A Study on Improvement Measures for Mariner's Education and Training with Changes of International Maritime Environment (해운환경 변화에 따른 해기사 교육의 개선책)

  • As the education of maritime college has a characteristics of seafaring professional institutions, the potential benefit following from the employment of seafarers would put substantial impact on it. The socio-economic position of seafaring occupations has been deteriorated considerably with changes of ship's auto-mation, specialisation and low cost operation management of shipping companies through severe internatio-nal competitions. The quality and number of applicants for the maritime college has declined and most students have no hopes for the study of seafaring subjects which followed bewildering in their college days. However, the demands for seafarers are fairly large from the viewpoint of national maritime industry. The maritime institutions should not only meet these demands but also revitalise students by reforming the educational contents. The contents should be influenced by the social approach to educational needs in particular maritime shore-oriented subjects. The maritime education is no more restricted to the sea, it covers the land based world of the maritime industry as well. The new contents will lead the maritime educated students to the shore-based occupa-tions after finishing their seafaring if they want to. This may not only make ways to the maritime educa-tion fruitable, but also the students have a zeal and hope for the subjects taught.

  • Purpose To meet changing social demands and fulfill the needs of the information and communications technology industry, the curriculum of MIS related department should develop and implement new conceptual frameworks. In response, the purpose of this study was to develop curriculum for students in the Department of e-Business at Kyungnam University. Design/methodology/approach We conducted a demands analysis of educational demanders, NCS(National Competency Standards) based curricular analysis, and benchmarking from other management information systems related departments. The expert panel committee consisting of e-Business department faculty members was held to examine and discuss the student-oriented curriculum developed during this study. Findings Results show that the contents and types of curriculum should be organized so that students can maximize their professional job competency to apply to their core professional tasks. Given these findings, we reconstructed the curriculum with both basic and advanced courses, all systematically organized according to the job requirements they offer toward meeting the industry's needs. We also implemented the web-based JSSS(Job Searching Support System) with which educational demanders can search among 13 job types, estimate their performances, and obtain the information about course registration. In all this study presents specific, practical evidence of the job-related curriculum for students in the Department of e-Business at Kyungnam University.

Development of a Curriculum of Department of AI Operation based on Industrial Demands -Focusing on the Case of C University (산업체 수요를 반영한 AI 운영학과 교육과정 개발 -C 대학 사례를 중심으로)

  • In recent years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology and an explosion of interest in it, education on artificial intelligence is spreading to various fields. As a result, many universities are establishing artificial intelligence-related departments or expanding their quota. In line with this trend, University C has newly established the AI operation department in line with the industrial base in the region. In this paper, a curriculum was developed for the newly established AI operation department, and this curriculum was designed and developed focusing on subjects reflecting the demands of industries based on AIOps (Artificial intelligence for IT Operations). To this end, a consultative body was formed with industry experts, and opinions were collected through a survey.

Characteristics of Fashion Contents of Domestic Male Fashion YouTubers (국내 남성 패션 유튜버 및 패션 콘텐츠 특성 연구)

  • This study analyzed characteristics of domestic male fashion YouTubers and fashion contents in accordance with the need to analyze various content demands and testes of male consumers in the fashion industry. Using literature research and fashion expert evaluation, characteristic factors of fashion YouTubers were derived and the popular content of fashion YouTubers was classified by subject to analyze contents according to characteristics of YouTubers. Based on literature research, ten representative male fashion YouTubers were evaluated by fashion experts. Characteristics of male fashion contents in Korea were derived from attractiveness-friendliness, friendliness, professionalism-friendliness, and expertise. Contents of male fashion YouTubers were mainly composed of styling contents that could feed back daily looks, fashion-related information contents, and Vlogs. They mainly dealt with daily fashion coordination evaluation made by YouTubers. Based on the proportion of fashion information easily accessed by ordinary men through single fashion item's recommendations, shopping know-how or styling tip was mainly dealt with. This study was significant in that it analyzed characteristics and contents of male fashion YouTubers according to the need to analyze various content demands and tastes of male consumers who have recently emerged as an important consumer group in the fashion industry.

Estimation of Freight Trip Generation Rates based on Commodity Flow Survey in Korea

  • In Korea, almost 700 industrial parks are under operation. Generally, industrial parks consist of national industrial parks and local industrial parks which are managed by a central government and by local governments respectively. The developing countries such as Korea, China and Vietnam etc. have constructed many industrial parks, which result in the change of land use pattern and also affect future trip demands. Therefore, in estimating traffic demands, it is very important to consider the industrial park development. This study aims to improve the methodology in estimating a freight trip generation rate with the data based on a nationwide commodity freight survey. The result showed that it is desirable to apply freight trip generation rate by the industry sector in estimating freight trip generations and using the production area of firm as an indicator. Specially, the reliability of the rates through a survey could be made sure because a sample rate based on firms in industrial parks was over 25% and the response rate was over 67%. The sample rate and response rate are very superior as compared to surveys conducted in many other countries. Because industrial parks have significant effects on forecasting transportation demand in pre-feasibility studies of transport and logistics projects, it is expected that the accuracy of freight trip demands would be improved through the results of this study.

  • New cities and industrial complexes are being developed actively according to the government's policy. To determine the size of investment, number of power lines and substations for stable power supply to newly developed industrial complexes, the accurate estimation of power demand is necessary. "The standards for the estimation of power demands in newly developed residential and industrial complexes" established by KEPCO in 1991 have been used up to now. But the background for the estimation of power demands is weak and the accuracy has not been verified. Also, it has been passed above 10 years since their establishment and the social & economic situations have changed a lot, which requires an urgent revision. Through this survey and analysis of existing areas, new standards that will enable more accurate estimation of power demands in new cities and industrial complexes to be developed in the future are established by calculating the some kinds of power demand factors.

  • Customer is the base factor of income for some corporations, so that effective CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is very important to develop the business. In order to use CRM efficiently, we should figure out customers' demands and provide services or products that the customers want. However, it is getting difficult to comprehend customers' demands because they have complicated form and getting more diverse. Recently, social media like Twitter and Facebook let customers to express their demands, and using big data is a very effective method for efficient CRM. This research suggests how to utilize big data for hotel CRM, which considers customer itself as asset of business. In addition, we discuss security problems of big data service and propose the solution for that.

  • With ever-change and increasingly competitive business environments, firms strive to employ a variety of marketing strategies and execution in order to survive in the market. Such effects would be paid off in the right way only when management of the firms perform marketing activities focusing on long term effectiveness, which would drive company profits up and keep them for long. Demands of customers are being changed and varied. And in this circumstance, it become a main issue of management that the company should produce and sell products according to the customer demands. With these trends, each company has been concentrating effects on generalization of product development technique and distinction of service for customer. In this result with the advantage of mass marketing and database marketing have been drawing attentions from company. Also the internet connected around the world completely diminished the limit of time and distance and company have enveloped keen competition out of each nation and continent in the world market. To fulfill these demands of customer, they need a concept of eCRM(Web based Customer Relationship Management), and go from selling products and services, or gathering customer requests, up to the phase of solving customer's problem by real time or previous action. With the help of internet, the frequency and speed of the problem solving has improved greatly.

  • It is necessary to make efforts to resolve complaints such as the mismatch of the labor market and the re-education costs for the new employees by acting as the higher vocational education center of the university. This course introduces the case of developing a practical curriculum based on the competency units presented in the curriculum of the application system that meets the demands of the human resources development and the industrial field demands of the machinery area corresponding to the demand of the industrial society. By analyzing the job duties of industry, it is necessary to develop the new curriculum after grasping the level of demand according to the area, and the importance of the ability to equip as a professional technical manpower and to create high performance is increased. It will help to improve the employment rate of students through the development of field-oriented curriculum.

  • As the competition among college graduates in the job market keeps getting intense, the educators' role of preparing students to get well adapted to the job environments should be more emphasized. However, in reality, many firms admit that many entry-level employees out of college need to be reeducated in a variety of areas. To resolve this problem, the current paper aims to propose some suggestions for a better school curriculum that reflects the needs and demands of the industry. The present proposal is based on my empirical knowledge from the department of computer science of the college where I am teaching and can be applied to other colleges. The suggestions for restructuring of a curriculum are expected to help students actively deal with the trend of developing technology. This restructured curriculum should help colleges produce workers with a good balance of academy and industry who can be assigned to work without being reeducated in the field.
