This study aims the development of a semi-analytic method for the parametric roll of large containerships advancing in longitudinal waves. A 1.5 Degree-of-Freedom(DOF) model is proposed to account the change of transverse stability induced by wave elevations and vertical motions (heave and pitch). By approximating the nonlinearity of restoring moment at large heel angles, the magnitude of roll amplitude is predicted as well as susceptibility check for parametric roll occurrence. In order to increase the accuracy of the prediction, the relationship between righting arm(GZ) and metacentric height(GM) is examined in the presence of incident waves, and then a new formula is proposed. Based on the linear approximation of the mean and first harmonic component of GM, the equation of parametric roll in irregular wave excitations is introduced, and the computational results of the proposed model are validated by comparing those of weakly nonlinear simulation based on an impulse-response-function method combined with strip theory. The present semi-analytic doesn’ t require heavy computational effort, so that it is very efficient particularly when numerous sea conditions for the analysis of parametric roll should be considered.

In recent years, digital processing techniques have been applied diversity of fields. Typical signal processing techniques are speech processing and image processing. And filters for the signal processing can be divided in FIR (finite impulse response) filter and IIR (infinite impulse response) filter. Compared with IIR filter, the FIR Filter has a defect of high-degree, but has a merit of stability and uses simply. Futhermore, FIR filter also has linear phase response characteristics, it is using in fields regarding wave information importantly. To FIR Filter design, the main issue is to remove the Gibbs phenomenon. Therefore, in this paper I was proposed a method using FIR digital filter applied a modified window function and the method was compared with conventional methods.

Output-only modal parameter identification is based on the assumption that external forces on a linear structure are white noise. However, harmonic excitations are also often present in real structural vibrations. In particular, it has been realized that the use of forced acceleration responses without knowledge of external forces can pose a problem in the modal parameter identification, because an external force is imparted to its impulse acceleration response function. This paper provides a three-stage identification procedure as a solution to the problem of harmonic and white noise excitations in the acceleration responses of a linear dynamic system. This procedure combines the uses of the mode indicator function, the complex mode indication function, the enhanced frequency response function, an iterative rational fraction polynomial method and mode shape inspection for the correlation-related functions of the force-embedded acceleration responses. The procedure is verified via numerical simulation of a five-floor shear building and a two-dimensional frame and also applied to ambient vibration data of a large-span roof structure. Results show that the modal parameters of these dynamic systems can be satisfactorily identified under the requirement of wide separation between vibration modes and harmonic excitations.
Adaptive digital filters with long impulse response such as acoustic echo canceller and active noise controller suffer from slow convergence and computational burden. Subband techniques and multirate signal processing have been recently developed to improve the problem of computational complexity and slow convergence in conventional adaptive filter. Any FIR transfer function can be realized as a serial connection of interpolators followed by subfilters with a sparse impulse response. In this case, each interpolator which is related to the column vector of Hadamard matrix has band-pass magnitude response characteristics shifted uniformly. Subband technique using Hadamard transform and decimation of subband signal to reduce sampling rate are adapted to system modeling and acoustic noise cancellation In this paper, delayless subband structure with nonuniform bandwidth has been proposed to improve the performance of the convergence speed without aliasing due to decimation, where input signal is split into subband one using tree-structured filter bank, and the subband signal is decimated by a decimator to reduce the sampling rate in each channel, then subfilter with sparse impulse response is transformed to full band adaptive filter coefficient using Hadamard transform. It is shown by computer simulations that the proposed method can be adapted to general adaptive filtering.

Echo generated in digital hearing aid vent give rise to user's discomfort. For cancelling feedback echo in vent, it is required to estimate vent impulse response exactly. The vent impulse response has time varying and sparse characteristics. The IPNLMS has been known a useful adaptive algorithm to estimate vent impulse response with these characteristics. In this paper, subband sparse adaptive filter which applying IPNLMS to subband hearing aid structure is proposed to cancel echo of vent by estimating sparse vent impulse response. In the propose method, the decomposition of input signal to subband can pre-whiten each subband signal, so adaptive filter convergence speed can be improved. And the poly phase component decomposition of adaptive filter increases sparsity of each components, and the better echo cancellation can be possible without additional computation. To derive coefficients update equation of the adaptive filter, by defining the cost function based weight NLMS is defined, and the coefficient update equation of each subband is derived. For verifying performances of the adaptive filter, convergence speed, and steady state error by white signal input, and echo cancelling results by real speech input are evaluated by comparing conventional adaptive filters.
The object of this paper is to investigate the influence of antenna pattern on indoor radio channel characteristics. Different from previous works where this analysis was carried out at a fixed frequency using different antennas, in the present paper (where measurements were taken in a wide frequency range) the variation of the radiation pattern was caused by two factors: the change of the radiation pattern when the same antenna was used at different frequenicies and the use of different type of antennas. To carry out this analysis, frequency domain measurements of the indoor radio channel at 1 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 10 GHz and 18 GHz were collected. Measurements were taken using a network analyzer. Serveral re-alizations of the channel transfer function were obtained varying, for each measurement, the positon of the transmitter and keep-ing the receiver fixed. Estimate of the channel impulse response was obtained from the Inverse Fourier Transform (IFT) of the fre-quency response. The measurements were performed in an office enviroment with mostly metallic walls and inner separations. The obtained data were elaborated to obtain the power versus distance relationship, the Cummulative Distribution Functions(CDFs) of rms Delay Spread(DS) and of the 3 dB frequency correlation band-width. Finally, the 3 dB width of the frequency correlation func-tion has been empirically related to the inverse of the rms DS of the impulse response.
We examined household's food expenditures in this study. The empirical work outlined here used quarterly data from 2003 Q1 to 2010 Q3. All variables are in log form and were obtained from the Korea National Statistical Office. The food items included cereals, dairy products, fruits, meat, vegetables, and alcoholic beverages. We applied the ordinary least squares method to a model consisting of household income and seasonal dummies. This is because household expenditures are ordinarily a function of income and have seasonal characteristics. The household's food consumption patterns also reflect the prevailing social and environmental circumstances. This study showed that the income coefficients of cereals, meat, dairy products, and alcoholic beverages tend to increase in the long-run, whereas those of vegetables and fruits decreased. The results also revealed that consumption of alcoholic beverages and meat was greatly affected by household income fluctuations, whereas those of vegetables and dairy products were not sensitive to income. The impulse response functions indicated that expenditures not only increased slowly before peaking one to eight quarters after the income shock but declined very slowly to pre-shock levels. The response of dairy products at the twelfth step was three times as large as that of the first step.

A three-dimensional time-domain calculation method is of crucial importance in prediction of the motions and wave loads of a ship advancing in a severe irregular sea. The exact solution of the free surface wave-ship interaction problem is very complicated because of the essentially nonlinear boundary conditions. In this paper, an approximate body nonlinear approach based on the three-dimensional time-domain forward-speed free-surface Green function has been presented. The Froude-Krylov force and the hydrostatic restoring force are calculated over the instantaneous wetted surface of the ship while the forces due to the radiation and scattering potentials over the mean wetted surface. The time-domain radiation and scattering potentials have been obtained from a time invariant kernel of integral equations for the potentials which are discretized according to the second-order boundary element method (Hong and Hong 2008). The diffraction impulse-response functions of the Wigley seakeeping model advancing in transient head waves at various Froude numbers have been presented. A simulation of coupled heave-pitch motion of a long rectangular barge advancing in regular head waves of large amplitude has been carried out. Comparisons between the linear and the approximate body nonlinear numerical results of motions and wave loads of the barge at a nonzero Froude number have been made.
For scaling of the gradient of misfit function, we develop a new pseudo-Hessian matrix constructed by combining amplitude field and pseudo-Hessian matrix. Since pseudo- Hessian matrix neglects the calculation of the zero-lag auto-correlation of impulse responses in the approximate Hessian matrix, the pseudo-Hessian matrix has a limitation to scale the gradient of misfit function compared to the approximate Hessian matrix. To validate the new pseudo- Hessian matrix, we perform frequency-domain elastic full waveform inversion using this Hessian matrix. By synthetic experiments, we show that the new pseudo-Hessian matrix can give better convergence to the true model than the old one does. Furthermore, since the amplitude fields are intrinsically obtained in forward modeling procedure, we do not have to pay any extra cost to compute the new pseudo-Hessian. We think that the new pseudo-Hessian matrix can be used as an alternative of the approximate Hessian matrix of the Gauss-Newton method.
We examine the information transmission between the KT Spot and the KT Futures Index, the SK Telecom Spot and the SK Telecom Futures Index, based on the returns data offered by the Korea Exchange. The data includes daily return data from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2014. Utilizing a dynamic analytical tool-the VAR model, Granger Causality test, Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition have been implemented. The results of the analysis are as follows. Firstly, results of Granger Causality test suggests the existence of mutual causality the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index precede and have explanatory power the KT Spot and the SK Telecom Spot However the results also identified a greater causality and explanatory power of the KT Spot and the SK Telecom Spot over the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. Secondly, the results of impulse response function suggest that the KT Futures Index show immediate response to the KT Spot and are influenced by till time 4. From time 2, the impact gradually disappears. Also the SKT Futures Index show immediate response to the SKT Spot and are influenced by till time 4. From time 2, the impact gradually disappears. Lastly, the variance decomposition analysis shows that the changes of return of the KT Spot and SKT Spot are dependent on those of the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. This implies that returns on the KT Spot and SKT Spot have a significant influence over returns on the KT Futures Index and the SK Telecom Futures Index. It contributes to the understanding of market price formation function through analysis of detached the KT Spot and the KT Futures Index, the SK Telecom Spot and the SK Telecom Futures Index.
