  • In B2B e-Marketplace for free gifts and goods, product-mix recommendation is provided frequently by analysing customer logs and/or performing collaborative and rules-based filtering. This study proposes a new process that encompasses the genetic algorithm and key working processes of B2B e-marketplace based on the previous cooperate client order data. Efficiency and accuracy of the proposed system have been confirmed by cross-confirmation of accumulated data in the e-marketplace. The system can provide better opportunities for manufactures and suppliers to select optimized product-mix without time consuming trials and errors in their B2B e-marketplace networks.

  • PL(product liability) is a major social, market, and economic force. The legal obligation of manufacturers and sellers to compensate for injury or damage caused by defective products is not a recent phenomenon. The concept of Product liability has been in existence for many years, but its emphasis has changed recently. This PL prevention program has shown that the two area of product quality assurance one is a PLD(product liability defense) and the other is a PLP(product liability prevention.

  • Mass customization meets various needs of customers as well as produces various products and service in low cost like mass production. However, low cost and product diversity have conflicting concepts. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, we need standardization methods. In this paper, we suggest a method for determining the product platform which is a set of common parts in a product family. To achieve the method, we used the Contradiction Analysis of TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), Using this approach, we found a model that obtains various products within limited resources and conditions. Also, we suggest another method that increases the flexibility of our method by Design Structure Matrix.

  • Today's hightech society requires thousands of different products which ultimately result in billions of tons of materials discarded, most of which end up in landfills. Therefore industrial circles could not help thinking about environmental problems by regulations of government or pressures of consumer. Generally, the related research subjects are classified into both of environmentally conscious manufacturing and product recovery, where product recovery aims to minimize the amount of waste sent to landfills by recovering materials and parts from old or outdated products by means of recycling and remanufacturing (including reuse of parts and products). In this research, we constructed a model for remanufacturing various goods using a single facility and developed a dynamic programing(DP) algorithm based upon the optimal solution characterization. We showed the efficiency of the developed DP algorithm with a numerical example.

망외부성이 존재하는 상품에 대한 독점 기업의 수직차별화 전략 분석 (Analysis of Vertical Differentiation Strategy of a Monopolistic Company under Network Externality)

  • The proliferation of information technologies made it possible to produce information products of different versions at much lower cost comparing to traditional physical products. Thus it is common for information product manufacturers to consider vertically differentiated product line for more profit through improved market coverage. Another salient characteristic of most information product is network externality. Existing researches dealing with vertical differentiation and network externality usually assumed oligopolistic market where vertically differentiated products are provided by competing companies, respectively. Moreover, they analyzed the essentially dynamic characteristic of network externality statically. In this study, different from the previous researches, the vertical differentiation strategy of a monopolistic company under network externality is dynamically analyzed. We used a two-period model to accommodate the dynamic feature of network externality. Based on the two-period model, the profit maximizing solutions are analyzed. The results showed that a monopolistic company has no incentive to differentiate products vertically when the network externality is absent. On the contrary, when the network externality exists, the monopolistic company can derive more profit by vertically differentiating the product line. It is also shown that, for more profit, the monopolistic company should keep the quality difference between the high quality product and the low quality product as greater as possible.

제품자료 객체를 이용한 설계자 네트워크 분석 (Analysis of Networks among Design Engineers Using Product Data Objects)

  • This study proposes a methodology to analyse social networks among participating design engineers during product development projects. The proposed methodology enables product development managers or the participating design engineers to make a proper decision on product development considering the performance of participating design engineers. It considers a product development environment where an integrated product data management (PDM) system manages the product development data and associated product development processes consistently in its database, and all the design engineers share the product development data in the PDM database for their activities in the product development project. It provides a novel approach to build social networks among design engineers from an operational product development data in the PDM database without surveys or monitoring participating engineers. It automatically generates social networks among the design engineers from the product data and relationships specified by the participants during the design activities. It allows analysts to gather operational data for their analysis without additional efforts for understanding complex and unstructured product development processes. This study also provides a set of measures to evaluate the social networks. It will show the role and efficiency of each design engineers in the social network. To show the feasibility of the approach, it suggests an architecture of social network analysis (SNA) system and implemented it with a research-purpose PDM system and R, a statistical software system. A product configuration management process with synthetical example data is applied to the SNA system and it shows that the approach enables analysts to evaluate current position of design engineers in their social networks.

Priority Assignment Procedure in Multi-Product Disassembly

  • This paper investigates the design of a priority rule in a multi-product disassembly environment. Specifically, it is concerned with product scheduling by which the inventory control of disassembled parts can be incorporated into a priority rule to reduce part lead times. The part lead time consists of two components: flow time and supply delay. The primary focus of the paper is on the development of a disassembly priority rule that aims to reduce the supply delay. We propose a priority rule, called Minimum Distance (MD) rule, to improve the supply delay performance. Finally, we provide a comparative analysis on the performance of traditional rules and the new rule proposed in this paper via a simulation model.

특허경영활동이 기업 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 국내 의료기기 제조 기업을 중심으로 (A Study on the Effect of Patent Management Activities on Firm Outcome : The Case of Korean Product Manufacturing Firms)

  • Patent management activities are considered to play a key role for technology-based firms under the recent knowledge-based economies. This is because intellectual property, including patents, can act as a system for continuous profit generation by protecting firms' products, processes and services. In Korea, healthcare industry is now regarded as one of the promising next generation industries. Despite the promise of healthcare industry, Korean healthcare product manufacturers are faced with turbulent business changes, such as market opening. Even though there are various industrial studies on the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome, previous studies have hardly paid attention to Korean healthcare product manufacturing firms. For this reason, this study identifies the effect of patent management activities, such as patenting activeness, technical excellence and cooperation degree, on firm outcomes, including financial profitability and firm growth, with respect to the Korean healthcare product manufacturers. In this study, we located 86 Korean healthcare manufacturing firms from KORCHAMBIZ and DART, and then collected the data of their patenting activities and outcomes between 2001 and 2013. By applying factor analysis and regression analysis, our empirical study found that firms' patenting activeness has the significant positive relationship on firms' financial profitability, and firms' patenting activeness and technical excellence have the significant positive relationship on firms' financial growth. Our study is an initial attempt to identify the effect of patent management activities on firm outcome within Korean healthcare product manufacturing industry, and thus its results can be used as the basis to formulate national policies for Korean healthcare product industry.

PEST-SWOT-AHP 분석을 이용한 중소제조기업의 제조물책임 대응전략 수립 (Developing Product Liability Response Strategies of SMEs using PEST-SWOT-AHP analysis)

  • Product liability (PL), which began enforcement in 2002, refers to the legal responsibility of the manufacturers or sellers (wholesales or retailers) for the property damage or bodily harm caused by their product. With a strong enforcement of the Product Liability (PL) Act, companies are required to structure and operate a response system to defend or prevent product accidents efficiently, but small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are unable to respond more aggressively due to limitation of management resources. In this manner, it is important to develop response strategies for SMEs to efficiently cope with the PL Act. In this paper, the PEST (Political, Economic, Social, and Technological) analysis is performed to reveal the impact of the PL Act on SMEs in macro-economic point of view. To formulate SME's PL response strategy, SWOT analysis is performed to categorize each factors from PEST analysis and AHP is applied to identify the intensities of SWOT factors. The prioritized SWOT factor, results of PEST-SWOT-AHP analysis, are used to formulate SME's PL response strategies. The study results are briefly summarized as follows. To reduce product defects, it is necessary for SMEs to formulate PL response strategies for each phase of the product life cycle by continuously collecting and analyzing PL cases in the same industry or for similar products. In addition, SMEs should invest more technological effort to ensure product safety. Further, SMEs should spread PL awareness to all staff members by training internal PL experts. Moreover, a SME should enroll in PL insurance and spread this information to its customers so that they become aware that the company is proactively conforming to the PL law.

Building a Product Design of Innovative Strategy for Creating Enterprise Development

  • Purpose - Nowadays, the innovative design concept is being implemented in product design. In order to satisfy market trends and the demand for quality, designers should employ customer satisfaction questionnaires and analyze them with various experimental processes. Research design, data, and methodology - These methodologies would help designers have a better understanding of their customers and judge the market size and clustering validity, by diverse product strategies, for dealing with the rapid change prevailing in the market today. Results - By considering the innovative design with regard to telephones as an experimental case, the study investigates and demonstrates how the product can benefit from market-oriented and customized management concepts, when creative design ability is utilized for developing the product. Conclusions - Along with the benefit of having an innovative product value, the product can stimulate progress inthe development of the enterprise management, which has emerged as the main issue in the area of social and economic development in every developed country.
