Recently, ultra-wideband (UWB) technology based on the transmission of short duration pulses has gained much interest for its application to wireless communications. UWB small scale channel modeling work, including statistical characterization and potential models, are discussed. The significance, in terms of performance, of the channel impulse response model chosen for the simulation of UWB communications systems is also evaluated. Three traditional models are found to be useful for modeling NLOS UWB channels, but not LOS channels. In this paper, a new model for LOS UWB channels is presented and shown to represent LOS channels much more accurately than the traditional models.

Recently, wireless network has been playing an important role in communication system and the applications have become wider with its big technological leap. In defence sector, there are some attempts to use wireless networks to go beyond the wire system. Especially, most internal space of the warships have the wired communication system, which are complicated and inefficient. In this paper, we measure and make a channel model about the internal parts of the warship which contain compartments and corridors including many differences from general indoor environment for establishing wireless networks in warship's internal space. In the unique environment made of metal, we measure 2.4GHz signals using continuous wave(CW) and analysis the environment to present indoor path-loss model for comparing with results from the ray-tracing tool. Moreover, we draw the conclusion that the environment of warships has a wide difference from conventional environments and put the results to practical use in warship's internal space.
In this paper, the BER performance of IEEE 802.11a OFDM WLAN system is obtained by simulation and it is shown that the proposed modified channel estimation algorithm improves the channel estimation performance of the system. The wireless channel used in channel simulation includes AWGN and delay spread channel implemented by TDL model. At first, the performance of OFDM WLAN system according to data rate and coding rate defined in standard is evaluated in AWGN channel. Then, imperfect channel estimation in indoor wireless channel is considered. After the performance of conventional channel estimation scheme using only two long training symbols is evaluated, and that of proposed modified channel estimation scheme using additional 8 short training symbol is compared with it. From the simulation results, it is shown that modified channel estimation scheme provides reduced channel estimation error and improves the channel estimation performance due to noise averaging effect with the same preamble format as defined in specification.

In this paper, we studied line coding technology tendency for high speed data communication at LED-ID (Identification) communication system in indoor environment. A LED-ID technology is a communication using visible ray (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. The LED-ID system has the above advantages about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. Therefore, the transmission by light waves is more suitable for wireless networks than by radio waves. We compared with the NRZ, AMI, 4B5B, HDB3, 8B10B line coding for efficient in error detection and serves data transmission of high speed.

In this paper, the propagation characteristics for ISM(Industrial Scientific and Medical) and TVWS(TV White Space) in indoor building environment are analyzed in comparison with theoretical and experimental results, the excellent propagation characteristics of the TVWS is confirmed. To this end, signals which have center frequencies of 503 MHz and 2.4 GHz are generated in building propagation environment. Through that, received power strength is measured according to the location and measured path loss is analyzed. Theoretical path loss is calculated using Hata, Extended Hata, Extended Hata SRD, ITU-R P.1238 and reliability for channel model in indoor environment is analyzed.

Diffuse wireless optical communication offers more robust optical links in terms of coverage and shadowing than line-of-sight links. However, traditional diffuse wireless infrared (IR) transceiver systems are more susceptible to multi-path distortion and great power decrease, which results in limiting high-speed performance. Multi-beam is an effective technique to compensate for multi-path distortion in a wireless infrared environment. The goal of this paper is to analyze the transmission characteristics by replacing traditional diffuse system (TDS) which contains single wide angle transmitter and single element receiver by system consisting of three-beam transmitter and non-imaging receiver (TNS) attached with compound parabolic concentrator (CPC). In the simulation, we use the recursive model developed by Barry and Kahn and build the scenario based on 10 different cases which have been listed in Table 1. Moreover, we also check the reliability of the TNS diffuse link channel by BER test on the basis of different receiver positions and room sizes. The simulation results not only show the basic transmission characteristics of TNS diffuse link, but also are references to design more efficient and reliable indoor infrared transmission systems.

An ultrawide band (UWB) signal model is proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrivals of the signals arrived in clusters at an UWB receiver for a short-range, high-speed, indoor wireless communication system in an elliptical scattering environment. And a new estimation technique is proposed by modifying the conventional MUSIC algorithm. By using this estimation technique, the estimates of the two unknown parameter sets, angle-of-arrivals and distribution parameters, are obtained with the proposed UWB signal model. The proposed UWB signal model and estimation technique are verified through computer simulations in an ultrawide band communication environment.

This paper describes a system for location tracking wireless sensor nodes in an indoor environment. The sensor reading used for the location estimation is the received signal strength indication (RSSI) as given by an RF interface. By tagging users with a mobile node and deploying a number of reference nodes at fixed position in the room, the received signal strength indicator can be used to determine the position of tagged users. The system combines Euclidean distance technique with signal strength obtained by measurement driven log-normal path loss model of 2.4 GHz wireless channel. The experimental results demonstrated the ability of this system to estimate the location with a error less than 1.3m.
Path loss plays fundamental roles in system design, spectrum management, and performance evaluation. The traditional path loss model has a slight inconvenience; it depends on the unknown distance. In this letter, we explore the probability distribution function (PDF) of path loss in an indoor office environment by randomizing out the distance variable. It is shown that the resulting PDF is not Gaussian-like but is skewed to the right, and both the PDF and the moments are related to the size of the office instead of the unknown distance. To be specific, we incorporate the IEEE 802.15.4a channel parameters into our model and tabulate the cumulative distribution function with respect to different room sizes. Through a simple example, we show how our model helps a cognitive spectrum user to infer path loss information of primary users without necessarily knowing their transmitter-receiver distance.

In this paper, channel propagation path loss was measured in building corridors for frequency bands of 3.7 GHz and 28 GHz, which are used in 5G mobile communication, and compared and analyzed with CI (Close-In) and FI (Floating-Intercept) channel models. To measure the propagation path loss, the measurement was performed while moving the receiver (Rx) from the transmitter (Tx) by 10 m. As a result of the measurement, the PLE (Path Loss Exponent) values of the CI model at 3.7 GHz and 28 GHz were 1.5293 and 1.7795, respectively, and the standard deviations were analyzed as 9.1606 and 8.5803, respectively. In the FI model, 𝛼 values were 79.5269 and 70.2012, 𝛽 values were -0.6082 and 1.2517, respectively, and the standard deviations were 5.8113 and 4.4810, respectively. In the analysis results through the CI model and the FI model, the standard deviation of the FI model is smaller than that of the CI model, so it can be seen that the FI model is similar to the actual measurement result.
