This study is a descriptive research to examine the effects of meta-cognition and resilience on clinical reasoning ability of nursing students who have completed the simulation education integrated with problem based learning. The study subjects were senior nursing students who had experienced SIM-PBL education, and data was collected by using a structured questionnaire from September to December 2021. The collected data was analyzed employing descriptive statistics, correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS program. The results demonstrated that meta-cognition and resilience had a significant positive correlation with clinical reasoning ability. The chief factors influencing on the clinical reasoning ability of nursing students were as follows: confidence in participating in the SIM-PBL education, meta-cognition, and resilience. In addition, the three factors explained the clinical reasoning ability at a high level of 75%. The clinical reasoning ability of nursing students may be cultivated by applying internal reinforcers of self-confidence, meta-cognition, and resilience into a SIM-PBL simulation.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of social support and Grit on academic self-efficacy among nursing students. Data were collected from October to November 2022 from nursing students in five nursing departments located in City D. A total of 167 subjects participated in the study. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN statistics program 26.0. As a result, social support(r=0.379, p<.001) and Grit(r=0.532, p<.001) were correlated with academic self-efficacy, and grit was identified as a factor affecting academic self-efficacy(Adju-R2=.277, p<.001). The research purpose outlined emphasizes the growing need for systematic and professional disaster education for nurses and nursing students, driven by the increasing occurrence of natural and large-scale social disasters. The study, a systematic literature review, analyzed the effects of educational interventions in disaster education targeting this demographic. The research method involved a literature search in major Korean databases using keywords related to disaster, education programs, and simulations. The findings highlighted that most programs utilized a combination of theoretical lectures, simulations, and debriefing methods, with intervention times ranging from less than 2 hours to between 40 and 56 hours. The primary outcomes measured were disaster nursing preparedness and performance abilities, with the programs showing positive effects on variables such as disaster nursing readiness, performance ability, attitude, knowledge, awareness, learning self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, and confidence in disaster nursing. The study suggests the importance of designing programs that offer participants realistic learning experiences through diverse intervention times and methods and emphasizes the need to verify the effectiveness of these programs.
This study is a one-group pre-post experimental design that investigates the effects of a practice-based learning program with multiple components on the clinical competence of nursing students, and clinical decision-making. From May 4 to 29, 2020, a total of 60 third-year nursing students with no clinical practice experience were divided into two teams and participated in multi-component practice-based education for two weeks each, and the data of the final 51 students were included in the analysis. Following the practicum, there was a significant increase in clinical competence (t=-4.74, p<.001) and self-confidence in clinical decision-making (t=-8.41, p<.001), and a decrease in anxiety related to clinical decision-making (t=2.54, p=.014). The findings suggest that a multi-component, practice-based learning approach for nursing students can enhance their clinical competence, reduce preclincal anxiety and increase confidence in clinical decision-making in patient care.
The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning on awareness of sexual minorities among nursing college students in graduation year. The participants were eight students attending three nursing colleges in Provinces C and K. Data were collected from November 2023 to January 2024. through in-depth interview until data saturation. The collected data were analyzed by applying Colaizzi's phenomenological research method. In this study, four categories and eight theme clusters were generated. The four categories consisted of 'Ambivalence towards sexual minorities', 'Empathy for the sexual minorities' difficult situation', 'Fear of caring for sexual minorities', and 'Preparation for the future as a nurse'. These results will contribute to the qualitative improvement of nursing education by providing the grounds for the effective educational strategy development which improve nursing students' awareness and care of sexual minorities. In-depth studies on various factors affecting awareness of sexual minorities in nursing students and problems are required.
The study attempted to examine the effects of hybrid simulation practice program on critical thinking disposition, self-efficacy, communication competency, and clinical competency of nursing students. The study was one group pre-test and post-test design. Data were collected between April 24 to May 5, 2023 from 35 nursing students. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program, frequency analysis, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test. Research results showed that nursing students' critical thinking disposition(t=7.01, p<.001), self-efficacy(t=2.17, p=.037), communication competency(t=2.70, p=.011), and clinical competency(t=6.60, p<.001) were improved after the simulation program. The hybrid simulation practice program is significant in that it applies various learning tools, including high-fidelity-low-fidelity-role play to strengthen the connection between nursing students' theory and practice.

Establishing nursing professionalism is important for providing quality nursing care in various clinical settings and adapting to changing roles in a range of situations. The aim of this study was to identify the influence of volunteer activities and sense of community on nursing professionalism for nursing students. A convenience sampling method of 160 students in a nursing department of university in D city was used in June 2019. Data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows. The nursing professionalism score was above the middle level and differed according to the volunteer motivation and activity continuity significantly. Satisfaction with volunteer activities had a significant positive correlation with a sense of community (r=.47, p<.001), and nursing professionalism had a significant positive correlation with the satisfaction with volunteer activities (r=.51, p<.001). The factors affecting nursing professionalism were a sense of community (p<.001) and satisfaction with volunteer activities (p<.001); this model could explain 37.9% (F=20.38, p<.001). Therefore, nursing students are encouraged to participate voluntarily in a range of activities linked to their field, nurture a sense of community, and develop nursing education programs that help build pride as a nurse and establish nursing professionalism.
