탄화수소 부존구조 평가를 위한 교차출력과 진폭다항식을 이용한 AVO 분석 (AVO analysis using crossplot and amplitude polynomial methods for characterisation of hydrocarbon reservoirs)

  • 탄화수소 부존특성 파악의 적용가능성을 판단하기 위해 입사각에 관한 진폭식을 이용한 교차출력파 오프셋항이 있는 진폭 다항식의 계수를 이용하여 AVO 분석을 수행하였다. 분석을 위한 탄성파 자료는 배사구조가 발달하고 탄화수소가 부존하고 있다고 가정한 층이 포함된 지층구조에 대한 합성 탄성파 자료와 탄화수소 존재가 확인된 캐나다 앨버타 콜로니 층의 현장 탄성파 자료를 이용하였다. 배사구조 지층모형의 합성 탄성파 자료의 분석결과 탄화수소가 부존하고 있다고 가정한 층의 상부경계는 음의 수직반사진폭과 음의 진폭변화율을 보이고 교차출력에서는 3 사분면에 분포하였다. 캐나다 앨버타 콜로니 층의 현장자료에서도 진폭 이상대와 교차출력에서 합성 탄성파 자료와 같은 양상을 보이고 있는 점으로 보아 탄화수소 부존 층의 상부경계는 음의 수직반사진폭과 음의 진폭변화율로 특징될 수 있다. 또한 입사각에 관한 진폭 식과 오프셋 항이 있는 진폭다항식의 계주를 이용한 AVO 분석 결과가 서로 일치된 것으로 나타나 이와 같은 두 개의 비교분석 방법은 앞으로 탄화수소의 부존특성을 효과적으로 파악하는데 이용될 수 있을 것이다. 즉 입사각 방정식을 이용한 분석방법은 다양한 해석기법을 적용할 수 있게 하지만 자료를 입사각 자료로 분류해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 반면에 진폭다항식의 계수를 이용하는 분석기법은 자료 분류가 수반되지 않는 경제적인 방법으로 보이는데 앞으로 이에 대한 적용성 연구가 더 진행되어야 할 것이다.

가습기살균제 피해자의 아픔을 줄일 수 있었다 (It Was Possible to Reduce the Pain of the Victims of Humidifier Disinfectant)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to reveal the circumstances under which the cases of harm to health caused by humidifier disinfectant were neglected and show the points where the number of victims and the degree of damage could have been reduced. In addition, it attempts to describe how damage management proceeded immediately after the incident and actually exacerbated the damage. Finally, it explores the unfortunate aspects of the recent trial. By doing so, it attempts to take this as an opportunity to consider whether a tragic event such as the humidifier disinfectant incident could occur in the future. Methods: This study collected and analyzed data on chemical material characteristics related to humidifier disinfectants, data on health effect characteristics, data on related laws and regulations from the Ministry of Environment, data related to the damage investigation by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, and current contents. Results: The lack of related systems and laws is the area where the greatest responsibility for the cause of the humidifier disinfectant disaster falls, so it is difficult for the government to escape this responsibility. Establishing a dedicated department to identify the prevalence of certain diseases within the functions of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service to monitor health can greatly contribute to the prevention and management of diseases through early detection and management of group outbreaks caused by harmful factors. Humidifier disinfectant damage relief should have been expanded earlier beyond HDLI (humidifier disinfectant lung injury) to include non-specific diseases such as asthma, pneumonia, and interstitial pneumonia. The scope of relief benefits should have also been expanded earlier to include the payment of disability benefits. Fortunately, with the 2020 revision of the Special Act, the conditions for estimating causal relations were eased and individual screening systems such as health impact assessment were reorganized along with the introduction of a rapid screening system. Conclusions: The management system for chemical substances in a country is clearly of paramount importance, and the ministry in charge must have a response system in case of damage to health effects. Administration that looks at the victims' situation from their point of view is needed, and technical countermeasures are required to quickly recognize the prevalence of certain diseases.

복합 집속 카메라의 섬광체배열에서 다중산란에 의한 위치 불확실성 (Position Uncertainty due to Multi-scattering in the Scintillator Array of Dual Collimation Camera)

  • 방사선 반응에서의 위치정보는 방사선 선원의 영상을 재구성하는데 있어서 매우 중요한 기본정보이다. 이에 대부분의 위치 검출 기술을 이용하여 검출기안에서의 일어난 단일 반응의 위치정보를 알아낼 수 있다. 그러나 섬광체 안에서의 다중산란의 경우 각각의 산란위치를 개별적으로 측정할 수 없고 여러 산란위치의 평균만이 구해질 수 있어서 측정된 방사능의 위치정보에 불확실성이 존재하게 된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 다중산란에 따른 위치 불확실성을 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션으로 계산하였다. 시뮬레이션 모델은 복합 집속 카메라에 사용된 $50{\times}50{\times}5mm\;LaCl_3$(Ce) 섬광체(pixel크기는 $2{\times}2{\times}5mm$)이다. 복합 집속 카메라는 광전효과와 컴프턴 산란 모두에서 정보를 얻으므로 방사선의 반응에서 부분에너지만 (검출기에) 검출되는 경우와 모든 에너지가 검출 되는 경우를 나누어 위치 불확실성을 계산하였다. 부분에너지만 검출되는 경우 (PED) 위치의 표준편차는 $1{\sim}2mm$ 미만으로 다중산란에 의한 불확실성이 크지 않다는 것을 알 수 있다. PED의 경우 다중산란의 영향이 크지 않으므로 이러한 다중산란은 컴프턴 카메라의 성능에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그러나 모든 에너지가 검출되는 경우 (FED), 122keV입사방사선의 경우를 제외하면, 그 위치의 표준편차가 1차 검출기의 pixel크기에 2배에 달한다. 그러므로 복합 집속 카메라의 코드화된 마스크를 설계하는데 있어 재구성된 영상의 잡음을 방지하기 위해 다중산란에 의한 표준편차가 고려되어야 한다. 모든 입사 방사선에너지에 대하여 FED에 의한 위치 불확실성은 PED에 의한 것 보다 크며 PED 대 FED의 비는 입사방사선의 에너지가 증가함에 따라서 커진다. PED와 FED의 경우 모두 위치의 불확실성이 입사방사선의 에너지에 따라 달라졌다.

ANALYSIS OF CHARGE COLLECTION EFFICIENCY FOR A PLANAR CdZnTe DETECTOR

  • The response property of the CZT detector ($5{\times}5{\times}5\;mm^3$), widely used in photon spectroscopy, was evaluated by considering the charge collection efficiency, which depends on the interaction position of incident radiation, A quantitative analysis of the energy spectra obtained from the CZT detector was also performed to investigate the tail effect at the low energy side of the full energy peak. The collection efficiency of electrons and holes to the two electrodes (i.e., cathode and anode) was calculated from the Hecht equation, and radiation transport analysis was performed by two Monte Carlo codes, Geant4 and MCNPX. The radiation source was assumed to be 59.5 keV gamma rays emitted from a $^{241}Am$ source into the cathode surface of this detector, and the detector was assumed to be biased to 500 V between the two electrodes. Through the comparison of the results between the Geant4 calculation considering the charge collection efficiency and the ideal case from MCNPX, an pronounced difference of 4 keV was found in the full energy peak position. The tail effect at the low energy side of the full energy peak was confirmed to be caused by the collection efficiency of electrons and holes. In more detail, it was shown that the tail height caused by the charge collection efficiency went up to 1000 times the pulse height in the same energy bin at the calculation without considering the charge collection efficiency. It is, therefore, apparent that research considering the charge collection efficiency is necessary in order to properly analyze the characteristics of CZT detectors.

수중강판의 결함 및 열화 검출을 위한 탄성파 유한요소 시뮬레이션 (Finite Element Simulation of Elastic Waves for Detecting Defects and Deteriorations in Underwater Steel Plates)

  • This paper presents the results of finite element simulations of elastic wave propagation in an underwater steel plate and the verification of a proposed method utilizing elastic wave-based damage detection. For the simulation and verification, we carried out the following procedures. First, three-dimensional finite element models were constructed using a general purpose finite element program. Second, two types of damages (mechanical defects and deteriorations) were applied to the underwater steel plate and three parameters (defect location, defect width, and depth) were considered to adjust the severity of the applied damages. Third, elastic waves were generated using the oblique incident method with a Gaussian tone burst, and the response signals were obtained at the receiving point for each defect or deterioration case. In addition, the received time domain signals were analyzed, particularly by measuring the magnitudes of the maximum amplitudes. Finally, the presence and severity of each type of damage were identified by the decreasing ratios of the maximum amplitudes. The results showed that the received signals for the models had the same global pattern with minor changes in the amplitudes and phases, and the decreasing ratio generally increased as the damage area increased. In addition, we found that the defect depth was more critical than the width in the decrease of the amplitude. This mainly occurred because the layout of the depth interfered with the elastic wave propagation in a more severe manner than the layout of the width. An inverse analysis showed that the proposed method is applicable for detecting mechanical defects and quantifying their severity.

적응 배열 안테나에 부귀환 직교 다중사용자 검출기를 결합한 준 최적 수신기 (Suboptimal Receiver Combining Adaptive Array Antenna and Orthogonal Decision-Feedback Detector)

  • 본 논문에서는 DS/CDMA 시스템에서 적응 배열 안테나에 부귀환 직교 다중 사용자 검출기를 결합한 준 최적 수신기에 관한 성능을 분석하였다. 적응 배열 안테나는 빔 형성 기법을 사용하여 사용자 신호 방향으로는 빔을 형성하고 다른 방향의 사용자 신호로는 널(null)빔을 형성하여 공간적으로 간섭을 제거할 수 있다. 그러나 유사한 방향에서 입사하는 사용자들 간에 대해서는 기존의 적응 배열 안테나만으로는 간섭을 제거할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 적응 배열 안테나에 부귀환 직교 다중 사용자 검출기(ODFD)를 결합함으로 써 적응 배열 안테나에서 제거할 수 없었던 유사한 입사각을 갖는 사용자들에 대한 간섭을 제거할 수 있는 수신기의 성능을 비교하여 분석하였다. 또한, 부귀환 역상관 다중사용자 검출기(DDFD)를 채택하였을 경우와도 비교하여 부귀환 직교 다중사용자 검출기를 사용함으로써 성능은 유사한 반면 복잡도를 줄일 수 있음을 보였다.

다채널 표면 플라즈몬 공명 영상장치를 이용한 자기조립 단분자막의 표면 분석

  • 본 논문에서는 금속의 표면 플라즈몬 공명으로 인한 금속-유전체 경계면에서의 국소적 전자기장의 강화 효과를 이용하여 표면 플라즈몬을 유발하는 금 박막을 유리 기판위에 증착하고, 프리즘 커플러를 이용한 소산장의 공명 흡수현상을 이차원 영상 으로 얻었다. 특히 DNA/단백질 칩 등 향후 가능한 다채널 시스템에의 응용을 고려하여11-MUA, 11-MUOH 등 자기조립 단분자막(SAM)을 크롬 마스크와 리토그래피, 그리고 Shadow mask와 광 산화반응을 이용하여 금 표면 위에 패터닝 하였다. 텅스텐-할로겐 램프와 중심파장이 ${\lambda}_0=633$ nm의 대역통과 필터를 사용하여 이 평행광을 프리즘 커플러에 입사시켜 반사되어 나오는 반사광의 이차원 영상을 얻었다. 이와는 별도로 ${\lambda}_0=633$ nm의 레이저를 이용하여 단분자막이 코팅되어 있을 때와 없을 때의 공명각의 변화를 관찰하였다. 얻어진 이차원 영상의 위치에 따른 화소 값의 변화를 단분자 막의 두께의 변화에 따라 보정하고, 알려진 매질의 SPR 특성을 Fresnel 방정식에 따라 이론적으로 계산하면 다채널 표면 영상으로부터 항원-항체 등 단백질의 결합 정도를 정량적으로 측정할 수 있다.

Probing Polarization Modes of Ag Nanowires with Hot Electron Detection on $Au/TiO_2$ Nanodiodes

  • Nanostructured noble metals have been attractive for their unusual optical properties and are widely utilized for various purposes. The optical properties mainly originating from collective electron oscillation can assist direct energy conversion via surface plasmon resonances. Here, we investigated the effect of surface plasmons of silver nanowires on the generation of hot electrons. It is reported that the surface plasmons of silver nanowires exhibit longitudinal and transverse modes, depending on the aspect ratio of the nanowires. In order to measure the hot electron flow through the metallic nanowires, chemically modified Au/TiO2 Schottky diodes were employed as the electric contact. The silver nanowires were deposited on a Au metal layer via the spray method to control uniformity and the amount of silver nanowire deposited. We measured the hot electron flow generated by photon absorption on the silver nanowires deposited on the Au/TiO2 Schottky diodes. The incident photon-to-current efficiency was measured a function of the photon energy, revealing two polarization modes of siliver nanowires: transverse and longitudinal modes. UV-Vis spectra exhibited two polarization modes, which are also consistent with the photocurrent measurements. Good correlation between the IPCE and UV-vis measurements suggests that hot electron measurement on nanowires on nanodiodes is a useful way to reveal the intrinsic properties of surface plasmons of nanowires.

Microcantilever biosensor: sensing platform, surface characterization and multiscale modeling

  • The microcantilever (MCL) sensor is one of the most promising platforms for next-generation label-free biosensing applications. It outperforms conventional label-free detection methods in terms of portability and parallelization. In this paper, an overview of recent advances in our understanding of the coupling between biomolecular interactions and MCL responses is given. A dual compact optical MCL sensing platform was built to enable biosensing experiments both in gas-phase environments and in solutions. The thermal bimorph effect was found to be an effective nanomanipulator for the MCL platform calibration. The study of the alkanethiol self-assembly monolayer (SAM) chain length effect revealed that 1-octanethiol ($C_8H_{17}SH$) induced a larger deflection than that from 1-dodecanethiol ($C_{12}H_{25}SH$) in solutions. Using the clinically relevant biomarker C-reactive protein (CRP), we revealed that the analytical sensitivity of the MCL reached a diagnostic level of $1{\sim}500{\mu}g/ml$ within a 7% coefficient of variation. Using grazing incident x-ray diffractometer (GIXRD) analysis, we found that the gold surface was dominated by the (111) crystalline plane. Moreover, using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, we confirmed that the Au-S covalent bonds occurred in SAM adsorption whereas CRP molecular bindings occurred in protein analysis. First principles density functional theory (DFT) simulations were also used to examine biomolecular adsorption mechanisms. Multiscale modeling was then developed to connect the interactions at the molecular level with the MCL mechanical response. The alkanethiol SAM chain length effect in air was successfully predicted using the multiscale scheme.

Is Early Detection of Colon Cancer Possible with Red Blood Cell Distribution Width?

  • Background: Red cell distribution width (RDW) is one of the standard parameters with blood cell counts. Much previous research has indicated that it increases in cases of systemic inflammation or cardiametabolic incident. However, information on the relation of RDW with solid tumors causing systemic inflammation is limited. In the present research, we examined the relation of RDW with malignant and benign lesions of the colon. Materials and Methods: 115 patients with colon polyps (group 1), and 30 with colon cancer (group 2) who were diagnosed histopathologically in our clinic between January 2010-January 2013 were scanned retrospectively. Patients with anemia, hematologic diseases and active inflammation were excluded. RDW, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), hemoglobin (Hgb) and platelet (Plt) measurements were recorded and their relations with the malignant and benign lesions of the colon were examined. Results: Both groups were similar in age and gender distribution. RDW values of patients with colon cancer were significantly higher than the patients with colon polyp (p=0,01). No significant differences were detected between the two groups in terms of MCV and Plt values (p>0,05). Conclusions: RDW can be used as an early warning biomarker for solid colon tumors. Further prospective research is required on the relations of cheap and easily measured RDW parameters with colon malignancies.
