  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of mathematical activities with online mathematical contents on children's arithmetic development and attitudes toward mathematical activities. Pre- and post-tests were administered to 62 5-year-old children. Differences of children's arithmetic development level and attitudes toward mathematical activities were found between the experimental group using online mathematical contents and the control group using offline mathematical contents. All findings proved that online mathematical contents were effective and had positive influences on children's arithmetic development and attitudes toward mathematical activities. This supports the proposition that online mathematical contents can provide an important means to the improvement of children's mathematical development and attitudes toward mathematical activities.

  • This study is to find a way that improves the pedestrian environment in the main street in rural areas. The main streets of five local governments in Jeollanam-do, general towns and bases seat of a myeon office, were studied. The research results are as follows. First, all three groups under investigation required multi-purpose activities on main street. This is thought to be due to the maintenance of the main street with vehicle-centered maintenance, thereby revising the walking space around essential activities. Second, the simple size of the sidewalk width is not closely related to the safety of pedestrians, and it is judged that the pedestrian space should be maintained considering the size of the floating population, acceptable activities, and proper sidewalk width. Third, the center where pedestrian space and streetscape are maintained has spatial constraints on sidewalks and lanes, so there should be spatial flexibility. Also, it is necessary to find a way to minimize the occupancy of pedestrian roads due to ground parking lots in relation to pedestrian continuity. Fourth, improvement of walking environment should involve community activities other than physical improvement.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the creative hands-on activities using EM (effective microorganisms) that can enhance the environmental literacy of learners, and to examine the effect of its application. The program was composed of 10 sessions, including biological knowledge and ecosystem status of microorganisms, practical activities that stimulate the environmental behavior and emotion of elementary school students, and career design related to their aptitude and occupation in future. This program can also be connected to the domains of creative hands-on activities, that is, career activities, club activities, self-regulated activities and voluntary service activities. In this study, two classes of 3th grades of elementary school in Seoul were selected and divided into two groups. The experimental group to undergo the program of creative hands-on activities using EM showed higher environmental literacy than the control group. In the concrete, it is proven that this program contributed to the improvement of learners' environmental emotion, skill, and behavior. When interviewed with experimental group, we found that sustained EM hands-on activities were conducted in collaboration with their families, and they became more aware of the utilities of EM and could participate in the activities more interestingly. In conclusion, the creative hands-on activities program was very effective and helped elementary students to change their environmental literacy in positive ways.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of records for reading activities in high schools and to make a suggestion for improvement of reading activities records. Data for 120 high school students were collected and analyzed for this study. This study showed negative response results in terms of the satisfaction of the 'reading activity situation' record, the necessity of the reading activity record, and the method of recording the reading activity. It is, however, necessary to improve the current recording method to invigorate high school students' reading activities. Since it is not easy to identify students' development in reading by the titles which they provides for the reading activity records, a variety of reading activities need to be recorded for understanding students' development process and interaction activities with teachers. It is expected that the findings in this study will be significant data to improve evaluation methods of reading activities for college admission and to cultivate proper reading culture in high schools.

The subjects of this study were 256 elementary school students. The cooking activity group and control group were consisted of 128 students of $3^{rd}$ & $5^{th}$ grader each. Both cooking activity and the control group took the same 1-hour nutritional theory based class for 10 sessions. Only Cooking activity (CA) group took additional 10 sessions of 1-hour cooking class. Programs for cooking activity were developed and 10 cooking activity sessions were taken place for 4 months. The questionnairs were used to evaluate the effect of the cooking activities over the intake of food group, unbalanced dietary behavior, eating attitudes, menu acceptance before and after the completion of all the cooking activities. Cooking activities affect the unbalanced dietary behaviors and the intake of food groups. Fish, cereals, milk products, fruits, potatoes, vegetables were more eaten by CA group than control group. Eating attitudes and unbalanced dietary behaviors of CA group are also improved significantly than control group. From these results, it was concluded that cooking activities had the positive effect on the improvement of unbalanced dietary food habits over vegetables, cereals, fish, milk product and fruits as well as the unbalanced dietary behaviors of the elementary school children.
