Dielectric Study of Allyl Chloride with 2-Pentanone and 2-Hexanone in Microwave Frequency Range

  • Dielectric measurement on binary mixtures of Allyl chloride (ALC) with 2-Pentanone (2-PE) and 2-Hexanone (2-HE) has been carried out over the entire concentration range using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technique at various temperatures in microwave frequency range of 10 MHz to 10 GHz. The static dielectric constant, excess static dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}^E_S$), effective Kirkwood correlation factor ($g^{eff}$) of binary mixtures over entire concentration range were determined to study the effect of increasing alkyl group of ketones on hetero molecular interaction. It was found that magnitude of excess static dielectric constant of mixtures increases with increase of alky group of ketones. The study reveals that the dipole moment of Allyl chloride in mixture have antiparallelism tendency where as 2-pentanone and 2-hexanone have parallelism tendency. Excess static dielectric constant is also fitted to Redlich-Kister equation to get information about rates of multimers formation.

A Two-Step Screening Algorithm to Solve Linear Error Equations for Blind Identification of Block Codes Based on Binary Galois Field

  • Existing methods for blind identification of linear block codes without a candidate set are mainly built on the Gauss elimination process. However, the fault tolerance will fall short when the intercepted bit error rate (BER) is too high. To address this issue, we apply the reverse algebra approach and propose a novel "two-step-screening" algorithm by solving the linear error equations on the binary Galois field, or GF(2). In the first step, a recursive matrix partition is implemented to solve the system linear error equations where the coefficient matrix is constructed by the full codewords which come from the intercepted noisy bitstream. This process is repeated to derive all those possible parity-checks. In the second step, a check matrix constructed by the intercepted codewords is applied to find the correct parity-checks out of all possible parity-checks solutions. This novel "two-step-screening" algorithm can be used in different codes like Hamming codes, BCH codes, LDPC codes, and quasi-cyclic LDPC codes. The simulation results have shown that it can highly improve the fault tolerance ability compared to the existing Gauss elimination process-based algorithms.

  • An economic and efficient system for measuring drop sizes was developed. Pattern recognition technique was used with conventional oil-bath sampling and photographic method. The system was designed to measure and count relatively large number of drops in a very short time, and also to filter out abnormal images such as drops in contact or overlap as well as odd-shaped foreign materials. In this measuring system, most important error originates from the process of converting the original image to the binary image. If the photograph contains a large number of spray drops, the relative size of the pixel to the drops is not infinitesimally small; thus the proper choice of threshold level to convert the original image to the binary image becomes very important. In present case, most of the images lay in one of the two separate bands of brightness level and the arithmetic mean of the most popular brightness levels from each band was chosen as the threshold level. Present image processing system reduces the subjective error by the observers in counting and measuring drops and turns out to be substantially effective. The processing time can be further reduced by improving the hardware system concerned with the digital image coding.

Square-and-Divide Modular Exponentiation (제곱-나눗셈 모듈러 지수연산법)

  • The performance and practicality of cryptosystem for encryption, decryption, and primality test are primarily determined by the implementation efficiency of the modular exponentiation of $a^b$ (mod m). To compute $a^b$ (mod m), the standard binary squaring (square-and-multiply) still seems to be the best choice. However, in large b bits, the preprocessed n-ary, ($n{\geq}2$ method could be more efficient than binary squaring method. This paper proposes a square-and-divide and unpreprocessed n-ary square-and-divide modular exponentiation method. Results confirmed that the square-and-divide method is the most efficient of trial number in a case where the value of b is adjacent to $2^k+2^{k-1}$ or to. $2^{k+1}$. It was also proved that for b out of the beforementioned range, the unpreprocessed n-ary square-and-divide method yields higher efficiency of trial number than the general preprocessed n-ary method.

  • The singularities of differential Newtonian equation of motion in three body problem cause the loss of accuracy and the considerable increase of the computer time. These singularities could be eliminated during the process of regularization to transform the independent variables and the coordinate of Newtonian equations of motion. In this study, we calculated the positions and velocities of three body along the time scale to find out the unique solution of regularized Newtonian equations of motion with the $5^{th}$ order Runge-Kutta method by assuming the suitable initial velocities and positions. As the results of these calculations it is shown that the tripe stellar system eventually distintegrated, two of them formed a binary, and the last one escaped from this system with a hyperbolic orbit. This may suggest one possible explanation for the binary formation.

  • In this paper, a new interference-free Home CDMA-PLC(Code Division Multiple Access-Power Line Communication) system based on the binary ZCD(Zero Correlation Duration) spreading code is proposed as a key solution to overcome the previous problems. Binary ZCD spreading code sets with enlarged family sizes are generated by carrying out a chip-shift operation of the preferred pairs. The properties or the proposed ZCD-PLC systems are effective for MPI(Multi-Path Interference) and MAI (Multiple Access Interference) cancellation in the CDMA-PLC systems. By BER performance simulation, we certified the availability of proposed ZCD-CDMA-PLC system.

Influence of blending method with different SR on unburned carbon and NOx emission and its application

  • The influence of coal blending methods such as out-furnace (external or pre-mixed) blending and in-furnace (initially non-mixed) blending with different excess oxygen (highest, medium, and lowest stoichiometric conditions) on unburned carbon and NOx emissions of blend combustion in an entrained flow reactor (EFR) has been analyzed, using experimental and numerical approaches for binary coals used by Korean power plants. The results confirm that under the medium condition, contrasting processes such as reactive and un-reactive effects occur with SBRs in the out-furnace blending method. The in-furnace blending method results in an improvement in the efficiency of unburned carbon fractions and a further reduction in the NOx emission. Under the highest condition, the unburned carbon fraction in both the out-furnace and the in-furnace blending methods corresponds with the tendency under the medium condition with contrasting processes of lower magnitude, whereas the NOx emission in the highest condition increases slightly. Under the lowest conditions, the unburned carbon fraction in the out-furnace blending method gradually decreases as SBR decreases, without a competition effect. The reduction of NOx emission under the lowest conditions is more effective than those under other conditions for the two blending methods because of a homogeneous and heterogeneous NOx reduction mechanism.

  • This study was carried out as a basic experiment for development of adsorption process in which benzene and toluene was adsorbed on activated carbon. In the static adsorption experiment, Adsorption character of benzene and toluene was studied by change of temperature and pressure. Activated carbon 12~20mesh and activated carbon 20~40mesh was used as adsorbents, Benzene, toluene and nitrogen as adsorbates. Experimental data were obtained to fitted to Langmuir isotherm and dependence was acquired. Parameters of adsorption heat and adsorption constant was obtained. Static adsorption experiment for binary mixtures confirmed that Langmuir isotherm parameters could be applicable to Extended Langmuir isotherm. Experimental technique used in this study only requires pressure measurement and this technique is different from the conventional method which measures gas mole compositions before adsorption and after adsorption. The dynamic adsorption experiment was carried out and the experimental results was compared with the computer simulation results. In this study, basic data was acquired to decide adsorption conditions in the process.

A Set-theoretic Account of English Crossover Effects

  • In English, whether or not wh-movement creates weak crossover effects depends upon the type of wh-phrases that cross over. A bare interrogative like who shows a typical weak crossover effect whereas which N type (e.g. which girl) and partitive type (e.g. which of these girls) wh-phrases would show mere weaker and weakest crossover effects, respectively. Previous approaches to English crossover phenomena that resort to a binary notion of specificity or D-linking cannot account for the three-way contrast the three different types of wh-phrases show. To overcome this problem, I argue in this paper that specificity should be a non-binary set-theoretic notion and propose the following subset principle and optimal binding relation: Between two lexical nominal expressions A and B, A is regarded as more specific than B iff the denotation of A comes from a more narrowly defined non-singleton set than B. Between two lexical nominal expressions A and B, if A locally binds B, then the non-singleton set from which the denotation of A comes should be a subset of the set from which the denotation of B comes (i.e. B cannot be more specific than A). The smaller the subset (i.e. the wider the specificity gap between binder and binder), the more optimal the local binding relation is. A locally binds B iff A is coindexed with B, and A c-commands B, and there is no such C that does not bind A but binds B. Finally, I show that partitivity functions to carve out a smaller subset and thus make partitive wh-phrases more specific than simple which N type wh-phrases.

  • Using a reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography, the separation of 20(S)-, 20(R)-prosapogenin stereo-isomers of ginsenoside-$Rg_2$ and of ginsenoside-$Rg_3$ in ginseng saponins has been carried out with binary solvent system. The optimum conditions for the isomer separation are as following: Nova-$Pak^{(R)}C_{18}$ (Waters, $3.9{\times}150mm$) column, $CH_3CN/CH_3CN$ (100:8, v/v) binary solvent system and the flow rate was 1.7 mL/min. The stereoisomers were separated with change of the mixture ratio of the solvent system, the solvent elution by gradient program, and then detected at 203 nm of UV detector. The simultaneous separation of mixture that were the $Rg_2$, $Rg_3$ isomers was easily performed in nonpolar solvent for $Rg_2$, polar solvent for $Rg_3$ at the same optimum conditions.
