  • This paper is focused on the buckling and post buckling behaviour of rectangular corrugated board panels simply supported and subjected to compression load. The aim of the work is to understand the failure mechanism of investigated structure in order to quantify the effect of design parameters on the strength of a panel of given geometry. Two numerical models were developed adopting the finite element method. In the first one the corrugated board is represented by means of shell elements adopting an equivalent material, in the second the local structure is described in full detail modelling both straight and corrugated layers by means of shell elements and representing the connection between layers by special interface elements. The model correctness was checked by the comparison between out of plane central displacement predicted by the models and the experimental values found in literature. For the same case the effect of panel planarity error was evaluated. Finally a parametric analysis to investigate the effect of design parameters was carried out.

  • The study aims to investigate factors that determine dividend payout policy using 336 non-financial firm year observations covering the period 2005 to 2016 in Malaysia. We found a significant positive relationship between corporate board size, board members average age, board tenure and dividend payout policy. We also found a strong negative effect and statistically insignificant relationship of board diversity, board independence, CEO duality and dividend payout policy. Additional, financial leverage has a negative effect on dividend payout policy. It is also noticed that firms with diverse boards are more likely to pay dividends and tend to pay larger dividends than those with non-diverse boards. Our results suggest that board diversity has a significant impact on dividend payout policy. Impact of board diversity on dividend payout policy is particularly conspicuous for firms with potentially greater agency problems. Our findings are consistent with the argument that corporate board traits enhancement positively affect the dividend payout policy which is beneficial for shareholders. This study offers useful insights into the current global debate on board traits and its implications for firms. The dividend payout policy signals good news to investors. Corporate board traits and firm's financial decision are the factors that disrupt the dividend decision.

  • As oil price and demand for environment friendly vehicle rapidly increase, research on electric car is being widely carried out. Especially, NEV(Neighborhood Electric Vehicle) is a pollution-free vehicle that can be mass-produced which the time of development for related technologies is urgently needed. In this paper the On-Board charger for mid- and large- sized secondary cell is applicable in aerospace and other general industries, and the Off-Board standing charger is expected to be employed in creating charging infrastructure.

  • When manufacturing beam by laminating particleboards, the mechanical properties of particleboad-laminated beam would be also improved if the properties, especially mechanical properties of particleboad be reinforced. In this study, steel wires were used to reinforce particleboard. This study was carried out to obtain the basic mechanical properties of the board composed of wood particle and steel wires, focusing on bending strength which is the important factors in laminated beam and it was tried to estimate the relationship between the properties of the particleboard-laminated beam. and the proportion of steel wires to wood particles in particleboards. The result obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. The more steel wires used in boards, the higher value of modulus of rupture in bending was obtained, For example. the density 5 board composed of 14 numbers of steel wires showing 55% improved value than control board. 2. The board with lower density was also made better in higher value of elasticity, the density 0.5 board with 14 numbers of steel wires improved by 170%, the density 0.6 board by 86%, the 0.7 board by 37% and the 0.8 board by 26%. 3. The work to maximum load was improved with more steel wires. for example, the density 0.8 board with 14 numbers of steel wires improved by 31%.

  • This study serves as basic research for the development of a new wood-based building finishing material that improved the weakness of inorganic materials such as gypsum board and magnesium board widely used as interior finishing materials and brought out the strength of the wood. The results of evaluating the physical and mechanical properties and the environmental effect related to hazardous substance discharge having manufactured a wood-magnesium laminated composite are as follows. The thermal conductivity and thermal resistance of WML board was improved by about 28~109 percent over magnesium board due to the low thermal conductivity of wood. The adhesive strength of WML board showed a similar result to that of plywood as it exceeds 0.7N/㎟, the adhesive standard of wood veneer which is presented by KS F 3101. Bending strength and screw holding strength were more improved by manufacturing WML board than magnesium board. The WML board manufactured in this study satisfied the criteria for emissions of hazardous substances prescribed in the Indoor Air Quality Control Act, and confirmed the possibility of development as a new wood-based composite material that can replace existing inorganic materials.

  • In this article, we tried to find out the potential of new PVAm (Polyvinylamine) Polymer for optimizing Retention and Drainage system. From the mill experimental in Carton board mill, we could find out PVAm can reduce a significant chemical cost with preserving Drainage. Another case of Newsprint laboratory survey, we could find out the formation benefits from optimizing PAM system to PAM + PVAm dual system.

  • This Study was carried out to investigate the course of air-drying and drying defects of red pine (Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) and Italian poplar (Populus eurameriana I-476) boards 1,2 and 3cm thick in the flat pile. The results are as follows. 1. Air-drying curves for red pine and Italian poplar boards were same as figure 1 and 2. These moisture contents were lower in July and August during seasoning periods. 2. Air drying time of red pine board required to dry 15 percent moisture content in one week for 1 cm board, five weeks for 2 cm board and six weeks for 3cm board respectively. In case of Italian poplar boards, in one week for 1 cm board, four weeks for 2 cm and five weeks for 3 cm board. The thickness of board influenced the time for air drying. 3. Drying defects such as checking, warping and staining happened badly in pine than in Italian poplar boards. Especially, checking was severe in thicker board and warping in thinner board.

  • This paper disscusses about the e-commerce and the various types of e-commerce disputes. Through empirical examination on the dispute consiliation system and by comparative analysis it is derived out of the weakness of current system and finally some suggestions for improvement. First, it is recommended that the more sophisticated knowledge concerning e-commerce should be proliferated through the existing institutions. For example, disputes for B2C could be managed by the consiliation system of consumer dispute consiliation in Consumer Protecion Board of Korea, while B2B by the arbitration system of the Korean Commercial Arbitraion Board. Second, the role of Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce established for the purpose of consiliation of e-commerce disputes is much emphasized. For successful achievement, it is necessarily required to reinforce the related laws, systems, institutions and human resources. Finally, it is also suggested that the the Korean Commercial Arbitraion Board and Consummer Protection Board of Korea fully cover consiliation and arbitration, while Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce activates its proper role of consulting and ad hoc arbitration by using electronic information. The paper points out the last one as the most desired practice.

  • The motion of the otter board on a trawl can affect the motion of trawl nets, and the motion of the codend can affect fish selectivity. Preliminary measurements of the tilt of bottom trawl gear were carried out to compare the tilts of the otter board and codend. The tilt of the otter board was measured by Vector and tilt at 1.5 m anterior to the end of the codend, and the middle upper panel was measured with a micro-DST-tilt logger. Tilt data such as yaw, pitch, and roll were analyzed by the fast Fourier transformation method and global wavelet and event analyses for the period or amplitude. The mean period ${\pm}$ standard deviation of the tilt in the otter board, $(5-6){\pm}2s$, was similar to the period of the codend, $(4-6){\pm}(2-3)s$, whereas the amplitude of the codend was greater than that of the otter board. The yaw and pitch periods were not significantly different between the otter board and codend, but roll was different. Furthermore, the tilt period frequencies of the otter board and codend were not significantly different. Accordingly, the tilt motion of the codend was mostly related to the tilt of the otter board.
