Although not many older Korean parents who take care of children with intellectual disabilities have been reported depression due to care-giving related stresses, little is known about how they could be protected from this. This study examines whether satisfaction with family relationships moderate the relationships between time demands, caregiving stress, and depression of older parents who take care of children with intellectual disabilities. The analyses were conducted based on data from the Korean National Survey on Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and their Families of 2011, and only a total of 276 parents, aged over 60 were examined. Multiple regression analysis shows that older parents with higher level of satisfaction with family relationships were less likely to be influenced by time demands of care-giving. This indicates that satisfaction with family relationships could buffer the relationships between time demands of care-giving, and depression. This finding suggests that satisfaction with family relationships is a protective factor, buffering the negative effects of time demands of care-giving and depression. This supports 'socio-emotional selectivity theory' which family relationships are important to older people. Therefore, it is highly recommended to develop practical intervention that can improve the level of satisfaction of family relationship of the older parents, and to make policy and institutional supplementation.

This study aimed to analyze characteristics and factors affecting of depression by households type of elderly with disabilities. Data were analyzed using chi-square test, logistic regression analyses according to the PSED. Data were 608 individuals. First, The one-person households group showed significantly female, non-capital, severe disorder, lower health status, lower economic level, higher help for daily life, higher experience of discrimination, lower satisfaction with relationship, lower participation in social activities. Second, Factors affecting depression included experience of discrimination, participation in social activities. Multi-person group included gender, occupied area, health status, economic level and one-person group were help for daily life. In order to reduce depression, it is necessary to reduce experience of discrimination, improve awareness of disability, health care, economic supports and so on. This study is meaningful in that it classifies households types. In the future, there is a need to longitudinal studies.

The purpose of this study is to revitalize rehabilitation treatment for people with physical disabilities by presenting a convergence plan between e-sports and rehabilitation exercises using AI-based metaverse. Metaverse-based e-sportscan be useful in providing sports experiences to people with physical disabilities who are unable to participate in society, and this also allows individuals with disabilities to experience sports that are difficult to actually experience. The use of metaverse will enable effective rehabilitation exercise links in vulnerable communities such as hospitals and farming and fishing villages, and provide integrated services of medical and rehabilitation movements that allow exercise data to be managed in an integrated manner. To this end, interdisciplinary experts should participate in the convergence development of e-sports and rehabilitation exercise.

The study data used for the analysis of this study were obtained from the raw data during the 1st survey of the 2nd wave of the 2019 Panel Survey on the Employment of Persons with Disabilities conducted by the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities. The results showed that, for regular workers, when there was a fixed term of employment contract, it was more likely that the job was retained for 12 months or longer. For the day laborers, workers without a fixed-term employment contract were more likely to retain their jobs for 12 months longer. This suggests that owing to the types of jobs that did not consider disabilities, people with disabilities were facing difficulties in terms of the options available in their job choices and their self-decisions. Therefore, the state would have to develop more job types and skills for these individuals to expand their career options. The growth in the employment of people with disabilities by small businesses that hire day laborers will depend on the diversification of the employment subsidy, which is again dependent on the size of the businesses.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the awareness and needs for community based Telerehabilitation(TR) service by carrying out a online survey targeting individual with disabilities. By using the survey, we attempt to utilize the results as the basis for the health promotion and effective rehabilitation service to the disabilities in the community. Survey was conducted on the 162 target users, who use center for independent living, are registered as disabled. There are 34 questions in total. The results of the study are as follows. First, 74.7% of respondents said 'they had never heard of TR service'. 68.3% of the respondents said that 'they want to use the service' and 78% are positive about the service. Second, 84% of them said 'they have an intend to participate the service', 87.1% of the respondents answered that they needed 'very necessary' and 'necessary' in the question of necessity. Third, as a results of searching the requirements for TR service, it was found that there are requirements such as service system and construction considering the characteristics of the disabled, service provision of rehabilitation experts, and various program composition. Based on the results of this study, we suggest the development of a differentiated TR system program to improve the quality of rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities by considering the reality of rehabilitation treatment of community disabled people and considering the knowledge and needs of TR system.

This study compared the utility of walking aids, and activities of daily life depending on the ability of people with mobility disabilities to use walking aids. Data were extracted from the Korea Welfare Panel Study in 2014. Data of 435,947 individuals were analyzed using chi-square and t-tests. The findings from this study showed that disabled persons who cannot use walking aids independently were more likely to have a severe disability level and a lower level of daily activities than the independent group. The level of social participation and leisure activities were also significantly lower in the dependent than the independent group. Therefore, walking aids should be tailored for individuals depending on their level of independence for using walking aids.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop and test a structural equation model on social re-adjustment of individuals with stroke based on a literature review and Roy's adaptation model. Methods: This study involved 321 participants who had a stroke and visited the outpatient department after discharge. The hypothetical model was developed based on Roy's adaptation model and a comprehensive review of previous literature on the topic. The model comprised four exogenous variables (neurological damage, gender [man], age, and social support) and five endogenous variables (activities of daily living, acceptance of disability, depression, rehabilitation motivation, and social re-adjustment). The data were analyzed using SPSS Windows software version 22.0 and AMOS 23.0. Results: Out of 28 research hypotheses, 18 were supported, and they indicated approximately 64% probability of social re-adjustment. Social re-adjustment is directly and significantly affected by age, social support, activities of daily living, and depression. Social re-adjustment is indirectly affected by neurological impairment, gender (men), age, social support, and rehabilitation motivation. Conclusion: Continuous assistance and care should be provided for individuals with disabilities caused by sudden neurological damage to facilitate gradual improvement in their social re-adjustment. To enhance social re-adjustment, especially among older adults, newly developed interventions should focus on improving their activities of daily living, preventing depression, and enhancing support from family and healthcare personnel.

Social welfare facilities are used by a wide range of local residents, including vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and people with disabilities. During emergencies like fires, confusion can arise as these individuals try to evacuate. Evacuation simulation results have shown that utilizing evacuation systems based on specific evacuation scenarios can significantly decrease the time required for evacuation compared to general evacuation procedures. By anticipating potential fires based on changes in social and facility environments, appropriate evacuation scenarios can be developed and applied to evacuation systems, thus contributing to the safety and security of individuals during emergencies. In conclusion, for social welfare facilities that serve a large number of people, it is necessary to expand the focus on performance-based design depending on the size of the facility, and to continuously develop and train for appropriate evacuation scenarios that align with changing facility environments.

The public library is the local centre of information, the gateway to knowledge. Based on these identities, the public libraries should provide a basic condition for lifelong learning, cultural activities, and. information literacy skills of the individual and social groups. The purpose of this paper is to reflect the lifelong learning activities of public libraries and suggest it's directions in Korea. The lifelong learning of public libraries for the future needs to focus on a closer connection with library core competences, supporting information literacy, reducing and bridging the digital divide for individuals with disabilities and the aged.

People with visual disabilities suffer environmentally, socially, and technologically. Navigating through places and recognizing objects are already a big challenge for them who require assistance. This study aimed to develop an android-based assistive application for the visually impaired. Specifically, the study aimed to create a system that could aid visually impaired individuals performs significant tasks through object recognition and identifying locations through GPS and Google Maps. In this study, the researchers used an android phone allowing a visually impaired individual to go from one place to another with the aid of the application. Google Maps is integrated to utilize GPS in identifying locations and giving distance directions and the system has a cloud server used for storing pinned locations. Furthermore, Haar-like features were used in object recognition.
