국내 산업공학 공동연구 네트워크 분석 (Analyzing the Domestic Collaborative Research Network in Industrial Engineering)

  • This paper aims to construct and analyze the domestic collaborative research network in industrial engineering. Using co-authorship information contained in the papers published in the two journals of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers, the collaborate research network at the institutional level is constructed. The core institutions in the network are identified by means of the centrality indexes of social network analysis. In addition, the five types of roles of the institutions in industry-university-institute cooperation are examined through brokerage analysis: coordinator, consultant, gatekeeper, representative, and liaisons. The findings are expected to be fruitfully utilized in formulation of R&D strategy of relevant organizations and technology policy making for promoting collaborative research in industrial engineering.

Phase Switching Mechanism for WiFi-based Long Distance Networks in Industrial Real-Time Applications

  • High-quality industrial control is critical to ensuring production quality, reducing production costs, improving management levels and stabilizing equipment and long-term operations. WiFi-based Long Distance (WiLD) networks have been used as remote industrial control networks. Real-time performance is essential to industrial control. However, the original mechanism of WiLD networks does not minimize end-to-end delay and restricts improvement of real-time performance. In this paper, we propose two algorithms to obtain the transmitting/receiving phase cycle length for each node such that real time constraints can be satisfied and phase switching overhead can be minimized. The first algorithm is based on the branch and bound method, which identifies an optimal solution. The second is a fast heuristic algorithm. The experimental results show that the execution time of the algorithm based on branch and bound is less than that of the heuristic algorithm when the network is complex and that the performance of the heuristic algorithm is close to the optimal solution.

  • This paper focus on a method to use Ethernet Network for Industrial Communication Network. Ethernet use the CSMA/CD MAC(Medium Access Control) Protocol at the Data-Link Layer, Which isn't suit for Industrial Communication Network requiring Real-Time Communication, periodic data processing, critical data processing characteristics. In this paper we proposed the Virtual Polling Algorithm at the Application Layer will be solution of using the Ethernet Network for the Industrial Communication Network, Proposed Algorithm terminate the Collision in the network thus Delay Time is reduced and Real-Time Communication will be implemented.

워터핀치기술을 이용한 생태산업단지 내 기업간 용수 재이용망 최적화 (Optimization of Water-Reusing Network among the Industries in an Eco-Industrial Park Complex Using Water Pinch Technology)

  • An water-reuse network design has drawn attention as a systematic method of reducing fresh water usage and increasing water-using efficiency. The final goal of an eco-industrial park(EIP) is accomplishing industrial sustainability and constructing water-reuse network can be a solution. When designing water-reuse network connecting various processes which consume water, the water pinch technology can be used frequently, since it simultaneously minimize freshwater usage and wastewater discharge. In this research water pinch technology is applied to develop an effective water-reuse network in an EIP. Three scenarios based on different reusing strategies were developed. The results show that the final water-reuse network can reduce the total fresh water usage more than 30%, while the water expenses decrease by 20%. It can be concluded that water pinch technology is an effective tool to optimize water-reuse network among different industrial facilities.

융합 학문으로서의 산업공학 : 학술지 인용 네트워크 분석을 활용한 산업공학의 학문적 융합 구조 탐색 (Industrial Engineering as a Multidisciplinary Field : Exploring the Structure of Academic Convergence in Industrial Engineering by Journal Citation Network Analysis)

  • One of the distinctive characteristics of industrial engineering (IE) is its multidisciplinarity. This paper explores the multidisciplinary nature of IE using journal citation network analysis. Using the relatedness indexes of IE journals obtained from journal citation report (JCR), we firstly construct the IE network only composed of 26 IE journals. The resulting IE network is partitioned into three sub-networks: management engineering, manufacturing/quality, and ergonomics. We then propose the IE convergence network which includes 81 related journals in other disciplines as well as 26 IE journals. Scrutinizing the IE convergence network reveals that IE has a high degree of interactions with seven disciplines : Operations Research and Management Science, Statistics and Probability, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Design, Business Management, Human Factors and Ergonomics. We investigate the contributions of the related disciplines to IE as well as contributions of IE to the related disciplines. The role of IE journals in exchanging knowledge with related disciplines is also identified by brokerage analysis. It is shown that visualizing and analyzing the IE convergence network can provide an excellent overview of the multidisciplinary structure of IE, which can help IE researchers easily grasp the state-of-the art of IE research.

  • Owing to various restrictions in-field application, the low-speed, low-power-based industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) network built in extremely harsh industrial environment sites requires multi-hop, channel hopping, and low-latency transmission characteristics. In the past, wired networks were used in industrial facilities; however, network technologies based on the Industrial IoT Network standard standardized for industrial applications, such as WirelessIO link, WirelessHART, SmartMesh, and eStar Link satisfy industrial requirements. Recently, the use of industrial IoT networks in industrial facilities has rapidly expanded. This paper covers the developments in industrial IoT network technologies and summarizes the major industrial IoT standard technologies that meets the requirements of industrial sites.

Network 분석과 신경망을 이용한 Cellular 생산시스템 설계 (Network Analysis and Neural Network Approach for the Cellular Manufacturing System Design)

  • This article presents a network flow analysis to form flexible machine cells with minimum intercellular part moves and a neural network model to form part families. The operational sequences and production quantity of the part, and the number of cells and the cell size are taken into considerations for a 0-1 quadratic programming formulation and a network flow based solution procedure is developed. After designing the machine cells, a neural network approach for the integration of part families and the automatic assignment of new parts to the existing cells is proposed. A multi-layer backpropagation network with one hidden layer is used. Experimental results with varying number of neurons in hidden layer to evaluate the role of hidden neurons in the network learning performance are also presented. The comprehensive methodology developed in this article is appropriate for solving large-scale industrial applications without building the knowledge-based expert rule for the cellular manufacturing environment.

신경회로망 기반 우리나라 산업안전시스템의 모델링 (Neural Network-based Modeling of Industrial Safety System in Korea)

  • It is extremely important to design safety-guaranteed industrial processes because such process determine the ultimate outcomes of industrial activities, including worker safety. Application of artificial intelligence (AI) in industrial safety involves modeling industrial safety systems by using vast amounts of safety-related data, accident prediction, and accident prevention based on predictions. As a preliminary step toward realizing AI-based industrial safety in Korea, this study discusses neural network-based modeling of industrial safety systems. The input variables that are the most discriminatory relative to the output variables of industrial safety processes are selected using two information-theoretic measures, namely entropy and cross entropy. Normalized frequency and severity of industrial accidents are selected as the output variables. Our simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed neural network model and, therefore, the feasibility of extending the model to include more input and output variables.

  • 이 논문은 환(環)을 형성하는 부분네트웍들로 이루어진 sparse network의 특수한 형태에서 최단거리 결정을 위한 효율적인 앨고리즘을 제안한다. 제시된 앨고리즘은 소위 비환(非換) 형태의 sparse network에 대한 최단거리 결정 앨고리즘의 확장이라 할 수 있다. 도우넛 형태를 갖는 sparse network에 대해 최단거리 결정을 위한 접근법으로 하나는 정점제거 방법이고, 다른 하나는 선분제거 방법이다. 여기서 제안된 앨고리즘은 일반적인 n-degree circular sparse network으로 확대될 수 있다.
