  • In order to define what the average Class I malocclusion looks like, 72 Class I malocclusions were compared with corresponding measurements from 90 cases of normal occlusion sample. This sample was obtained from the Department of Orthodontics, Infirmary of Seoul National University. 1. SNA, Fac(NP) to SN measurements were significantly different from the normal occlusions and smaller than the normal occlusion means. 2. 'Y' axis to SN, Mandibular plane to SN, $\underline{1}$ to Occlusal plane, $\bar{1}$ to NB(linear) measurements were significantly different from the normal occlusions and larger than the normal occlusions. 3. ANB, Occlusal plane to SN, AB to Occlusal plane, $\underline{1}$ to SN, $\bar{1}$ to SN, $\bar{1}$ to Occlusal plane measurements showed no significant difference between the means.

  • The author observed a rare case of fibrous dysplasia in 12years old female who came to the Infirmary of Dental College, Seoul National University, complaining of facial asymmetry at 3 years' duration in right maxilla-facial region. The serial radiograms has been taken and the nature of the ]esion established as a typical fibrous dysplasia according to the interpreted findings in their images. The author has obtaind the results as follows: 1. Fibrous dysplasia occured at 3 years of age in this case. 2. Familial tendency, traumatic history and endocrine. disturbances: were: not noted in this patient. 3. The serial radiograms revealed a typical fibrous dysplasia encroaching Tight zygomatic bone.

  • The author has observed 64 films from M. P. D. syndrome cases taken in Dept. of Radiology, the Infirmary of Dental College, Seoul National University in 1974, and obtained the following results: 1. In M. P. D. syndrome, the ratio between the female and the male were 2:l. 2. The prevalenting age were aged 20, 30, 10, and 40 in decreasing order. 3. The incidence was 21.8% in the left side, 29% in the right, and 21% was bilaterally, which show the right most frequent. 4. The roentgenograms revealed variable findings in each case, but there were not recognized any significant differences.

  • 14 patients, whose were attacked pain dysfunction syndrome of temporomandibular joint in Dental College Infirmary, Seoul National University from June 1970 to Dec. 1971, were examined regarding to clinical observation and electromyographical analysis. This paper established the followings: 1. Especially young female was more frequently attacked by pain dysfunction syndrome of Temporomandibular joint. 2. It is suggested that most of joint pain was occurred initially in opening mouth and forcible bite, and left side is more attacked than right side. 3. It was possible that this dysfunction can be occurred by open-bite, premature contact and ill-fitting prosthetic restoration. 4. Hoby, habit and bruxism as causal factors are not markedly related with this dysfunction. 5. Pain attacked regions, in most patients, are preauricular, joint itself, infra-auricular, cervical and external auditory meatus region. 6. In electromyographical studis, the musle activities of affected side of pain dysfunction syndrome are more strong than that of opposite side.

  • The purpose of this survey was to reveal a incidence of dens invaginatus in the max. illary incisor region. The material was 1671 sets of full mouth intraoral standard films, which was taken from the patients visiting for the routine check at the Infirmary of College of Dentistry, Kyung Hee University. The following results were obtained; 1. The incidence of dens invaginatus was 14.90 and that of slightly dilated dens invaginatus was 9.46%. 2. The incidence of dens invaginatus showed no difference between male and female. 3. Most of the dens invaginatus occurred in the maxillary lateral incisors (93.53%) and a few in the maxillary central incisors (6.46%) showed slight invagination. 4. Among the cases with dens invaginatus, over a half (53.4l%) showed bilateral occurrence. 5. Comparatively rare cases, i.e. bilateral dens invaginatus of the maxillary central incisors, unilateral double dens invaginatus of the maxillary lateral incisor, and bilateral dens invaginatus of the maxillary lateral incisors, one side double and one side single, were reported.

  • The author observed a case of the malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the mandible in 23 aged male patient, who had come to the Infirmary of Dental College, Yonsei University. With the help of careful analysis of radioraphic and clinicopathologic findings, the author had obtained the results as follows. 1. Lesion occured at 22 years of age. 2. Traumatic history or other special predisposing factors were not seen. 3. Lesion appeared as a intra osseous primary tumor not showing any metastatic change. 4. The author have concluded this disease as a malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the mandible according to serial findings.

  • The xTAG$^{(R)}$ Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel (GPP) is a multiplexed molecular test for 15 gastrointestinal pathogens. The sensitivity and specificity of this test were assessed in 901 stool specimens collected from pediatric and adult patients at four clinical sites. A combination of conventional and molecular methods was used as comparator. Sensitivity could be determined for 12 of 15 pathogens and was 94.3% overall. The specificity across all 15 targets was 98.5%. Testing for the pathogen identified was not requested by the physician in 65% of specimens. The simultaneous detection of these 15 pathogens can provide physicians with a more comprehensive assessment of the etiology of diarrheal disease.

  • The authors observed, in the routine roentgenographic examination, a rare case of Giant cell Reparative Granuloma found in the mandible of woman 23 years of age who had visited Infirmary of Dental College, Seoul National University' because of the traffic accident. In the serial roentgenograms, Authors had obtained the result as follows; 1. Giant cell Reparative Granuloma occurred below the 20 years of age, and occurred in mandible of female. 2. In roentgenograms, it figures the radiolucent lesion with multilocular apperance. 3. The growing process of Giant cell Reparative Granuloma is not by the neoplastic reaction, but by the local reparative reaction.

  • The authors have observed a rare case of neurofibroma in 13 years old male who came to the Infirmary of Dental College of Seoul National University because of painless severe swelling of approximately 11 years' duration in the left maxillofacial region and blindness of the left eye about 3 years' duration. As a result of interpretating the serial roentgenograms including tomograms and microscopic findings, we have obtained the following conclusions; 1. Neurofibroma of the patient occurred in about 2 years of age. 2. The familial tendency of the disease has been noted. 3. The growth pattern of the disease was slow, and roentgenographic images revealed severe destruction of bone with irregular borders. 4. The neurofibroma was encapsulated but Verocay body and palisading effect of cells were not seen in the microscopic picture.

  • This study was undertaken in order to get biomorphometric significance of oral candidiasis as a diagnostic method. Specimen was collected from 23 oral candidiasis outpatients(10 male and 13 female) of dental infirmary of U.C.L.A. Health Center from Sept. 1,1981 to Aug. 1,1982. The results were as follows : 1. The male-female ratio on oral candidiasis was 5/6.5. 2. The mean age of male was 42.8 and the mean age of female was 60.1. 3. The nucleocytoplasmic ratio of outmost epithelial cell layer was 0.60 ane (the nuclecytoplasmic ratio of)basal cell layer was 0.87. The difference was significant.
