  • This study investigated the effect of oral health on health-related quality of life in cancer patients and cancer survivors using data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination survey. Data analysis was a complex sample analysis using SPSS/WIN 26.0. As a result of conducting complex sample logistic regression analysis to investigate factors affecting the quality of life of cancer patients and cancer survivors, the average quality of life was 1.18 points for cancer patients and 1.16 points for cancer survivors. The quality of life of cancer patients was significantly lowerer when they had discomfort chewing and speech difficulties, and needed dentures. Cancer suvivors was significantly lowerer when they had speech difficulties. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize the importance of oral care for cancer patients and cancer survivors, and to develop and utilize oral health care programs so that continuous and professional access to oral health care is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether a group reminiscence program is effective in improving self-esteem and reducing depression in the elderly. The subjects of the study were 20 men and women aged 65 or older who used a senior welfare center located in N City. They were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=10) and control group (n=10). Self-esteem and Korean Depression Scale (GDS-K) were used as measurement tools to verify the effectiveness of the program. The experimental group conducted a total of 10 sessions, once a week, for 80 minutes each. A group counseling program was implemented for the experimental group, and no measures were taken for the control group during the same period. To verify the effectiveness of this program, the SPSS 21.0 statistical program was used to calculate the mean and standard deviation of the pre- and post-tests for each group and conduct an independent samples t-test. As a result of the study, the experimental group that implemented the program significantly improved self-esteem and significantly decreased depression compared to the control group. Based on these results, the significance and limitations of the study were discussed.

  • This study aims to understand marine therapy through an overall review of the marine therapy industry and provide basic data for policy establishment on marine therapy based on this. Talasotherapy refers to the medical use of marine climate, seawater, marine mud, algae, sand and other marine extracts, which are beneficial components of the ocean for preventive and therapeutic purposes. Centers in Taean, Goseong, Uljin, and other marine healing pilot projects should be well combined with programs within rehabilitation clinics so that local tourism and marine healing programs can be combined, and how well the existing marine infrastructure is established is a very important factor. Establish legal and institutional foundations, inter-ministerial and central-local cooperative governance by reorganizing laws and regulations related to marine healing and establishing a cooperative system between ministries and regions. It is necessary to expand the function of the marine therapy R&D project to play a role as a marine therapy center for each coastal region.

  • In this study, senior general hospital, general hospital medical institutions certified by the Electronic Medical Record System Management Portal in 2021 were surveyed on the recognition of changes in medical information management and EMR system functionality. Through verification, it was implemented to promote future development of the certification system and long-term development of the electronic mandatory record certification system. A total of 1,189 respondents were used for final analysis using structured questionnaires, and in particular, differences in recognition of certification systems and system functionality after EMR certification were verified by conducting average analysis and ANOVA. As a result of analysis, the electronic mandatory record certification system was confirmed to affect positive work changes and perceptions on medical institution workers, and after certification of the electronic mandatory record system, it showed operational effects in many ways. Based on the results of this study in the future, communication follow-up research is needed.

  • This study is a descriptive survey research attempted to determine the effect of Herzberg's motivation-hygiene factors on male nurses' organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and intention to stay. The participants were 117 male nurses. Data were collected by a survey using self-administrated questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 software. As a result of the study, both motivation-hygiene factors were found to have a significant impact on male nurses' organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and intention to stay, which the explanatory power of the overall model was 39%, 51%, 15% each. Therefore, a motivational strategy by understanding motivation-hygiene theory proposed by Herzberg is needed to allow male nurses to be satisfied with their jobs and continue to work by committing to their organization.

  • 2018 aged patient dataset (HIRA-APS), 33,821 patients admitted to long-term care hospitals were classified by major disease groups to identify the characteristics of medical use and provide effective policy data. First, it is necessary to operate specialized long-term care hospitals such as dementia, rehabilitation, hospice, and recovery specialization tailored to the characteristics of the patient's disease group. Second, the paralysis group, cerebrovascular disease group, and dementia group were the longest LOS and the cognitive impairment group is the longest by patient classification group, requiring medical demand and quality management for long-term patients. Third, the musculoskeletal disease group was the highest normal discharge, and support for the post-discharge home program is required in paralysis and cerebrovascular disease.

  • This study aims to develop a laryngoscope that can more quickly remove foreign substances in the mouth and perform endotracheal intubation and confirm its usefulness. A laryngoscope suitable for the purpose was manufactured and conducted on 30 fourth-year students at H University. The experimental method was to perform oral suction and endotracheal intubation after inserting a laryngoscope when there was no foreign material, and when there was a foreign material, endotracheal intubation was performed using a laryngoscope with an aspirator attached. When a foreign body was present, suction was performed using the existing method and the developed integrated laryngoscope. The suction time was shorter when the integrated laryngoscope was used than the existing method, and a statistically significant difference was found (p< .000). In the case of the time required for endotracheal intubation, the time required for endotracheal intubation was shorter when the integrated laryngoscope was used than the conventional method, and a statistically significant difference was found (p< .000). The development of an integrated laryngoscope with an aspirator is a useful device that can more effectively remove foreign substances and perform endotracheal intubation when there are foreign substances in the mouth.

  • Oral diseases have been reported to affect approximately 3.5 billion people worldwide, and in Korea, gingivitis and periodontal disease ranked first in the most frequent diseases from 2019 to 2021. Microorganisms that cause oral diseases include not only some bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Streptococcus gordonii, Leptotrichia buccalis, Prevotella, and Treponema, but also fungi Candida albicans and archaea Methanobrevibacter oralis. In the process by which oral microorganisms cause periodontal disease, bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans first proliferate to form a biofilm, and then obligate anaerobes, opportunistic bacteria, and pathogens attach, proliferate and settles down, forming plaque in the subgingival area of the host with weakened immunity. In this way, various interactions within the community are important in causing oral disease. Furthermore, substances and inflammation resulting from oral microorganisms and oral diseases are closely related to the occurrence of digestive diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cognitive function, rheumatoid arthritis, premature birth, and cancer, and vice versa.
