  • This paper proposes an evaluates a new approach to detect ships as targets from Radarsat-1 SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery in the vicinity of Korean peninsula. To be more specific, a labeling technique and morphological filtering in conjunction with some other methods are employed to automatically detect the ships. From the test, the ships are revealed to be detected. For ground truth data, information from a radar system is used, which allows assessing accuracy of the approach. The results showed that the proposed approach has the high potential in automatically detecting the ships.

  • China has invested for military satellite technology development to construct the space-based surveillance system from existing land-based and aerostat surveillance system since 1960s to react rapidly for deployment of marine force of United States and surrounding nations in west Pacific, south China sea and Indian ocean. China has also launched about 40 the Yaogan military intelligence satellites series for EO, SAR and ELINT fields since 2006 after the required technique with several technical experiment satellites launch and operational test. ELINT satellites transmit data from satellite to earth station in real time with construction space-based network around it. Those data are simultaneously delivered to Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile(ASBM) connected land-based C4ISR network for marine target attack. Therefore China has enhanced surveillance and attack capability to the surrounding marine nations with space-based network around it. In the future, It is considered that China will increase accurate location search, signal processing and analysis ability through a further study on its technology.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of improving the light-load efficiency of DC-DC buck converter using 4bit SAR-ADC (Successive Approximation ADC) for a LDO or a power transistor size selection technique. The proposed circuit selects power transistor sizes depending on load current so that improves the light-load efficiency of the DC-DC buck converter. For this, we select the power transistor size with a cross point of the switching loss and the conduction loss. Also, when the IC operates in standby mode or sleep mode, a LDO mode is selected for improving the efficiency. The proposed circuit selects power transistor sizes(X1, X2, X4, X8) with 4 bits and its efficiency is higher about the maximum of 25% at the light-load than that of a single transistor size. Input voltage and output voltage are 5V and 3.3V for maximum load currents of 500mA.

  • NCW(Network Centric- Warfare) encompasses the concept to use computer data processing and network linkage communications techniques, share information and furthermore, enhance the effectiveness of computer-operating systems. As IT(Information & Technology) have become developed in the recent years, the existing warfare system-centered conventional protocol is not use any longer. Instead, network-based NCW is being widely-available, today. Under this changing computer environment, it becomes important to establish algorithm and build the stable communication systems. Tools to identify malign node factors through Wireless Ad-hoc network cause a tremendous error to analyze and use paths of even benign node factors misreported to prove false without testing or indentifying such factors to an adequate level. These things can become an obstacle in the process of creating the optimum network distribution environment. In this regard, this thesis is designed to test and identify paths of benign node factors and then, present techniques to transmit data through the most significant open short path, with the tool of MP-SAR Protocol, security path search provider, in Ad-hoc NCW environment. Such techniques functions to identify and test unnecessary paths of node factors, and thus, such technique users can give an easy access to benign paths of node factors.

  • A reactive-loaded interstitial antenna(RLIA) is proposed for 2.45 GHz. It basically consists of a coaxial cable and a reactive load(RL). The RL is tipped at the end of the antenna and contributes to almost perfect matching and desirable heating area. For the almost perfect matching, a matching technique based on transmission line theory is suggested and the RLIA immersed in muscle phantom is designed, fabricated, measured and compared. The measured return loss of the RLIA is - 28.377 dB, which may be considered the best among those reported. Due to the excellent matching performance, the RLIA can also be applied for the treatment of deep-seated tumor or cancer with only one RLIA.

  • New ten N-[1-(benzotriazol-1-yl)alkyl]aniline(4) derivatives were synthesized and the crystal structure of 4h was shown by X-ray crystallography and the absolute configuration has been assigned as S form. The molecule crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group $P2_{1}/n$. And the molecules in the crystal are linked with each other through the hydrogen bond $(N_{11}-H_{11}{\cdots}N3)$ with distance $2.300(11){\AA}$ The fungicidal activity($pI_{50}$) in-vitro against Botrytis cineria (BC), Phytophthora casici (PC) and Sclerotium cepinorum (SC) were determined by the agar dilution method. The structure activity ralationships (SAR) between structure of 4 and the activity were studied using a physicochemical parameters of substituents and multiple regression technique. Among these compounds, only the bromo group substituent(4f) showed higher activity, which depend on the hydrophobic(${\pi}$) of substituents. The relative orders of the activity are SC>BC> and PC, respectively. This implies that the activity is affected by the hydrophobic(${\pi}$) nature of the Z group rather than the X group. Linear free energy relationships(LFER) on the fungicidal activity with substituents has been also discussed.

  • This article aims to turn out the authentication of archaeological materials by using the paleodose measurement to fine sand-size quartz grains obtained by micro sampling technique. We firstly revealed the validity of micro sampling technique from the paleodoses of two bricks related to Muryong Royal Tomb of Baekje Kingdom. For the purpose of authentication test, four archaeological materials were selected, because they have been insisted that they were manufactured in Goguryeo Kingdom era. After obtaining very few quartz grains by micro sampling technique, each paleodose was evaluated by using SGR (single grain regenerative dose method). All values were very low below 0.2Gy and the reliability was found from those values by using SAR (single aliquot regenerative dose method). Considering the archaeological situation and the general paleodose, the burial time for 1,000 years generally corresponds to about 3.5Gy in Korea, it is concluded that these archaeological materials are all modern counterfeits.

  • Preliminary results are reported on ship detection using coherence images computed from cross-correlating images of multi-look-processed dual-polarization data (HH and HV) of ENVISAT ASAR. The traditional techniques of ship detection by radars such as CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) rely on the amplitude data, and therefore the detection tends to become difficult when the amplitudes of ships images are at similar level as the mean amplitude of surrounding sea clutter. The proposed method utilizes the property that the multi-look images of ships are correlated with each other. Because the inter-look images of sea surface are covered by uncorrelated speckle, cross-correlation of multi-look images yields the different degrees of coherence between the images and water. The polarimetric information of ships, land and intertidal zone are first compared based on the cross-correlation between HH and HV. In the next step, we examine the technique when the dual-polarization data are split into two multi-look Images.
