evacuation behaviors usually weaken the advantages of computational simulation. Therefore, this study developed a simulation model for OOGPs to evaluate different evacuation plans to improve evacuation performance by integrating building information modeling (BIM) and agent-based model (ABM). The developed model consists of four parts: evacuation model input, simulation environment modeling, agent definition, and simulation and comparison. Necessary platform information is extracted from BIM and then used to model simulation environment by integrating matrix model and network model. During agent definition, in addition to basic characteristics, environment sensing and dynamic escape path planning functions are also developed to improve simulation performance. An example OOGP BIM topsides with different emergent scenarios is used to illustrate the developed model. The results showed that the developed model can well simulate evacuation on OOGPs and improve evacuation performance. The developed model was also suggested to be applied to other industries such as the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

Development of an Object-Relational IFC Server

  • In this paper we propose a framework for an Object Relational IFC Server (OR-IFC Server). Enormous amounts of information are generated in each project. Today, many BIM systems are developed by various CAD software vendors. Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) developed by International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) is an open standard data model for exchanging data between the various BIM tools. The IFC provides a foundation for exchanging and sharing of information directly between software applications and define a shared building project model. The IFC model server is a database management system that can keep track of transactions, modifications, and deletions. It plays a role as an information hub for storing and sharing information between various parties involved in construction projects. Users can communicate with each other via the internet and utilize functions implemented in the model server such as partial data import/export, file merge, version control, etc. IFC model servers using relational database systems have been developed. However, they suffered from slow performance and long transaction time due to a complex mapping process between the IFC structure and a relational-database structure because the IFC model schema is defined in the EXPRESS language which is object-favored language. In order to simplify the mapping process, we developed a set of rules to map the IFC model to an object-relational database (ORDB). Once the database has been configured, only those pieces of information that are required for a specific information-exchange scenario are extracted using the pre-defined information delivery manual (IDM). Therefore, file sizes will be reduced when exchanging data, meaning that files can now be effectively exchanged and shared. In this study, the framework of the IFC server using ORDB and IDM and the method to develop it will be examined.

  • 오늘날 정보화 사회에서 경쟁하는 기업들에 있어서 데이터품질 저하는 기업경쟁력 하락과 새로운 비용창출이라는 부정적인 영향요인으로써 작용하고 있다. 이러한 데이터품질 저하의 문제를 해결하기 위해 데이터품질에 대한 많은 선행연구들이 진행되어 왔으며, 데이터품질의 측면 중 결과적 이고 현상적인 품질개념인 데이터 값의 품질과 데이터서비스의 품질에 대해 주로 연구되어 왔다. 이에 반해 본 연구에서는 원인적인 데이터품질 개념인 데이터의 구조적 품질을 메타데이터 관리의 관점에서 연구하였으며, 이를 통해 평가와 개선을 위한 관리의 관점이 적용된 데이터품질관리 성숙도모델을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제시한 데이터품질관리 성숙도모델의 타당성 검증을 위해 데이터품질 관리단계가 성숙될수록 데이터품질수준이 높아지게 된다는 것을 실증적으로 검증하였다.

  • 지식기반사회에서 문화정보의 중요성이 부각되면서 전반적인 국가경제 패러다임의 변환이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 문화정보의 중요성과 국가 문화정보망의 필요성에 대하여 정책적 분석과 현황적 분석, 그리고 경제적 분석을 통한 당위성을 제시하고자 한다. 이러한 당위성에 근거하여 새로운 국가 문화정보망의 현황과 구체적인 구축 방향을 제시함으로써 국가 차원의 문화정보의 육성정책을 강조하고자 한다.

  • This study presents a way to generate and manage engineering information by applying steel bridge information model with 3D shape to existing application program. ACIS solid modeling kernel is used to visualize 3D geometric shape of steel bridge on the AutoCAD program. The shape information of 3D solid model can be connected to structural design information of steel bridge by an application module based on information model. The application module for manipulating steel bridge information can be easily developed by ObjectARX programming library supporting functional expansion of AutoCAD program. End-users can use the application module without any additional environmental setup on the AutoCAD. Thus this study facilitates information management of steel bridge by using ACIS solid modeler and ISO/STEP methodology.

  • Importance of Today's diffusion of integrated hospital information systems is that various and huge amount of data is being accumulated in their database systems. Many researchers have studied utilizing such hospital data. While most researches were conducted mainly for medical diagnosis, there have been insufficient studies to develop medical care cost prediction model, especially using machine learning techniques. In this research, therefore, we built a medical care cost prediction model for cancer patients using CBR (Case-Based Reasoning), one of the machine learning techniques. Its performance was compared with those of Neural Networks and Decision Tree models. As a result of the experiment, the CBR prediction model was shown to be the best in general with respect to error rate and linearity between real values and predicted values. It is believed that the medical care cost prediction model can be utilized for the effective management of limited resources in hospitals.

  • The purpose of this study is to construct a value-oriented sizing and cost estimation model for system integration projects. In particular, this study is to build a system architecture design and integration cost model, and a network design and implementation cost model. Unlike software development projects, system integration projects include knowledge-intensive professional services on system architecture and network design areas. Because of these work's high invisibility, the cost of these services is hard to estimate and measure. Therefore, we need to develop value-oriented cost models. This study presents 6 value-oriented cost models, and tests statistical significance of these models with real system integration project data. The results show that cost factors on these models are valid, and models are statistically significant. Future work is needed to integrate various cost models and apply the whole model to field projects to increase model's prediction accuracy.
