  • In this paper, we present tracking algorithm for the indoor moving object. We research passive method using a camera and image processing. It had been researched to use dynamic based estimators, such as Kalman Filter, Extended Kalman Filter and Particle Filter for tracking moving object. These algorithm have a good performance on real-time tracking, but they have a limit. If the shape of object is changed or object is located on complex background, they will fail to track them. This problem will need the complicated image processing algorithm. Finally, a large algorithm is made from integration of dynamic based estimator and image processing algorithm. For eliminating this inefficiency problem, image based estimator, Mean-shift Algorithm is suggested. This algorithm is implemented by color histogram. In other words, it decide coordinate of object's center from using probability density of histogram in image. Although shape is changed, this is not disturbed by complex background and can track object. This paper shows the results in real camera system, and decides 3D coordinate using the data from mean-shift algorithm and relationship of real frame and camera frame.

  • This research presents the development of a self-governing mobile robot navigation system for indoor construction applications. This self-governing robot navigation system integrated robot control units, various positioning techniques including a dead-reckoning system, a UWB platform and motion sensors, with a BIM path planner solution. Various algorithms and error correction methods have been tested for all the employed sensors and other components to improve the positioning and navigation capability of the system. The research demonstrated that the path planner utilizing a BIM model as a navigation site map could effectively extract an efficient path for the robot, and could be executed in a real-time application for construction environments. Several navigation strategies with a mobile robot were tested with various combinations of localization sensors including wheel encoders, sonar/infrared/thermal proximity sensors, motion sensors, a digital compass, and UWB. The system successfully demonstrated the ability to plan an efficient path for robot's movement and properly navigate through the planned path to reach the specified destination in a complex indoor construction site. The findings can be adopted to several potential construction or manufacturing applications such as robotic material delivery, inspection, and onsite security.

  • Outdoor sports activities have been restricted by serious air pollution, such as fine dust and yellow dust, and abnormal meteorological change, such as heatwave and heavy snow. These environmental problems have rapidly increased the demand for indoor sports activities. Virtual sports, such as virtual golf, virtual baseball, virtual soccer, etc., allow playing various sports games without going outdoors. Indoor sports industries and markets have seen rapid growth since the advent of virtual sports. Most virtual sports platforms use screen-based virtual reality techniques, which are why they are called screen sports. However, these platforms cannot support various sports games, especially virtual match games, such as squash, boxing, and so on, because existing screen-based virtual reality sports techniques use real balls and players. This article presents screen-based haptic-augmented reality technologies for a new virtual sports platform. The new platform does not use real balls and players to solve the limitations of previous platforms. Here, various technologies, including human motion tracking, human action recognition, haptic feedback, screen-based augmented-reality systems, and augmented-reality sports content, are unified for the new virtual sports platform. From these haptic-augmented reality technologies, the proposed platform supports sports games, including indoor virtual matches, that existing virtual sports platforms cannot support.

  • RFID technology is a technology perceiving information with the device called reader and tag which is now used in public transportation such as Hi-pass. In this paper, we design a system which tracks indoor location using this technology. GPS, the most frequently used location-tracking system, has a defect that its accuracy decreases when the device is indoor. In suggested experiment, we simulate signals according to the moving of located objects, then compare with the result of the experiment. Based on the extracted data, we inform data which is for the purpose of tracking system based on analysis of the route and errors. Simulations for the tracking were performed with relocation of real objects. In the real experiment, we arrange the readers around the room and move the tagged object that we like to know the location, then analyze the data from the equipment. This paper suggests the analyzed data for the future indoor tag tracking applications. We expect that the RFID based location positioning data will be used for other indoor positioning research and development.

  • Location positioning systems are available in applications such as mobile, robotic tracking systems and Wireless location-based service (LBS) applications. The GPS system is the most well-known location tracking system, but it is not easy to use indoors. The method of radio frequency identification (RFID) location tracking was studied in terms of cost-effectiveness for indoor location tracking systems. Most RFID systems use active RFID tags using expendable batteries, but in this paper, an inexpensive indoor location tracking system using passive RFID tags has been developed. A pattern matching method and a system for tracing location by generating regression curves were studied to use precision tracking algorithms. The system was tested by verifying the level of error caused by noise. The three-dimensional curves are produced by the regression equation estimated the statistically meaningful coordinates by the differential equation. The proposed system could also be applied to mobile robot systems, AGVs and mobile phone LBSs.

  • So many location based service systems, including automobile navigation system logistic management, taxi fleet management, and so on, are being used everywhere. However, these are all outdoors. This paper provides a stepping stone for commercial indoor location based services by developing an integrated system of our indoor positioning and map viewer modules. For the indoor positioning, we propose WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) based EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) which estimates user's current location and tracts user's trace in the sequence of time. Our map viewer renders a map recorded in an Autocad DXF file and provides functions of map manipulation such as zoom-in, zoom-out, and move. We integrate our indoor positioning and map viewer modules and discuss the experimental results of the integrated system.

  • Despite the increasing popularity of wireless sensor network, indoor positioning using low power IEEE 802.15.4 compliant radio had attracted an interest of many researchers in the last decade. Old fashionable indoor location sensing information has been presented in dull and unpleasant 2D image standard. This paper focused on visualizing high precision 3 dimensional RSSI-based (received signal strength indication) spatial sensing information in an interactive virtual reality on PDA. The developed system operates by capturing and extracting signal strength information at multiple pre-defined reference nodes to provide information in the area of interest, thus updating user's location in 3D indoor virtual map. VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) which specifically developed for 3D objects modeling is utilized to design 3D indoor environment.

  • In this detailed and comprehensive study, our primary focus has been placed on accurately gauging the number of visitors and their real-time locations in commercial spaces. Particularly, in a real cafe, using security cameras, we have developed a system that can offer live updates on available seating and predict future congestion levels. By employing YOLO, a real-time object detection and tracking algorithm, the number of visitors and their respective locations in real-time are also monitored. This information is then used to update a cafe's indoor map, thereby enabling users to easily identify available seating. Moreover, we developed a model that predicts the congestion of a cafe in real time. The sophisticated model, designed to learn visitor count and movement patterns over diverse time intervals, is based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) to address the vanishing gradient problem and Sequence-to-Sequence (Seq2Seq) for processing data with temporal relationships. This innovative system has the potential to significantly improve cafe management efficiency and customer satisfaction by delivering reliable predictions of cafe congestion to all users. Our groundbreaking research not only demonstrates the effectiveness and utility of indoor location tracking technology implemented through security cameras but also proposes potential applications in other commercial spaces.

  • Recently, the activity area in the indoor space has been widening. Various types of service technologies have been developed and applied user location, tracking, spatial pattern analysis and environmental analysis in indoor space. BLE-based beacon is used for the service technology in the indoor space. Therefore, in this paper, we collected and analyzed signals for indoor positioning based on beacon. For this purpose, a module was designed to analyze the efficiency of indoor location measurement using beacon. Experimental results show that the accuracy of the measured data at close range is improved. Also, it was analyzed that the more accurate the position data is extracted without the obstacle in the indoor space.
