An attempt was made to study circulatory and respiratory responses to the passive tilt. Anesthetized dogs were tilted from horizontal to upright $(+90^{\circ})$ and head down $(-90^{\circ})$ position. The arterial blood pressure was decreased in the upright position and was decreased slightly in the head down position comparing to that in the horizontal position. Cardiac index also decreased in the both upright and head down positions. The total systemic vascular resistance was slightly increased in the upright position and was markedly increased in the head down position. The mean pulmonary arterial pressure was significantly decreased in the both upright and head down positions. The total pulmonary vascular resistance was decreased in the both upright and head down positions. Oxygen consumption was slightly decreased in the upright position, whereas it was slightly increased in the head down position. The A-V $O_2$ difference (vol. %) was slightly increased in the upright position and increased in the head down position. From the above results, process of the circulatory compensation to the gravity in the Passive tilting test was discussed. Neuronal cardiovascular regulation to the gravity and tile adaptation of capacitance vessles to hydrostatic stress and oxygen consumption concerning anoxic endurance of the brain were also discussed.
This study investigates how rivet head height affects the corrosion performance of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to aluminum alloy self-piercing riveted joints. Specimens with two different head heights were prepared. A rivet head protruding out of the top CFRP laminate forms the proud head height while a rivet head penetrating into the top CFRP generates the flush head height. The salt spray test evaluated corrosion performance. The flush head joints suffered from severe corrosion on the rivet head. Thus, the tensile shear load of flush head joints was substantially reduced. Electrochemical corrosion tests investigated the corrosion mechanisms. The deeper indentation of the flush head height damaged the CFRP around the rivet head. The exposure of damaged fibers from the matrix increased the cathodic potential of local CFRP. The increased potential of damaged CFRP accelerated the galvanic corrosion of the rivet head. After the rivet head coating material corroded, a strong galvanic couple was formed between the rivet head base metal (boron steel) and the damaged CFRP, further accelerating the flush rivet head corrosion. The results of this study suggest that rivet head flushness should be avoided to enhance the corrosion performance of CFRP to aluminum alloy self-piercing riveted joints.

Background and Objectives : Narrow Band Imaging(NBI) is a novel optical technique that enhances the visualization of superficial microvascular architecture which is commonly increased and founded as an irregular shape in a neoplastic lesion. The aim of this study is the evaluation of the usefulness of NBI in the diagnosis of Head and Neck Cancer. Subjects and Methods : From December 2009 to January 2011, 31 consecutive patients who were diagnosed with head and neck malignancy were enrolled in this prospective study. The malignant findings of NBI were demarcated brownish lesion or increased intraepithelial papillary capillary loops(IPCLs) with or without irregularity. Results : There were 29 cases(93.5%) of well demarcated brownish lesion, 26 cases(83.9%) of increased IPCLs and 4 cases(12.9%) of satellite lesions. Diagnostic accuracy of endoscopic examination was increased from 83.9% to 93.5%, when NBI was applied to the conventional endoscopy(p>0.05). Conclusion : NBI is a powerful and safe screening test, which can be performed in out patient clinic without any supplementary procedure.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the Effective X-Factor in golf swing. The term X-Factor means the relative rotation of shoulders with respect to hips during the golf swing. To ascertain the Effective X-Factor that resulted in a high club head speed at impact six golfers' swing motions were videotaped and analyzed using three-dimensional techniques. The results can be summarized as follows. The standard deviations of the professionals' average club head speeds were higher than the amateurs'. This means that the professionals' swing skills were better than amateurs' in driving accuracy and consistency. As the club head speeds were increased gradually the X-Factors and the club head speeds had reached to the subjects' average club head speeds, but the X-Factors and the club head speeds were not increased above the subjects' average club head speeds. The X-Factor Stretch early in the down swing was existed and Professional stretched values were higher than the amateurs. In conclusion my research results suggested that the increase in Effective X-Factors had no relationship to the increase in club head speeds.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the counter-pressure setting and the roller speed of a rice whitening machine on the head rice recovery. milling capacity and milling efficiency, and also to find out the optimum operational conditions of the machine. The radial pressure inside the whitening chamber and the outlet axial pressure were measured to study their relationships with the head rice recovery, milling capacity and milling efficiency. The results of the study are summarized as follows. (1) The most important factor in rice whitening was the counter-pressure setting. It significantly affected the head rice recovery. (2) The roller speed significant affected the milling capacity and milling efficiency , but it did not affected the head rice recovery. (3) Both the radial pressure and the outlet axial pressure were affected by the counter-pressure setting but not by the roller speed. Both of them increased almost linearly with the counter-pressure setting. There was a significant correlation between the radial pressure and the outlet axial pressure. (4) The flow rate through the whitening chamber when the feed gate was fully opened increased with the roller speed, but it was not affected by the counter-pressure setting. (5) The head rice recovery decreased as the counter-pressure setting increased , but it was not affected by the roller speed. The reason could be explained by the fact that the radical pressure increased only with the counter-pressure setting. (6) The milling capacity increased with the counter-pressure setting and linearly with the roller speed. The milling efficiency generally increased with both the counter-pressure setting and the roller speed. However, the effect of roller speed was negligible at the higher counter-pressure setting. The temperature rise inside the whitening chamber was moderate with the mean of 11.3℃ (range 5.6-18.3℃) even though it increased slightly with the roller speed. Considering the head rice recovery and milling efficiency, the optimum operational conditions of the machine appeared to be the counter-pressure setting of 67g/㎠ and the roller speed of 1,050rpm. Neglecting the small difference in the head rice recovery , the greater milling capacity could be obtained at the counter-pressure setting of 85g/㎠ with the roller speed of 850-1050rpm.
Purpose: This paper proposes proper and effective neck exercises by comparing the deep and superficial cervical flexor muscle activities and thickness according to the pressure level during cranio-cervical flexion exercises between a normal posture group and forward head posture group. Methods: A total of 20 subjects (8 males and 12 females) without neck pain and disabilities were selected. The subjects' craniovertebral angles were measured; they were divided into a normal posture and a forward head posture group. During cranio-cervical flexion exercises, the thickness of the deep cervical flexor neck muscle and the activity of the surface neck muscles were measured using ultrasound and EMG. Results: The results showed that the thickening of the deep cervical flexor was increased significantly to 28 and 30 mmHg in the forward head posture group. The sternocleidomastoid muscle activity increased significantly to 24, 26, 28, and 30 mmHg in the forward head posture group. The anterior scalene muscle activity increased significantly to 26, 28, and 30mmHg in the forward head posture group. A significant difference of 26, 28, and 30 mmHg in the sternocleidomastoid and anterior scalene muscles was observed between two groups. Conclusion: To prevent a forward head posture and maintain proper cervical curve alignment, the use of the superficial cervical flexor muscles must be minimized. In addition, to perform a cranio-cervical flexion exercises to effectively activate the deep cervical flexor muscles, 28 and 30 mmHg for normal posture adults and 28 mmHg for adults with forward head postures are recommended.
Background: Novel prognostic biomarkers or therapeutic molecular targets for laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) are an urgent priority. We here sought to identify multiple novel LSCC-associated genes. Methods: Using high-density microarray expression profiling, we identified multiple genes that were significantly altered between human LSCCs and paired normal tissues. Potential oncogenic functions of one such gene, DCUN1D5, were further characterized in vitro. Results: Our results demonstrated that DCUN1D5 was highly expressed in LSCCs. Overexpression of DCUN1D5 in vitro resulted in 2.7-fold increased cellular migration, 67.5% increased invasive capacity, and 2.6-fold increased proliferation. Endogenous DCUN1D5 expression was decreased in a time-dependent manner after genotoxic stress, and silencing of DCUN1D5 by siRNA decreased the number of cells in the S phase by 10.2% and increased apoptosis by 11.7%. Conclusion: Our data suggest that DCUN1D5 in vitro might have vital roles in DNA damage response, but further studies are warranted to assess its significance in vivo.

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to investigate of the change of the forward head posture(FHP) according to computer using time. Methods:Subjects were 30 male and 30 female. The factors of FHP were measured cranial vertical angle, cranial rotation angle, and head, upper back, neck flexion/extension angle according to computer using time. Change of FHP used to Digital Inclinometry(JTech, Dualer IQTM Dual Inclinometer). The data were collected by data logger(Logger Teknologi HB, Akarp, Sweden). Results:Cranial vertical angle, cranial rotation angle, and head, upper back, neck flexion/extension were increased according to computer using time(p<.05). But cranial vertical angle and cranial rotation angle, and head, upper back, neck flexion/extension were not significant differences between male and female group(p>.05). Conclusion:The effects of cranial vertical angle, cranial rotation angl and head, neck and upper back angle depend on the computer task time. Increased of FHP may result increased tension in posture muscles of cervical spine, resulting in a risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence on mandibular movements and TMJ sounds with changes of head and neck posture. For the research, twenty patients who had complained of TMJ sounds without any other symptoms of cranio-mandibular disorders, were selected as subjects for measurements of TMJ sounds, and radiographs on transcranial view of TMJ were taken on ten of the subjects. From NHP, UHP, DHP and FHP, aspects of mandibular movement and TMJ sound were investigated from each posture. Aspects of mandibular movement and TMJ sound were observed by measuring total vibration energy(Integral), peak amplitude, maximum amound of mouth opening, and TMJ sound-emitting point using Sonopak for windows (version 1.33) and Bio-EGN(Bioresearch Inc. WI. U.S.A.). Head and neck movement-measuring instrument, CROM(perfomance attainment Inc. U.S.A.) was to maintain even head posture. Degrees of inclination of UHP and DHP were determined at 30' and distance of FHP was 4cm. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Total vibration energy and peak amplitude of TMJ sounds were decreased more on UHP and on UHP and increased more on DHP and FHP than that on NHP. 2. At the maximum mouth opening, distance of TMJ sound-emitting point were decreased more on UHP and increased more on DHP and FHP than that on NHP. 3. The amounts of the maximum mouth opening were increased more on UHP and decreased more on DHP and FHP than that on NHP. 4. For the changes of the head posture with mouth opening observed in radiograph, condylar head was positioned more lower-anteriorly on UHP, and more upper-posteriorly on DHP and FHP than that on NHP. From the results obtained as above, considering positive influence of the change of head and neck posture, avoiding down-head and forward-head posture, and recommending upper- head posture can prevent the progress of temporomandibular disorder and lead to successful treatment for the patients with temporomandibular joint sounds.
The water delivery hose for agricultural pump is getting popular in rural areas in korea. Friction head loss, discharge, and power requirements were measured in various discharge for different material and diameter of hose to get basic data for economical use in agricultural pump. The results attained in this study were as follows ; 1. Friction head loss increased significantly as the velocity increased, and the difference of velocity between the different diameter of hose was bigger than that between materials, which was resulted in the increase of the friction head loss. 2. Friction head loss in the case of that the velocity with 2m/sec was constant was about 3.53 to 4.01 m/100m in the diameter 3" and about 2.30 to 3.10 m/100m in the diameter 4". Material A of diameter 3" showed the maximum value 8.4m/100m in Reynolds number $2.0\times10^5$, 4" got the minimum value 2.24m/100m, the difference between these values was bigger than 6m per 100 meters in the friction head loss. 3. Darcy-Weisbach formular with friction coefficient [f] calculated by Nikurades formular in the smooth pipe or with friction coefficient [f] calculated on the base of C value 125 in Hazen-Williams formular was available in friction head loss of the water discharger hose in rural areas. 4. Total head increased as friction head loss increased , meanwhile total discharge decreased, and 20 percents of energy was more saved in Material C 4″pipe than Material A 3″pipe in the view point from the discharge per unit power requirement, this phenomenon suggested that long distance pipe would be advantage in larger diameter pipe for save of energy. for save of energy.
