This study is designed to find out how the recognition of the listener's role affects listening in Korean language learning. We assumed that recognizing the role of the listener can focus on important information. To confirm our assumption, we conducted an experiment on 37 Koreans and 32 KSLs. Koreans and KSLs were divided into two groups depending on whether or not they recognize the role of the listener. The results showed that Koreans and KSLs who recognized the role of the listener were better at listening to important information, and Koreans who recognized the role of the listener were better at judging important information. This study suggests that the role of listeners as context apply to Korean listening education.
With the confirmation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and as cheap foreign agricultural products are beginning to be freely distributed in Korea, the government has taken a greater interest in securing the competitiveness of domestic agriculture. Accordingly, the Korean government has presented plans to advance the interests of 'small but strong farmers' and secure their competitiveness in line with the agricultural conditions in Korea. The government also announced that it will focus on leading these efforts in rural areas. The main thrust of this plan to support 'small but strong farmers' focuses onutilizing advanced peripheral technologies such as IT and BT; however, there are only a few Information Management Division centers currentlyoperating across the nation, and these are mainly in the IT-related divisions of the Agricultural Research and Extension Services and Agricultural Technology Centers. Therefore, in this study, we used the responses from a survey of farmers to identify regional differences in informatization levels and the digital divide among 'small but strong farmers' according to the presence or absence of an Information Management Division center. As a result, we found that the 'small but strong farmers' in regions with an active Information Management Division center received more IT services and had a higher level of informatization. Thus, to increase the use of IT-related peripheral technology by these 'small but strong farmers', it is important to maintain or increase the number of Information Management Division centers.
IT education can be summarized as persuading the educatee to accept IT. The persuasion is made by delivering the messages for how-to-use and where-to-use to the educatee, which leads formulation of a belief structure for using IT. Therefore, message based persuasion theory, as well as IT acceptance theories such as technology acceptance model(TAM), would play a very important role for explaining IT education. According to elaboration likelihood model(ELM) that has been considered as one of the most influential persuasion theories, people change attitude or perception by two routes, central route and peripheral route. In central route, people would think critically about issue-related arguments in an informational message. In peripheral route, subjects rely on cues regarding the target behavior with less cognitive efforts. Moreover, such persuasion process is not a one-shot program but continuous repetition with feedbacks, which leads to changing a belief structure for using IT. An educatee would get more knowledge and experiences of using IT as following an education program, and be more dependent on a central route than a peripheral route. Such change would reformulate a belief structure which is different from the intial one. The objectives of this study are the following two: First, an identification of the relationship between ELM and belief structures for using IT. Especially, we analyze the effects of message interpretation through both of central and peripheral routes on perceived usefulness which is an important explaining variable in TAM and perceived use control which have perceived ease of use and perceived controllability as sub-dimensions. Second, a longitudinal analysis of the above effects. In other words, change of the relationship between interpretation of message delivered by IT education and beliefs of IT using is analyzed longitudinally. For achievement of our objectives, we suggest a research model, which is constructed as three-layered. While first layer has a dependent variable, use intention, second one has perceived usefulness and perceived use control that has two sub-concepts, perceived ease of use and perceived controllability. Finally, third one is related with two routes in ELM, source credibility and argument quality which are operationalization of peripheral route and central route respectively. By these variables, we suggest five hypotheses. In addition to relationship among variables, we suggest two additional hypotheses, moderation effects of time in the relationships between perceived usefulness and two routes. That is, source credibility's influence on perceived usefulness is decreased as time flows, and argument quality's influence is increased. For validation of it, our research model is tested empirically. With measurements which have been validated in the other studies, we survey students in an Excel class two times for longitudinal analysis. Data Analysis is done by partial least square(PLS), which is known as an appropriate approach for multi-group comparison analysis with a small sized sample as like this study. In result. all hypotheses are statistically supported. One of theoretical contributions in this study is an analysis of IT education based on ELM and TAM which are considered as important theories in psychology and IS theories respectively. A longitudinal analysis by comparison between two surveys based on PLS is also considered as a methodological contribution. In practice, finding the importance of peripheral route in early stage of IT education should be notable.
This article aims to provide information necessary for the measurement and analysis of human vibration, especially hand-arm vibration. The major health problems associated with the use of powered hand tools are the signs and symptoms of peripheral vascular and peripheral neural disorders of the fingers and hands. To prevent these problems, it is the first and the most important to measure the amount of the vibration transmitted to the upper extremities, and analyze its characteristics against the exposure limits such as ISO standards. In our country, however, very few studies have been done on the hand-arm vibration. One of the possible reasons might be lack of knowledge for the measurement and analysis schemes. The information introduced in this article would hopefully be of help for the upcoming studies.
Contrary to the popular view that dative is idiosyncratic to verbs or particular theta roles, the distribution of dative is predictable from the distribution of other cases like nominative, accusative, instrumental, etc. That is, dative behaves like an unmarked or elsewhere choice for Non-Actor/Non-Patient (=NANP) roles. This paper develops a theory of semantic structural case under the framework of conceptual semantics (Jackendoff 1983, 1990, 1997, 2002). In my proposed analysis, dative is structurally mapped onto NANP entities in the conceptual structure. Important consequences about other peripheral roles are discussed in section 5.
The purpose of this study is to propose the effective location-based IoT service acceptance model by integrating ELM (Elaboration Likelihood Model) with UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology). The Partial Least Squares was used to analyze the causal relationships with respect to the effects of central route and peripheral route on acceptance intention. The results shows that central route has more significant impacts on perceived usefulness than peripheral route and CFIP (Concern for Information Privacy) weaken the relationship of acceptance intention and perceived usefulness. Our findings indicate some meaningful implications in the acceptance research of IOT services. First, we noted that the easy of use significantly affects the adoption of location-based IoT service. Furthermore, it is important to build the secured mechanism of privacy protection to adopt of location-based IoT service. Second, we tried to attempt the newly integrated approach to technical acceptance using UTAUT's variables and ELM by Petty and Cacioppo (1986). Finally this research empirically analyzed the adoption case of location-based IoT service which is not well-known yet within our country.
The ultimate purpose of eye movement is to maintain clear vision by ensuring that images of observed objects are focused on the fovea in the retina. Accurate evaluation of ocular movements, including nystagmus and saccadic intrusions, provides very useful information for determining the overall function and abnormality of the complex oculomotor system, from the peripheral vestibular system to the cerebrum. Eye movement tests are therefore essential for the accurate diagnosis of patients who complain of dizziness and imbalance. They help to predict lesion locations from the peripheral vestibular system to the central cerebral cortex and play an important role in differentiation from other diseases. The methodology of recording and interpreting ocular movements using video-oculography are described in this review article.

This paper deals with the experimental assessment of the vibration suppression of the smart structures. First. we have presented a new high-speed active control system using the DSP320C6713 microprocessor. A peripheral system developed is composed of a data acquisition system, N/D and D/A converters, piezoelectric (PZT) actuator/sensors, and drivers for fast data processing. Next, we have tested the processing time of the peripheral devices, and provided the corresponding test results. Since fast data processing is very important in the active vibration control of the structures, we have focused on achieving the fast loop times of the control system. Finally, numerous experiments were carried out on the aluminum plate to validate the superior performance of the vibration control system at different control loop times.
The role of the interconnect network, which connects computing nodes to each other, is important in high-performance computing (HPC) systems. In recent years, the peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) has become a promising interface as an interconnection network for high-performance and cost-effective HPC systems having the features of non-transparent bridge (NTB) technologies. OpenSHMEM is a programming model for distributed shared memory that supports a partitioned global address space (PGAS). Currently, little work has been done to develop the OpenSHMEM library for PCIe-interconnected HPC systems. This paper introduces a prototype implementation of the OpenSHMEM library through a switchless interconnect network using PCIe NTB to provide a PGAS programming model. In particular, multi-interrupt, multi-thread-based data transfer over the OpenSHMEM shared memory model is applied at the implementation level to reduce the latency and increase the throughput of the switchless ring network system. The implemented OpenSHMEM programming model over the PCIe NTB switchless interconnection network provides a feasible, cost-effective HPC system with a PGAS programming model.
It is decidedly important to ensure QoS(Quality of Service) in order to make it possible a variety of multi-media services and realtime contents services in Wireless networks. One of methods to offer these services is the advanced prediction of Handoff through terminal's directional. In this paper, it is applied that the AP weight for the ground information of peripheral cell and the weight value of history table for the cell frequently visited. Also, it is expected that will be guarant QoS of substantial data in the case of Handoff through exact directional prediction of the next cell by using Kalman Filter algorithm applied GPS coordinates value.
