Around the world, there is an increasing interest in Digital Twin cities. Although geospatial data is critical for building a digital twin city, currently-established spatial data cannot be used directly for its implementation. Integration of geospatial data is vital in order to construct and simulate the virtual space. Existing studies for data integration have focused on data transformation. The conversion method is fundamental and convenient, but the information loss during this process remains a limitation. With this, standardization of the data model is an approach to solve the integration problem while hurdling conversion limitations. However, the standardization within indoor space data models is still insufficient compared to 3D building and city models. Therefore, in this study, we present a comparative analysis of data models commonly used in indoor space modeling as a basis for establishing a generic indoor space feature model. By comparing five models of IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), CityGML (City Geographic Markup Language), AIIM (ArcGIS Indoors Information Model), IMDF (Indoor Mapping Data Format), and OmniClass, we identify essential elements for modeling indoor space and the feature classes commonly included in the models. The proposed generic model can serve as a basis for developing further indoor feature models through specifying minimum required structure and feature classes.

A 3D indoor model becomes an indiscernible component of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information System). However, a huge amount of time and human resources are inevitable for collecting spatial measurements and creating such a 3D indoor model. Also, a varied forms of 3D indoor models exist depending on their purpose of use. Thus, in this study, three different 3D indoor models are defined as 1) omnidirectional images, 2) a 3D realistic model, and 3) 3D indoor as-built model. A series of reconstruction methods is then introduced to construct each type of 3D indoor models: they are an omnidirectional image acquisition method, a hybrid surveying method, and a terrestrial LiDAR-based method. The reconstruction methods are applied to a large and complex atrium, and their 3D modeling results are compared and analyzed.

A report by the national research council in the United States suggested that many lung cancer deaths each year be associated with breathing radon in indoor air. Most of the indoor radon comes directly from soil beneath the basement of foundations. Recently, radon released from groundwater is found to contribute to the total inhalation risk from indoor air. This study presents the quantitative assessment of human exposures to radon released from the groundwater into indoor air. At first, a three-compartment model is developed to describe the transfer and distribution of radon released from groundwater in a house through showering, washing clothes, and flushing toilets. Then, to estimate a daily human exposure through inhalation of such radon for an adult. a physiologically-based pharmacokinetic(PBPK) model is developed. The use of a PBPK model for the inhaled radon could provide useful information regarding the distribution of radon among the organs of the human body. Indoor exposure patterns as input to the PBPK model are a more realistic situation associated with indoor radon pollution generated from a three-compartment model describing volatilization of radon from domestic water into household air. Combining the two models for inhaled radon in indoor air can be used to estimate a quantitative human exposure through the inhalation of indoor radon for adults based on two sets of exposure scenarios. The results obtained from the present study would help increase the quantitative understanding of risk assessment issues associated with the indoor radon released from groundwater.
A fungal spore transportation model that accounts for the concentration of airborne indoor spores and the amount of spores deposited on interior surfaces has been developed by extending the current aerosol model. This model is intended to be used for a building with a mechanical ventilation system, and considers HVAC filter efficiency and ventilation rate. The model also includes a surface-cleaning efficiency and frequency that removes a portion of spores deposited on surfaces. The developed model predicts indoor fungal spore concentration and provides an indoor/outdoor ratio that may increase or decrease mold growth risks in real, in-use building cases. To get a more useful outcome from the model simulation, an uncertainty analysis has been conducted in a real building case. By including uncertainties associated with the parameters in the spore transportation model, the simulation results provide probable ranges of indoor concentration and indoor/outdoor ratio. This paper describes the uncertainty quantification of each parameter that is specific to fungal spores, and uncertainty propagation using an appropriate statistical technique. The outcome of the uncertainty analysis showed an agreement with the results from the field measurement with air sampling in a real building.

The work presents sensitivity and uncertainty analysis of 2-compartment model for the evaluation of indoor radon pollution in a house. Effort on the development of such model is directed towards the prediction of the generation and transfer of radon in indoor air released from groundwater. The model is used to estimate a quantitative daily human exposure through inhalation of such radon based on exposure scenarios. However, prediction from the model has uncertainty propagated from uncertainties in model parameters. In order to assess how model predictions are affected by the uncertainties of model inputs, the study performs a quantitative uncertainty analysis in conjunction with the developed model. An importance analysis is performed to rank input parameters with respect to their contribution to model prediction based on the uncertainty analysis. The results obtained from this study would be used to the evaluation of human risk by inhalation associated with the indoor pollution by radon released from groundwater.
W ith the recent increasing build and application for 3D spatial information, the importance of management and application for spatial information based on indoor space has been increased. Especially, Due to the increasing of the scale and complexity of the building according to the development of construction technologies several studies have been conducted to provide the services based on indoor space such as indoor navigation for disaster. Therefore, to efficient manage and service for information of complicated indoor space, it is necessary to extend and develop 3D spatial model and services that have been developed for outdoor space. In this paper, Indoor Spatial Data Model(ISDM) is developed to support building spatial information for complicated indoor space and location based services through topological information. ISDM contains a feature model which is a CityGML Application Domain Extension(ADE) model and a topology model that refers the IndoorGML.
Interior space in most buildings is divided into several zones. The most important factors relating to the indoor air environment are temperature, airflow, humidity, and contaminant concentration. An integrated multizone model to predict these environmental factors simultaneously was developed. Also, a computer program for this model was written by the language of VISUAL BASIC. The proposed model was applied to a apartment with five rooms that had been tested by Chung. Comparison of predicted results by this study with measured results by Chung showed that their variations were within 14% for airflow rates, 1% for temperatures, 12% for humidities, and 5% for concentrations. It was seen that the opening operation schedule of building has a significant effect on the air moisture md contaminant removal. Thus, this model may be available for predicting the indoor air environment and may be contributed to design the ventilation plan for controling of indoor air quality.

In this paper we present an indoor propagation model for indoor wireless LAN service in the ISM band. We primarily use a 3D ray tracing as well as a patch scattering model in order to take into account the indoor fixtures. Therefore input parameters such as indoor environment parameters and antenna's types, polarizations are considered. As the results, we present fading characteristics and rms delay spread from time delay spread. In order to investigate the accuracy of the presented model, comparisons of predictions with measurement and simulations are performed in indoor wireless LAN service environments. The results show that measurements and simulations are very similar. Therefore in this paper, the effect of presented indoor propagation model is confirmed.
With the rapid progress of location based services, GIS, and ubiquitous computing technologies, the space that we are dealing with is no longer limited to outdoor space but being extended to indoor space. Indoor space has some differences from outdoor space, therefore to provide integrated spaces and seamless services, it is required to establish new theories, data models, and systems. For this reason, ambitious project has been launched last year to establish a theoretical background, develop a core technologies and systems, and provide services of indoor spatial awareness. In this paper, we present an overall sketch on the project and major research topics. First, we present the ISA (indoor spatial awareness) project with its goal and research topics. Second, a simplified 3D spatial model, called prism model, is proposed as a basic data types and operators of indoor spatial DBMS. Third, a indoor feature data model, developed T. Kolbe et al. who is a member of this project team, is introduced in this paper. This model provides a basis for the integration of different spaces.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a top floor, indoor, thermal environment by comparison between the indoor air temperature and the rooftop surface temperature, and between the indoor air temperature and the outdoor air temperature using an experimental model. The model experiment was conducted with 4 cases,: no-rainfall, 1 em-height, 10 em-height and 20em-height of rainfall on the rooftop. According to the results of the height of stored rainfall, the average air temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor air with 1, 10 and 20 em-height of rainfall on the rooftop was $4.0^{\circ}C$, rooftop $1.2^{\circ}C$ and rooftop $1.0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The upper 10 em-height of rainfall on the rooftop acted to decrease the indoor air temperature on the top floor.
