An Incremental Rule Extraction Algorithm Based on Recursive Partition Averaging (재귀적 분할 평균에 기반한 점진적 규칙 추출 알고리즘)

  • One of the popular methods used for pattern classification is the MBR (Memory-Based Reasoning) algorithm. Since it simply computes distances between a test pattern and training patterns or hyperplanes stored in memory, and then assigns the class of the nearest training pattern, it cannot explain how the classification result is obtained. In order to overcome this problem, we propose an incremental teaming algorithm based on RPA (Recursive Partition Averaging) to extract IF-THEN rules that describe regularities inherent in training patterns. But rules generated by RPA eventually show an overfitting phenomenon, because they depend too strongly on the details of given training patterns. Also RPA produces more number of rules than necessary, due to over-partitioning of the pattern space. Consequently, we present the IREA (Incremental Rule Extraction Algorithm) that overcomes overfitting problem by removing useless conditions from rules and reduces the number of rules at the same time. We verify the performance of proposed algorithm using benchmark data sets from UCI Machine Learning Repository.

Speaker Identification Based on Incremental Learning Neural Network

  • Speech signal has various features of speakers. This feature is extracted from speech signal processing. The speaker is identified by the speaker identification system. In this paper, we propose the speaker identification system that uses the incremental learning based on neural network. Recorded speech signal through the microphone is blocked to the frame of 1024 speech samples. Energy is divided speech signal to voiced signal and unvoiced signal. The extracted 12 orders LPC cpestrum coefficients are used with input data for neural network. The speakers are identified with the speaker identification system using the neural network. The neural network has the structure of MLP which consists of 12 input nodes, 8 hidden nodes, and 4 output nodes. The number of output node means the identified speakers. The first output node is excited to the first speaker. Incremental learning begins when the new speaker is identified. Incremental learning is the learning algorithm that already learned weights are remembered and only the new weights that are created as adding new speaker are trained. It is learning algorithm that overcomes the fault of neural network. The neural network repeats the learning when the new speaker is entered to it. The architecture of neural network is extended with the number of speakers. Therefore, this system can learn without the restricted number of speakers.

  • Incremental learning generally reduces training time and increases the generalization of a neural network by selecting training data incrementally during the training. However, the existing methods of incremental learning repeatedly evaluate the importance of training data every time they select additional data. In this paper, an incremental learning algorithm is proposed for pattern classification problems. It evaluates the importance of each piece of data only once before starting the training. The importance of the data depends on how close they are to the decision boundary. The current paper presents an algorithm which orders the data according to their distance to the decision boundary by using clustering. Experimental results of two artificial and real world classification problems show that this proposed incremental learning method significantly reduces the size of the training set without decreasing generalization performance.

Incremental Fuzzy Clustering Based on a Fuzzy Scatter Matrix

  • For clustering large-scale data, which cannot be loaded into memory entirely, incremental clustering algorithms are very popular. Usually, these algorithms only concern the within-cluster compactness and ignore the between-cluster separation. In this paper, we propose two incremental fuzzy compactness and separation (FCS) clustering algorithms, Single-Pass FCS (SPFCS) and Online FCS (OFCS), based on a fuzzy scatter matrix. Firstly, we introduce two incremental clustering methods called single-pass and online fuzzy C-means algorithms. Then, we combine these two methods separately with the weighted fuzzy C-means algorithm, so that they can be applied to the FCS algorithm. Afterwards, we optimize the within-cluster matrix and betweencluster matrix simultaneously to obtain the minimum within-cluster distance and maximum between-cluster distance. Finally, large-scale datasets can be well clustered within limited memory. We implemented experiments on some artificial datasets and real datasets separately. And experimental results show that, compared with SPFCM and OFCM, our SPFCS and OFCS are more robust to the value of fuzzy index m and noise.

  • This research suggests maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for the solar photovoltaic (PV) power scheme using a new constant voltage (CV) fractional order incremental conductance (FOINC) algorithm. The PV panel has low transformation efficiency and power output of PV panel depends on the change in weather conditions. Possible extracting power can be raised to a battery load utilizing a MPPT algorithm. Among all the MPPT strategies, the incremental conductance (INC) algorithm is mostly employed due to easy implementation, less fluctuations and faster tracking, which is not only has the merits of INC, fractional order can deliver a dynamic mathematical modelling to define non-linear physiognomies. CV-FOINC variation as dynamic variable is exploited to regulate the PV power toward the peak operating point. For a lesser scale photovoltaic conversion scheme, the suggested technique is validated by simulation with dissimilar operating conditions. Contributions are made in numerous aspects of the entire system, including new control algorithm design, system simulation, converter design, programming into simulation environment and experimental setup. The results confirm that the small tracking period and practicality in tracking of photovoltaic array.

GPU-based Stereo Matching Algorithm with the Strategy of Population-based Incremental Learning

  • To solve the general problems surrounding the application of genetic algorithms in stereo matching, two measures are proposed. Firstly, the strategy of simplified population-based incremental learning (PBIL) is adopted to reduce the problems with memory consumption and search inefficiency, and a scheme for controlling the distance of neighbors for disparity smoothness is inserted to obtain a wide-area consistency of disparities. In addition, an alternative version of the proposed algorithm, without the use of a probability vector, is also presented for simpler set-ups. Secondly, programmable graphics-hardware (GPU) consists of multiple multi-processors and has a powerful parallelism which can perform operations in parallel at low cost. Therefore, in order to decrease the running time further, a model of the proposed algorithm, which can be run on programmable graphics-hardware (GPU), is presented for the first time. The algorithms are implemented on the CPU as well as on the GPU and are evaluated by experiments. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm offers better performance than traditional BMA methods with a deliberate relaxation and its modified version in terms of both running speed and stability. The comparison of computation times for the algorithm both on the GPU and the CPU shows that the former has more speed-up than the latter, the bigger the image size is.

  • Pattern classification is an essential step in automatic robotic assembly which joins together finite number of seperated industrial parts. In this paper, a fast and systematic algorithm for classifying occlusion-free objects is proposed, using the notion of incremental circle transform which describes the boundary contour of an object as a parametric vector function of incremental elements. With similarity transform and line integral, normalized determinant curve of an object classifies each object, independent of position, orientation, scaling of an object and cyclic shift of the stating point for the boundary description.

  • A new approach has been proposed for the incremental analysis of the nonsteady state large deformation of planar anisotropic elastic-plastic sheet forming. A mathematical brief review of a constitutive law for the incremental deformation theory has been presented from flow theory using the minimum plastic work path for elastic-plastic material. Since the material embedded coordinate system(Lagrangian quantity) is used in the proposed theory the stress integration procedure is completely objective. A new return mapping algorithm has been also developed from the general midpoint rule so as to achieve numerically large strain increment by successive control of yield function residuals. Some numerical tests for the return mapping algorithm were performed using Barlat's six component anisotropic stress potential. Performance of the proposed algorithm was shown to be good and stable for a large strain increment, For planar anisotropic sheet forming updating algorithm of planar anisotropic axes has been newly proposed. In order to show the effectiveness and validity of the present formulation earing simulation for a cylindrical cup drawing and front fender stamping analysis are performed. From the results it has been shown that the present formulation can provide a good basis for analysis for analysis of elastic-plastic sheet metal forming processes.

  • The Delaunay triangular net is primarily characterized by a balance of the whole by improving divided triangular patches into a regular triangle, which closely resembles an equiangular triangle. A triangular net occurring in certain, point-clustered, data is unique and can always create the same triangular net. Due to such unique characteristics, Delaunay triangulation is used in various fields., such as shape reconstruction, solid modeling and volume rendering. There are many algorithms available for Delaunay triangulation but, efficient sequential algorithms are rare. When these grids involve a set of points whose distribution are not well proportioned, the execution speed becomes slower than in a well-proportioned grid. In order to make up for this weakness, the ids are divided into sub-grids when the sets are integrated inside the grid. A method for finding a mate in an incremental construction algorithm is to first search the area with a higher possibility of forming a regular triangular net, while the existing method is to find a set of points inside the grid that includes the circumscribed sphere, increasing the radius of the circumscribed sphere to a certain extent. Therefore, due to its more efficient searching performance, it takes a shorer time to form a triangular net than general incremental algorithms.

Incremental Strategy-based Residual Regression Networks for Node Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • The easy scalability and low cost of range-free localization algorithms have led to their wide attention and application in node localization of wireless sensor networks. However, the existing range-free localization algorithms still have problems, such as large cumulative errors and poor localization performance. To solve these problems, an incremental strategy-based residual regression network is proposed for node localization in wireless sensor networks. The algorithm predicts the coordinates of the nodes to be solved by building a deep learning model and fine-tunes the prediction results by regression based on the intersection of the communication range between the predicted and real coordinates and the loss function, which improves the localization performance of the algorithm. Moreover, a correction scheme is proposed to correct the augmented data in the incremental strategy, which reduces the cumulative error generated during the algorithm localization. The analysis through simulation experiments demonstrates that our proposed algorithm has strong robustness and has obvious advantages in localization performance compared with other algorithms.
