  • The present study was conducted to estimate the effect on fouling reduction in tubes of the condenser. It shows in detail how to calculate the fouling factor from the experimental results of refrigeration systems with or without the automatic cleaning system using sponge balls and to predict the variation of the factor with time. It also represents how to calculate the temperature and pressure decrease of the refrigerant vapor in the condenser and the load decrease of the compressor in the refrigeration system by fouling reduction.

  • 태양광 발전은 일사량이 높을수록 발전량이 증가된다. 그러나 일사량이 높아짐에 따라 셀의 온도도 같이 증가하여 발전효율은 감소하게 된다. 일반적으로 태양광 셀(Cell) 표면의 온도를 $1^{\circ}C$ 감소시키면 약 0.5%의 발전량의 증가가 있다고 알려져 있다. 본 논문은 태양광 발전량 증가를 위해 냉각/세정 장기 실증 실험을 수행하였다. 기전력과 집광량을 높이기 위해 모듈 표면 온도를 낮추고 오염물질을 제거하는 냉각/세정 기술을 이용하였다. 실험 방법은 냉각/세정 설비가 설치된 곳과 설치되지 않은 곳의 이용률을 비교하였다. 장기 실증 시험을 결과 냉각/세정 설비의 구동으로 인한 발전량이 최소 13%에서 최대 19%까지 증가하였다.

Dryness of Mouth: A More Valuable Predisposing Factor of Self-perceived Bad Breath than Mechanical Cleansing in Dental Students

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate a correlation among oral hygiene habits, dryness of mouth, and self-perceived oral malodor and therefore to find out self-care methods which could be a help to reduce oral malodor. Methods: A survey of 296 dental undergraduate students of School of Dentistry, Pusan National University, who wrote consents voluntarily and participated in this study, was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of 17 questions and analyzed to investigate a correlation among oral hygiene habits (frequency of tooth brushing, water gargling, and drinking water, etc.), dryness of mouth indicating the amount of salivary secretion, and self-perceived oral malodor. Results: There was no significant correlation between mechanical cleaning factors and self-perceived oral malodor. The factor showing a strong correlation with severe self-perceived oral malodor was dryness of mouth (p=0.000). Conclusions: There was no correlation between mechanical cleaning habits and self-perceived oral malodor. Participants who felt self-perceived oral malodor more tended to have rather good mechanical cleaning habits. The factor showing a strong correlation with severe self-perceived oral malodor was dryness of mouth. Therefore trying to increase salivary secretion is considered to be a help to reduce self-perceived halitosis.

Water jet 사용시의 구강청결 효과에 관한 임상적 조사연구 (A Clinical Study on Effect of Mouth Cleaning by Use of Water jet)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a guide for selection of oral hygiene devices for nations and establishing valid indication of recently popularized water jet. The author has divided 36 persons into general, orthodontic, periodontal patients according to their oral hygiene state, and then evaluated the degree or decrease in plaque indices and gingival bleeding indices. The obtained results were as follows. 1. When both manual toothbrush and water jet were used together by three kind of patients, significant decreases in plaque index were observed in all patients, after 4 weeks compared with ordinary toothbrushing only(p<0.05). 2. When both oral hygiene devices were used together by three kind of patients, significant decreases in gingival bleeding index were observed in all patients after 4 weeks compared with ordinary toothbrushing only(p<0.05). 3. Singificant differences of the average gingival bleeding index & plaque index among three kind of patients were observed(p<0.05). 4. Therefore, it is concluded that for effective oral hygiene care. water jet can be recommendable to general patients, especially to orthodontic or periodontal patients.

상어 표피 모사 리블렛 구조의 젖음성 평가 (Wettability of Biomimetic Riblet Surface like Sharkskin)

  • Shark skin has functionalities such as self-cleaning and antifouling; it also exhibits excellent drag reduction owing to a hierarchical structure of microgrooves and nanometer-long chain mucus drag reduction interfaces around the shark body. In this study, the wettability of a shark skin surface and its replicas are evaluated. First, a shark skin template is taken from a real shark. Then, shark skin replicas are produced directly from a shark skin template, using a micromolding technique. The quantitative replication precision of the shark skin replicas is evaluated by comparing the geometry of the shark skin template to the replica using 2D surface profiles. Contact angles at the solid-air-water interfaces are evaluated for the shark skin template and its replicas under two conditions: with and without hydrophobic coating. The results show that the microriblets on shark skin improve the hydrophobic feature and play a critical role in self-cleaning.

  • The 21 livestock farms considering future installation of biogas systems were studied. These farms were examined how to raise the livestock, to treat manure, to operate facility with respect to manure characteristics. The 15 farms out of 21 farms have applied to the marine dumping and consignment treatment for treating manure and even farms which have equipped liquid fertilizing system have less capacity facility than legal standards. Characteristics of manure were affected by the scale of swine barn, clean water usage, frequency of cleaning, cleaning method, feces-urine separating method, etc. Retention time in storage (over 20 days) has resulted in lower concentration of organic matter which could reduce biogas production. This indicates that systematic barn management system is required. Inhibition tests showed that disinfectant and citric acid did not affected digestion rates at 10 times higher concentration than recommendation. However hypochlorous acid is likely to affect the anaerobic microbial activity.

  • The wafer's size has been increased up to 300mm according as the devices have been integrated sophisticatedly. For this process to make 300mm-wafer, it is required strict level which removes the particulates on the surface of wafer. Therefore we need new type wet-station which can reduce DI water and chemical in the cleaning process. Moreover, it is very important to control the temperature and the concentration of chemical wet-stat ion. The chemical supply system which is used currently is not only difficult to make a fit mixing rate of chemical in cleaning process, but also it is difficult to make fit quantity and temperature. 연도가스 열회수용 순환유동층 열교환기의 오염저감특성 (Fouling Reduction Characteristics of a Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger for Flue Gas Heat Recovery)

  • Fouling and cleaning tests are performed for a uniquely designed 7,000 ㎉/hr fluidized bed heat exchanger for exhaust gas heat recovery. Fuel rich condition is maintained in the combustor for a limited time period to generate soot that is to be deposited on the heat transfer surfaces (fouling) and 600 Um glass beads are circulated inside the heat exchanger system for cleaning and enhancing the heat transfer performance. According to the present experimental study, performance degradation mode could be monitored and the effect of particle circulation on the heat transfer improvement could be identified. Through the present study, it is demonstrated that circulating particles contribute not only to the fouling reduction in gas side, but also to the heat transfer enhancement of the unit, while other possible aging factors including water side corrosion seemed to contribute to the accumulated performance deterioration.

휴믹산 용액 및 자연수의 한외여과: 제거율, 막오염 및 세척특성 비교 (Ultrafiltration of Humic and Natural Water: Comparison of Contaminants Removal, Membrane Fouling, and Cleaning)

  • 자연산 유기물과 미세 입자는 분리막을 이용한 수처리 공정에서 반드시 제거되어야 하는 주요한 물질이다. 특히 휴믹물질은 막오염을 일으키는 자연산 유기물의 대표적인 물질로 알려져 있어 막여과 정수처리와 관련된 많은 연구에서 정수 원수를 모사하기 위해 이용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 휴믹산 용액과 자연수의 한외여과시 막여과 및 세척 특성을 비교 분석하여 분리막 모듈의 실제 정수 원수 적용시 휴믹산 용액을 이용한 모사수가 가지는 대표성을 검토하고자 하였다. 정수원수의 막투과도는 5 mg/L 휴믹산 용액의 여과와 거의 같은 양상을 보였으나 유기물 및 탁도 제거율 측면에서 차이를 보였다. 용존성 유기물의 제거율은 휴믹산 용액에 비해 자연수의 제거율이 아주 낮으며 자연수 내에 존재하는 유기물은 분리막에 의해 거의 제거되지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 모사수의 제거율이 상대적으로 높게 나타난 이유는 유입수 내 유기물의 분자량 분포와 $UV_{254}$ 및 SUVA 값으로부터 휴믹산 용액 내 유기물의 크기 배제 및 소수성 흡착 때문인 것으로 사료된다. 미세입자 제거의 경우 입자 분포에 있어서 상대적으로 작은 크기의 카올린을 함유한 모사수가 자연수에 비해 한외여과 처리수의 탁도가 더 낮게 나타났다. 이는 입자 크기 자체보다는 입자의 형태가 분리막에 의한 입자 제거에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정된다. 또한 화학세정을 통한 막성능 회복률의 경우 비슷한 막투과도를 보이며 오염을 일으킨 경우에도 모사수가 자연수에 비해 다소 높은 회복률을 보였고, 이 또한 모사수의 한계를 드러낸다고 하겠다.

표면 젖음성을 이용한 물/오일 분리막 제작 (Fabrication of Stable Water/Oil Separation Filter Using Effect of Surface Wettability)

  • The superhydrophobic and superoleophobic meshes surfaces have been used in various applications such as self-cleaning, anti-icing, gas exchange, oil-water separation, sound-wave penetrable anti-wetting structures, etc. In particular, there are many studies for oil-water separation with environmental issues. Because of high pressure and dynamic environment, oil-water separation filters must have stable surface properties as super-hydrophobicity and superoleophobicity. The oleophobicity of surface depends on the surface chemistry and roughness of the surface. The roughness of oleophobic surface enhances its static contact angle and stability. The multi-scale hierarchical structure provides a stable superhydrophobic state by maintaining a Cassie state. In this research, we fabricated a superoleophobic mesh with a multi-scale hierarchical structure to increase the pressure resistance and adjusted a size of the mesh hole.
