Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically for the computation of turbulent flow around a Wigley double model. A second order finite difference method is applied for the spatial discretization on the nonstaggered grid system and 4-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for the numerical integration in time. In order to increase the time step, residual averaging scheme of Jameson is adopted. Pressure field is obtained by solving the pressure-Poisson equation with the appropriate Neumann boundary condition. For the turbulence closure, 0-equation turbulence model of Baldwin-Lomax is used. Numerical computation is carried out for the Reynolds number of 4.5 million. Comparisons of the computed results with the available experimental data show good agreements for the velocity and pressure distributions.

In this study, von Mises stress and total strain energy density characteristics of lead pin in PGA (Pin Grid Array) packages have been calculated by using the FEM (Finite Element Method). FEM computation is carried out with various heat treatment conditions of lead pin material under $20^{\circ}$ bending and 50 mm tension condition. Results show that von Mises stress locally concentrated on lead pin corners and interface between lead pin head and solder. von Mises stress and total strain energy density decrease as heat treatment temperature of lead pin increases. Also, round shaped corner of lead pin decreases both von Mises stress and total strain energy density on interface between lead pin head and solder. This means that PGA package reliability can be improved by changing the mechanical property of lead pin through heat treatment. This has been known that solder fatigue life decreases as total strain energy density of solder increases. Therefore, it is recommended that both optimized lead pin shape and optimized material property with high lead pin heat treatment temperature determine better PGA package reliability.

The fuel rod instability can be occurred because of the axial and cross flow due to the flow anomaly and/or flow redistribution in the lower core plate region of the pressurized water reactor. The fuel rod vibration due to the hydraulic instability is one of the root causes of fuel failure. The verification on the fuel rod vibration and instability is needed for the new fuel assembly design to verify the fuel rod instability. In this study, the fuel rod vibration and stability analyses were performed to investigate the effect of the grid height, fuel rod support condition, and span adjustment on the fuel rod vibration characteristics for the advanced $16{\times}16$ fuel assembly design. Based on the analysis results, the grid height and grid axial elevation of the advanced $16{\times}16$ fuel assembly design were proposed.

We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer. An efficiency of Monte Carlo (MC) docking simulations was examined for the prediction of chiral discrimination by cyclodextrins. Docking simulations were performed with various computational parameters for the chiral discrimination of a series of 17 enantiomers by $\beta$-cyclodextrin ($\beta$-CD) or by 6-amino-6-deoxy-$\beta$-cyclodextrin (am-$\beta$-CD). A total of 30 sets of enantiomeric complexes were tested to find the optimal simulation parameters for accurate predictions. Rigid-body MC docking simulations gave more accurate predictions than flexible docking simulations. The accuracy was also affected by both the simulation temperature and the kind of force field. The prediction rate of chiral preference was improved by as much as 76.7% when rigid-body MC docking simulations were performed at low-temperatures (100 K) with a sugar22 parameter set in the CHARMM force field. Our approach for MC docking simulations suggested that the conformational rigidity of both the host and guest molecule, due to either the low-temperature or rigid-body docking condition, contributed greatly to the prediction of chiral discrimination.

This paper proposes a high-efficiency 3-kW hybrid ESS with emergency power supply. The proposed system enables efficient use of power from photovoltaic (PV) cells and energy storage system (ESS). The proposed system can operate as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) when grid fault occurs, providing seamless transfer from grid-connected mode to stand-alone mode. The LLC converter for PV achieves ZVS turn-on of switches and ZCS turn-off of diodes, and the isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter for ESS achieves ZCS turn-off regardless of load condition, resulting in high efficiency. The efficiency and performance of the proposed hybrid ESS has been verified by a 3-kW prototype.
The present study adopted the PTV method for the velocity acquisition. The system consists of an image grabber built-in a personal computer and a laser-based sheet light projector and particle identification softwares. Velocity vectors are obtained, by PTV and they are used as velocity components for Poisson equation for pressure. Related boundary conditions and no-slip condition at solid wall and the linear velocity extrapolation on the upper side of cavity are well examined for the present study. For calculation of pressure, resolution of grid is basically $40{\times}40$ and 2-dimensional uniform mesh using MAC staggered grid is adopted. The result of experiment reveal that, newly suggested measuring method is capable of estimating pressure and velocity distribution of flow field reasonably.

Time-Marching methods solving Euler equations are used for calculation of two-dimensional, steady, inviscid flow through a stationary compressor cascade. Calculation method is based on the Denton`s opposed difference scheme. A smoothing in the axial direction is used to increase the stability of solution. The computational grid consists of quadrilateral elements, one of which has four nodes at each corner and the grid points on the upper periodic boundaries are located one pitch away from those on the lower boundaries to satisfy the periodicity condition. Results of calculation show good agreement with other computational and experimental results, proving that the present method of calculation should be applied with confidence for the cascade flow with shock wave.

The turbulent free surface flow around a self-propelled KRISO 138K LNG Carrier is numerically simulated using the finite volume based multi-block RANS code, WAVIS developed at HRISO. The realizable k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model with a wail function is employed for the turbulence closure. The free surface is captured with the Level-Set method and body forces are used to model the effects of a propeller without resolving the detail blade flow. In order to obtain an accurate free surface solution and stable convergence, the computations are executed with a proper fine grid refinement around the free surface and with an adoption of implicit discretization scheme for the Level-Set formulation. The computed velocity vectors at the several stations and wave patterns show a good agreement with the experimental results measured at the KRISO towing tank.

To construct seamless collaborative environments, what all participants intent should be delivered, and visual elements such gesture, facial expression, and ambiance should be shared with all participants. In this paper, we propose high-quality video service to support DV(digital video) and HDV(high-definition DV) based on Access Grid(AG) which is a prevalent collaborative system. The proposed service is designed for employing versatile media tools and codecs with SDP(session description protocol) and SAP(session announcement protocol). We also design network-adaptive video transmission module to mitigate the impact of network fluctuation. This periodically monitors multicast performance and controls frame rate on sender side considering network condition. The experimental results over the test bed show that proposed service enhances quality of AG video service and provides seamless high-quality video transport by mitigating the impact of network fluctuation.
