  • In this paper, impedance characteristics of overhead medium-voltage (MV) power lines is reported for power line communication (PLC) over an MV power line network. For analysis, a two-port equivalent network model of MV power lines is derived. By applying the transmission line theory, reflection behavior and impedance of power lines are investigated. For verification, impedance of power lines is measured at a test field for an MV PLC. The results show that impedance of MV power lines is between $200{\Omega}$ and $300{\Omega}$ and converges to a half of their characteristic impedance.

  • The piezocomposite transducer is widely used because it is highly efficient in transforming electric energy into mechanical energy, and its frequency range is broader than that of other types of ultrasound transducers. A general piezocomposite transducer is composed of an acoustic lens, impedance matching layers, piezoelectric materials, and backing layers. When an input voltage is applied to a piezoelectric material as an active material, it generates sound waves while vibrating. At that time, an impedance matching layer helps the sound waves to propagate forward while reducing the impedance mismatch that may occur at the interface between the active material and its front material. The impedance mismatch has a negative effect on the signal of an ultrasound transducer; thus, it is important to design a matching layer to overcome the issue. In this study, an optimized feature of a matching layer with gradient properties is studied. An objective function is defined to minimize both the average and the deviation of the reflection coefficients that are functions of the frequencies. As a result, an improvement in the signal characteristics with respect to the sensitivity and bandwidth is reported.

  • For the power line communication, we studied its characteristic impedance, noise characteristics, loss characteristics and the coupling circuit between the communication MODEM and power lines. As the results of the experiments, we concluded that the power line impedance in a house varied in the wide range because the electric systems generate the current and voltage hamornic noises.

  • Film bulk acoustic resonators for radio frequency wireless applications are presented. Various simulations and modeling were carried out. The impedance of a five-layered FBAR showed almost the same trend of the wideband characteristics as that of an ideal FBAR, but the characteristics of the higher modes appear to be much more suppressed. In addition, the wideband impedance decreased with increasing device size. The resonance characteristics depend strongly on the physical dimensions.

  • Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) has been expected to be an alternative to the conventional silicon solar cell due to simple manufacturing process and low fabrication casts. In order to improve productivity of DSC, we attempted to optimize the required time of the adsorption process. According to the change in the adsorption time from 1 to 24h, We analyzed the output characteristics and the change of internal impedance. As a result, The outputs of DSC were continuously increased until 12h of the adsorption time and remained the same after that. Also, We reconfirmed this result that 12h was optimum adsorption by the analysis of the electrochemical impedance spectroscope because the internal impedance was similar to the output.

  • 3상 4선식 배전계통을 채용하는 우리나라는 비선형 부하의 증가로 중성선에는 많은 중성선 고조파 전류가 관측되고 있다. 또한 접지 임피던스는 고조파가 있는 중성선 전류에 영향 끼친다고 알려져 있다. 전위 강하법에 따라 현장에서 실측한 고조파 전류와 전압을 측정하고, Pattern Search 기법으로 고조파 해석용 접지 임피던스를 모델링 하였다. 여기서 구한 임피던스 모델은 현장 시험에 의한 임피던스 모델과 비교하여 유사한 결과를 얻었고, 접지 시스템의 고조파 및 과도 응답 특성을 평가하는데 활용될 것으로 사료된다.

  • In this paper, we perform a modeling for the AT Feeder system in AC electric railway and we utilize the power EMTDC program to implement about AT feeder system modeling. In addition, we study the impedance characteristics of the AT feeder system and calculated fault current and impedance according to the distance due to fault accident. Based on it's result, fault current are compared between calculating the value and simulation value in EMTDC modeling. Impedance of power system is Largest at the middle point of the system and is smallest near autotransformer, and then showed that the fault current is inversely proportional to impedance characteristics.

  • In the present study, impedance characteristics for AgO-Zn cell at various State-of-Charge (SoC) has been studied. The impedance measurements of AgO-Zn cell at various SoC were made over the frequency range from 100kHz to 10mHz with an amplitude 5mV. The impedance parameters have been evaluated by the analysis of the data using an equivalent circuit and a Non-linear least squares (NLLS) fitting method. The total resistances reflects the SoC of the cell. This indicates that the total resistance is important parameter for predicting SoC of AgO-Zn cell.

A Reconfigurable Directional Coupler Using a Variable Impedance Mismatch Reflector for High Isolation

  • This letter proposes a reconfigurable directional coupler that uses a variable impedance mismatch reflector to achieve high isolation characteristics in the antenna front end. The reconfigurable coupler consists of a directional coupler and a single-pole four-throw (SP4T) switch with different load impedances as a variable load mismatch reflector. Selection of the load impedance by the reflector allows cancellation of the reflected signal due to antenna load mismatch and the leakage from the input to isolation port of the directional coupler, resulting in high isolation characteristics. The performance of the proposed architecture in separating the received (Rx) signal from the transmitted (Tx) signal in the antenna front end was verified by implementing and testing the reconfigurable coupler at 917 MHz for UHF radio-frequency identification (RFID) applications. The proposed reconfigurable directional coupler showed an improvement in the isolation characteristics of more than 20 dB at the operation frequency band.

  • 본 논문에서는 probe로 급전되는 적층형 마이로스트립 2소자 배열 안테나의 임피던스 및 결합특성을 제시하였다. 안테나 구조의 해석에는 벡터 한켈 변환을 이용한 스팩트럴 영역법을 적용하였다. 또한 이 안테나의 임피던스 및 결합특성, 그리고 두 소자 안테나간의 거리에 따른 결합특성 변화등을 측정하여 그 결과를 제시한다. 끝으로, 해석을 통해 계산된 결과와 측정된 결과를 비교하여 두 결과가 잘 일치함을 보였다.
