Technique of Common Mode Voltage and Conducted EMI Reduction using Nonzero-vector State in SVPWM Method (SVPWM방식에서의 영벡터 제거에 의한 커먼모드 전압 및 전도성 EMI 저감 기법)

  • With the advent of fast power devices, the high dv/dt voltage produced by PWM inverts have been found to cause EMI noise, shaft voltage and bearing current. This paper describes the application of newly developed Conducted EMI reduction SVPWM technique in induction motor drives. The newly developed common mode voltage reduction SVPWM technique don't use any zero-vector states for inverter control, hence it can restrict the common mode voltage more than conventional PWM technique. The validity of the proposed technique by software approach is verified through simulation and experimental results.

  • RPWM(Random Pulse Width Modulation) is a switching technique to spread the voltage and current harmonics on wide frequency area. Using randomly changed switching frequency of the inverter, the power spectrum of the electromagnetic acoustic noise can be spread into the wide-band area. And the wide-band noise is much more comfortable and less annoying than the narrow-band one. So RPWM have been attracting an interest as an excellent reduction method of acoustic noise on the inverter drive system. In this paper a new RPPWM(Random Position PWM) is proposed and implemented. Each of three pulses is located randomly in each switching intervals. Along with the randomization of PWM pulses, the space vector modulation is processed on the C167 microcontroller also. The experimental results show that the voltage and current harmonics were spread into wide band area and that the audible switching noise was reduced by proposed RPPWM method.

  • This paper proposes a new active common-mode voltage damper circuit that is capable of suppressing a common-mode voltage produced in the PWM VSI-fed induction motor drives. The new active common mode voltage damper is consists of a four-level half-bridge Inverter and a common mode transformer with a blocking capacitor. In order to reduce the common mode voltage and high frequency leakage current the active common mode damper applies to the PWM inverter system the compensated voltage of which the amplitude is the same as the common mode voltage and of which the polarity is opposite to the common mode voltage. Simulated using P-SPICE and experimental results show that common-mode voltage damper makes contributions to reducing a high frequency leakage current and common-mode voltage.
