  • This study alms to suggest a new personnel system(classification of public position) for librarianship in Korea. In order to achieve this goal, the five alternative plans are analysed with respect to the grounds of an argument, merits and demerits, and its realization. In conclusion, the 'record culture group' or record information group'(tentative name), that is, a single group brought together librarian, curator, and archivist is the best alternative to establish a professional identity and social status of librarian in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to seek sustainable development plans in which academic libraries comply with copyright laws without withdrawing their information services by focusing on the changes of the relevant regulations since 2000 when copyright laws were revised. The study deals with the followings in detail. First, the issues with library information services is examined, owing to the enactment, revision, and execution of copyright laws. Second, the histories of enacting and amending copyright laws related to libraries are considered. Third, various opinions and response measures as to applying the copyright laws to libraries are analyzed. Forth, based on the previous analysis, the study suggests response strategies that academic libraries accept for copyright laws and keep improving library information services.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of a nursing intervention using sensory stimulation in dysphagic patients. Quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. 15 patients of each group were assigned for this study, who were hospitalized in the oriental medicine hospital of K. University. Specific stimulation plans were devised based on a dysfunctional area of the subjects. For each modality, subjects were systematically stimulated for 30 minutes, in the experimental group prior to each meal and 3 times per day for a week. The data were analyzed by SPSS PC program using $X^2$-test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. The results of this study are as follows : 1. The tongue control score of the experimental group is greater than that of the control group(u=52.0, p=.007). 2. The score of chewing ability, lip control, swallowing ability of the experimental group is greater than that of the control group. But no difference is statistically seen between the experimental group and control group. Therefore, this study shows that sensory stimulation using icing, quick stretch, etc., was effective in improving or oropharyngeal function in patients with dysphagia.

  • The shuttle that currently connects Busan New Port to the logistics companies in the Hinterland has the following companies: first, resources are consumed redundantly as each logistics company has independent transport vehicles. Second, the companies are not taking advantage of geographical merits of clustered complexes because different vehicles are used each time due to irregular schedules. In this respect, this study had the following purposes to realize these solutions: first, heuristic approach was made for operation scheduling and real-time operating rules to configure the best possible dynamic plan. Second, the reduction of consumption of resources with the shuttle and the efficiency were examined through a simulation of pooling and dual cycling applied to logistics companies' shipping plans.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the Perception of local government officials, who are in charge of The Rural Village Development Project, and planners of local planning firms and Rural Research Institute participating the rural development planning and landscape planning, regarding the problems and improvements for rural landscape management. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. First, the majority of the subject were negative of creating rural landscape and its management. Both groups thought the living landscape was the most problematic. Second, the satisfaction about the rural landscape planning conducted through the Rural Village Development Project was very low. Nevertheless, it is considered that the rural landscape planning will be needed further. Third, the experience of conducting the rural landscape plans is not sufficient enough, which will cause tremendous confusion in the rural landscape administration in the future. Fourth, both groups believed that the rural landscape project will be most effective, while the landscape agreement is least effective. Finally, both groups agreed that strengthening the support for the landscape activities of residents is the most important way improving the further rural landscape management.

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the efficiency of library space usage through analyzing users' behavior in an academic library. Diary methodology was applied for collecting users' activities in the library. 108 students participated in this study, but 84 students submitted their diaries. Among them, 14 participants were interviewed to identify barriers and their needs in using the library. The findings suggest rearranging IT devices to increase use rate of those devices, making plans for reusing the space where it is rarely used, and improving the accessibility of information through browsing in the bookstack area. Additionally, time analysis of users' activities was used to analyze students' behavior in the library.

  • It is very important for libraries to provide their patrons with spaces that are used comfortably. In this paper, first we propose some improvement plans for space organizations of Gwacheon Public Library based on its patrons' behavioral research. It has a big meaning from the view of library marketing, which aims at improving patrons' satisfaction. Then we investigate how study tables are used based on the data taken at Kyushu University Library in Japan. Finally we put some proposals on libraries' space organization based on these investigations.

  • This paper presents an approach to the measurement of efficiency which is trunk route of global liners. Data envelopment analysis(DEA), as it is called, has particular applicability in the service sector. Applying mathematical programming techniques, DEA enables relative efficiency ratings to be derived within a set of analysed units(Iine services). This paper investigates the efficiency employing DEA Model of line services classified into routes( ex. America-asia line, Europe-asia line, Pendulum line etc). Results of this paper, suggests to some plans for improving the performance in the side of operating global liners.

  • This study was aimed at developing eco-STEAM educational programs based on smart learning, implementing the programs to verify their educational effectiveness, and exploring the possibilities for eco-education. The subjects of Science, Mathematics, Practical Arts, Arts, and Physical Education were analyzed to extract STEAM elements for the 5th and 6th grades at elementary school, and then 16 lessen plans were developed under 8 thematic strands. The programs were applied to classes of 5th and 6th graders, and then tested to see the effectiveness in terms of emotional experience, convergence, creative design and satisfaction. The average scores for post-test were statistically higher than those of pre-test(p<.001), showing positive effectiveness of the eco-STEAM programs developed. This study put out the following conclusions. First, the students got emotional experiences through inquiry and observation. Second, the programs helped students to learn about the environment in their contexts and provided a base for interdisciplinary approach. Third, the students in this study could have opportunities for improving their problem-solving abilities by using the creative design. Forth, the students' interests in the ecological topics were increased throughout regular curricula.

  • This study explores the impact of a STEM integration teacher professional development program focusing on teachers' perception of engineering and their attitudes toward integrating engineering into teaching. A total of sixty-eight teachers from ten schools participated in the program for five days. Data are collected from three main sources including (1) pre and post concept maps probing teachers' perceptions about the engineering discipline, (2) a pre and post survey measuring teachers' self-efficacy of teaching science/mathematics within the engineering context, and (3) engineering integrated science and (or) mathematics lesson plans and teaching reflections. This study utilizes both qualitative and quantitative research methods depending on the data we have collected. The results show that both science and math teachers thought that integrating engineering into teaching provided valuable outcomes, i.e., promoting students' learning about engineering and improving their interest in science or math through real-world problem solving exercises. Participants also felt more comfortable about integrating engineering in their teaching after the program. The results also imply that the teachers' understandings of engineering become more concrete after the program. This study also provides an overview of the challenges and advantages of teaching engineering in K-12 science and mathematics classrooms.
