  • Nowadays meteorological information is systemized as a useful knowledge which has a significant effect on the overall industrial domains over the simple data. The distribution industry, which has the short life cycle, depends on the meteorological information at the strategic level. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the continuous investment in meteorological information because there is a hostility to paying for a service, particularly it does not provide accurate and reliable information. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to increase the usefulness of meteorological information in the distribution industry for its economic effectiveness from the core meteorological factors. We found significant meteorological factors (temperature, precipitation, disaster) that have a critical influence on the distribution industry through the hierarchical analysis process, and their importance according to the type of distribution channels, such as department store, large-scale discount store, convenience store, and home shopping. We performed the AHP analysis with 103 survey samples by middle managers from the various distribution channels. We found that precipitation is the critical meteorological factor across the distribution industry. Based on this result, we stress the difference in the level of the meteorological information in order for the effectiveness of each type of distribution channels.

  • Until now, we recognize that water supply is a public sector rather than business sector in Korea. In spite of the general recognition, water supply sector has an important role within the national economy as an industry. This study try to analyze the current status of water supply sector as a industry with input-output analysis. As we expected, water supply sector is still minor as an industry sector. However, this is not because water supply sector is not important as a industry, but because the price of water too low or free. With regard to the water price impacts, our results show that the 10% increasing water price has only increased 0.01% of the general price level, which is neglectable. To have a competitiveness as a industry, water sector should be reevaluated based on its socioeconomic value. Government policy for water supply sector should achieve two purposes; the one is for as a public service, the other is for the setting new paradigm as an industry.

  • Translational research (TR) as high quality research can accelerate collaboration strongly between biotechnology-based researchers and clinical-research experts for overcoming diseases. TR facilitates basic science translated to clinical efficacy and effectiveness from bench (basic science) to bedside (clinical practice) for the enhancement of human health. Disease-oriented TR programs were defined as unilateral, bilateral and multilateral TR in this patent performance analysis. Patent performance was measured in a R&D project on Health and Medical Technology to enhance the productivity of R&D investment on disease-oriented TR in Health Technology (HT). Patent Map (PM) analysis and Bibliometrics were conducted to collect information for the assessment of research patents of TR programs. Futhermore, PIAS (Patent Information Analysis System) and Thinklear programs were applied for quantitative and qualitative analysis successfully. These indicate that multi-dimensional analysis of patent performance for disease-oriented TR could promote the connection of R&D-IP (Research and Development-Intellectural Property) and R&BD (Research and Business Development) supporting system significantly.

  • The purpose of this study is to revitalize ESG tourism in Bhutan by comparing and analyzing the ESG tourism status in Bhutan and the ESG tourism status in Korea. Big data analysis using text mining was performed by selecting "Bhutan ESG Tourism" and "Korea ESG Tourism" as keywords. The top 30 keywords were extracted through word purification, and based on this, data visualization was conducted through network analysis and Concor analysis between each keyword. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that Bhutan, unlike Korea, did not utilize it even though it had elements to incorporate ESG and the tourism industry into the country itself. As a result, since it is necessary to combine ESG elements owned by Bhutan and combine them with the tourism industry, we would like to suggest the direction of combining ESG and the tourism industry through this study.

  • The development of digital technology is changing the paradigm of the healthcare industry to preventive and consumer-oriented. The combination of the ICT industry and the bio-healthcare industry is emerging as a core industry in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Korean government has also selected the bio-healthcare industry as one of the three key future development industries. In May, the government announced its bio-health industry innovation strategy and set a goal of 300,000 employees. Therefore, analyzing the effects of employment on the related industries of the digital bio-healthcare industry is very important for the establishment of future industrial and technology development policies. The research method restructures the integrated classification of 32 industries into 34, including the digital bio-healthcare industry, using the classification criteria of the government and professional institutions, and then reorganizes the digital bio-healthcare industry into eight industries classified as one industry group. The analysis data was taken from the Bank of Korea's 2019 data. Various trigger coefficients and ripple effects coefficients were rewritten using the analysis method of the Input-output Statistics. The analysis of the results compares the employment-induced effects of the digital bio-healthcare industry and the ripple effects of related industries in production, investment and value-added. In addition, in terms of investment effect, the effects of in-house and related industries were compared. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used to establish employment and industrial policies.

  • Maritime industry is recognized as a new value-adding and growth engine industry. It provides high value by creating clusters centering on ports. Advanced international ports are also clashing ahead to create clusters, boost profits, and strengthen competitiveness. The Korean government enacted policies for the establishment and upbringing of maritime industrial clusters in 2015. It is very important to understand which maritime industry has a comparative advantage in each region and to establish an integration strategy through maritime industrial clusters. This study analyzes the structure of the maritime industry in the Chungnam province, which is expected to deal with raw materials(mainly oil products), container throughput, and opening of ferry route with China's port. The study analyzed the existing literature on the maritime industry and classified the industry into 5 major categories, 21 sub-categories, and 84 sub-categories in shipping and logistics, shipbuilding, fishery, marine tourism industry, and other industries. Based on the reclassified maritime industry, the structure of the maritime industry in the Chungnam province was analyzed by using location quotient(LQ) and Shift-Share analysis. The study found that the fisheries industry showed the highest value(1.718) in the analysis of LQ, followed by the marine tourism industry(1.092), shipbuilding industry(0.823) and shipping and logistics industry(0.789). The total effect of the maritime industry in Chungnam province was 36,315 and the net growth effect, excluding the national growth effect, was estimated to be 21,321. Based on these results, we classify the maritime industry in the Chungnam province as comparative advantage and comparative disadvantage. • In this paper, the structural characteristics of Industry-University cooperation networks are analyzed using network analysis. Recent studies have shown that technological cooperation and joint research has a positive effect on R&D performance. In order to boost innovation performance, various types of cooperative activities and governmental policy supports for major R&D stakeholders(i.e. universities, laboratories, etc.) are provided. However, despite these efforts, the outcome is still insufficient, so it is time to prepare for a plan to build an innovative network to strengthen university-centered Industry-University cooperation activities. Specifically, this study builds the networks according to the form of Industry-University cooperations(i.e. patent, paper, joint research, and technology transfer), and different types of Industry-University cooperation networks are analyzed from a statistical viewpoint by using QAP correlation and regression analyses. The analysis results show that joint research network is closely related to paper network, and is related to other Industry-University cooperation networks. This study is expected to shed a light on supporting innovation activities such as establishing Industry-University cooperation strategies and discovering cooperative partners necessary for creating new growth engines for universities.
