The Implicit Attitude against Creativity and Global Perception Benefits (창의성에 대한 암묵적 태도와 전체지각의 관계)

  • The implicit association test (IAT) measures implicit attitudes of participants and is regarded as an effective method for expecting future behaviors. Based on the IAT, this study aimed to answer the question, whether implicit attitudes of an individual about creativity have any kinds of impact on global perception, which might be important for a creative process. In the experiment, participants were presented words, which were associated with one of four categories, while one attitude category (creativity /practicality) and one evaluative category (good/bad) were always paired together either on the left side or on the right side of the computer screen. After completing the IAT test, participants were led to fill out a questionnaire to assess explicit attitudes toward creativity and practicality. Then they conducted the navon task, in which they had to find one of two letters, 'F' or 'H', which were presented either as a local form or as a global form. Finally, the participants had to write down as many untypical functions of an object as possible. The results showed that not the scores of explicit attitude scores but the IAT scores correlated with the reaction time of global perception. The global perception was faster in the participants with the low IAT scores than the local perception. Compared to this, the global perception benefits disappeared in the participants with the high IAT scores. Additionally, more creative ideas about the functions of the object were listed in the group with the lower IAT scores. Implications of the role of implicit attitudes about creative processes are discussed.

  • Lying has been such a wrong act in human society, but at the same time we are perpetrating lying surprisingly often in the interpersonal situation. Like this, between what we think and what we do about telling lie is pretty different, and these differences are came from ambivalent attitudes stemmed from different sources which is divided into the implicit and the explicit attitude. We find manipulative liars by simulated racing task by using virtual environment. Implicit Association Test was applied to them to see implicit beliefs, and used self-reported questionnaires to identify explicit attitude about lying. As a result they could manipulate the explicit measures but could not maneuver their own implicit attraction to lie Liars' deceptive behaviors usually occur in subtle and covert way so that it has been hard to notice and to know what lead them to lie. However, as we know those spontaneous process is linked with deception, triggering them lie, it became no more veiled, unpredictable actions.

Effects of Positive Psychology-Based Music Therapy on Family Members' Attitudes Towards Gambling Addicts (긍정심리기반 음악치료가 도박중독자에 대한 가족구성원의 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate if a positive psychological-based music therapy program for gambling addicts' families, causes explicit or implicit attitude change towards gambling addicts. The study focused on families with gambling addicts, who use counseling centers for gambling addiction, or participate in GAM-ANON (GA). The experimental group (n=11) participated in 8 sessions of a positive psychology-based group music therapy program, and the control group (n=8) participated in 8 sessions of personal counseling, or GA family gatherings. To confirm treatment effectiveness, the attitude towards the family relationship, was measured by the explicit (Family Relation Scale) and Implicit Association Task (IAT) methods. Additionally, change in emotions including and anger (PANAS, HBDIS), was measured. Results of the study showed that positive emotions increased significantly, in the positive psychotherapy-based music therapy group compared, to the control group. However, in the treatment group with implicit attitudes, the rate of association of negative words with families accelerated significantly, suggesting that gambling addicts' families may have higher negative emotions. For the future, we discussed the necessity of providing a treatment program, that can directly lead to changes in attitudes of family members of gambling addicts.

  • Traditionally most of studies on voluntary turnover have focused on identifying the determinants of it under the implicit assumption that negative attitudue raises turnover rate and, in turn, it undermines organizational effectiveness. But, recently many scholars have argued that more focus be placed on the functionalty than the frequency of turnover. Based on the recent trend of voluntary turnover, this paper is to analyse the differences of the Intention to Leave(IL) level according to job characteristics(job variety, job importance, job autonomy, job identity, feedback)$\times$functionality(employee ability, attitude). Resulting from 2-way ANOVA, the Negative-attitude Group(NG) is found to expose significantly high IL level than the Affirmative-attitude Group(AG) in low job variety, low job autonomy, low job importance.

  • 최근 인터넷 관련 기술의 급속한 발전으로 사람들의 다양한 사회적, 경제적 행위들이 인터넷을 기반으로 확대되고 있다. 특히 우리나라의 경우 초고속 통신망의 확산과 더불어 인터넷 쇼핑몰과 상거래시장 또한 빠르게 성장하였다. 이러한 상황에서 인터넷을 매체로 하는 광고기법 또한 다양하게 적용되고 있는데, 인터넷을 통한 광고 효과를 극대화하기 위해 인터넷 신문기사 주변에 배치된 배너광고, 팝업광고 등 여러 가지 시도들이 있어왔다. 이러한 시도들은 인터넷 사용자의 편의에 대한 고려보다는 광고내용을 얼마나 잘 전달할 수 있는가에 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 그러나 광고내용이 잘 전달된다 하더라도 소비자가 그 광고에 대해 불쾌감을 느끼게 된다면 과연 인터넷 광고효과가 높다고 말할 수 없을 것이다. 예를 들어, 팝업광고에 대한 대응책으로 개인적으로 팝업 블록커(pop-up blocker)를 사용하겠는가에 대한 설문조사 결과를 보면 사람들이 팝업 블록커를 이용해서라도 팝업광고를 피하고자 하는 비율이 77%에 달한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 실제로 Windows XP 서비스팩 2 이후의 버전은 인터넷 사용자들의 편의를 위해 자동 팝업 차단기능을 갖추고 있는 실정이다. 팝업광고를 통해 아무리 높은 정보전달 효과가 발생한다 하더라도 사용자들은 팝업광고에 대하여 거부감이나 부정적 감정을 느낄 수 있다. 그리고 광고정보가 전달된다 하더라도 팝업광고에 대한 사용자들의 불편함이 그 광고에 대한 부정적 감정으로 전이되어 광고대상에 대한 이미지에 악영향을 미칠 수 있음에 유의해야 한다. 그러므로 광고효과는 극대화하면서, 혹은 기존의 수준을 유지하면서 광고에 대한 거부감을 줄인 광고형태를 찾기 위한 다양한 노력들이 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 인터넷 신문기사에 첨부된 광고에 대한 사용자의 거부감을 줄일 수 있는 새로운 광고 제시 방식을 찾고자 일반적으로 사용되는 배너와 팝업 등 두 가지 광고 제시 방식과 전면에 돌출하지 않는 형태로 인터넷 신문기사의 배경에 삽입된 광고 제시 방식을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 인터넷 신문기사 영역의 주변 특정 부분(코너나 중간 부분 등)에 광고를 삽입한 배너 형태의 광고와 인터넷 신문기사 위에 광고가 돌출 등장하여 콘텐츠를 가리는 팝업 형태의 광고 제시 방식보다 새롭게 제안된 백그라운드 형태의 광고 제시 방식이 인터넷 신문기사를 읽는 사용자에게 거부감을 줄이며 동시에 광고효과를 유지할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 인터넷 광고 제시 방식으로 활용한다면 인터넷 사용자에게 콘텐츠를 방해하여 발생하는 명시적인 거부감(explicit negative attitude)을 줄이면서도 암묵적인(implicit) 광고효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

The Influence of Environment-friendly Agricultural Products(EAPs) Perception of Parents in Chung-buk Area on EAPs Consumption Behavior (충북 지역 학부모의 친환경 농산물에 대한 인식이 친환경 농산물 이용에 미치는 영향)

  • The current exploratory study attempted to investigate the influence of environment-friendly agricultural products(EAPs) perception on EAPs consumption behavior. The survey was conducted to parents of elementary school in Chung-buk area by the help of homeroom teachers of each school. Out of 500 questionnaires administered, a total of 305 completed questionnaires were returned, yielding a response rate of 61%. Regarding buying behavior, 89.6% of respondents have ever bought EAPs, among them, 52.9% usually bought in a mart. The reason to buy EAPs was mostly safety(57.6%), nutrition & health(30.4%), and quality(7.0%). The 11 items representing the attitude and knowledge were analyzed, resulting in three distinct dimensions-'attitude', 'knowledge', and 'concern'. The knowledge level of EAPs was slightly higher than medium. Concerning the influence of EAPs perception on EAPs consumption behavior, the more having high knowledge and attitude level on EAPs, the more lead to the EAPs consumption behavior. This implicit the importance of education to enhance the knowledge level and positive attitude towards EAPs.

Effects of Consumer Propensity and Brand Attitude on Brand Extension Assessment: Focused on Easy Mobile Payment Services (소비자 성향과 브랜드 태도가 브랜드확장평가에 미치는 영향: 모바일 간편결제 서비스를 중심으로)

  • The recent globalization of the consumer market has highlighted the importance of a brand; subsequently, brand extension is strategically used to launch of various products and services. Especially, various and new services based on information and communication technology for the convenience of consumers have been provided continuously. This study examined consumer's evaluation for brand extension centered on the brand extension as a mobile payment service through consumer propensity and familiarity as well as attitude toward a brand. The research is as follows. First, it shows that self-efficacy and implicit theories among consumer characteristics positively influence familiarity and attitude toward a brand. Second, it shows that the planned consumption tendency among consumption characteristics of a consumer positively affect familiarity toward a brand. Third, it is confirmed that the brand extension on parents brand affects the attitude towards brand extension, and the attitude towards brand extension is connected to a willingness to recommend through the purchase intention. This study empirically confirms the importance of consumer propensity, the consumer's perception, and evaluation towards the brand extension of the company as well as the continuous efforts and required company activities to build and form a positive attitude and familiarity of consumers for the brand. This study can be used as basic data for the strategy development of brand extensions in service companies.

The Effects of a Teaching-Learning Program Using the History of Science on Academic Achievement, Science Attitude, and Science Process Skill of Elementary School Students - Focused on the Unit of 'Our Body' - (과학사를 활용한 '우리 몸' 단원의 교수·학습 프로그램이 초등학생들의 학업성취도, 과학 태도, 과학 탐구 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a teaching-learning program using the history of science on elementary school students' academic achievement, science attitude, and science process skill. Subjects were 72 students of two groups in the 5th Grade. A experimental group of 36 was instructed 10 lessons in unit of 'our body' using the history of science. The history of science materials used in this program included 4 explicit method, which are Eii, Eij, Eik and Ea type, and 1 implicit method which is I type. The contents validity of this program was reviewed by the science education specialists. The results of the study were as follows: Students of experimental group showed statistically more significant increase in academic achievement and science attitude than control group students. However, there was no significant difference on science process skill between the instruction by applying a teaching-learning program using the history of science and the traditional instruction. Since this program using the history of science is effective for the attitude improvement of elementary school students as well as academic achievement, it is highly likely to be used as the science education material for students with the low affective area.

Social values and decision making on bioethical issues (물건인가, 생명인가?: 사회적 가치와 생명윤리에 관한 의사결정)

  • This article aimed to test whether specific social values (i.e., achievement vs. benevolence) could cause changes in decision making on bio-ethical issues. Study 1 investigated value preferences among young Korean college students according to Schwartz's (1992) model of social values. According to the results, the preference for achievement value was correlated negatively with the preference for benevolence value. In Study 2, following a sentence completion task which was conducted to trigger specific values, the participants had to indicate their ethical decisions regarding animal experiment, euthanasia, organ transplantation, biotechnology, sex selection and human cloning, Irrespective of the value priming (achievement vs. benevolence), there were more utilitarian decisions about animal experiment, euthanasia and organ transplantation. In contrary, there were more deontological decisions about sex selection and human cloning. Study 3 introduced a word completion task to assess implicit value preferences. The results showed that the participants with implicit preferences for the benevolence value in the condition of benevolence value priming were more frequently against animal experiments and organ transplantation than those with implicit value preferences for the achievement value. Social values are discussed for understanding one's bioethical decision making.

Utilizing Korean Ending Boundary Tones for Accurately Recognizing Emotions in Utterances (발화 내 감정의 정밀한 인식을 위한 한국어 문미억양의 활용)

  • Autonomic machines interacting with human should have capability to perceive the states of emotion and attitude through implicit messages for obtaining voluntary cooperation from their clients. Voice is the easiest and most natural way to exchange human messages. The automatic systems capable to understanding the states of emotion and attitude have utilized features based on pitch and energy of uttered sentences. Performance of the existing emotion recognition systems can be further improved withthe support of linguistic knowledge that specific tonal section in a sentence is related with the states of emotion and attitude. In this paper, we attempt to improve recognition rate of emotion by adopting such linguistic knowledge for Korean ending boundary tones into anautomatic system implemented using pitch-related features and multilayer perceptrons. From the results of an experiment over a Korean emotional speech database, the improvement of $4\%$ is confirmed.
