  • In this study, we developed honeycomb pads using foam and polymer gel and verified the impact protection performance of pads for the development of a fall protection pants for elderly women aged 65 and over who have a high risk of fracture due to falls. The results are as follows; In the first experiment, the impact protection performance was evaluated for four honeycomb pad samples (CR foam, EPDM foam, hardness 15 polymer gel, and hardness 30 polymer gel) manufactured to a thickness of 5 mm using a single material. When the force of about 10757N was applied to the specimens, all four pads reduced the impact force to 3100N or less. Polymer gels showed better protection than foam materials. In the second experiment, the thickness of the protective pad was set to 8 mm in order to improve the shock absorbing performance of the protective pad. As a result of evaluating the impact protection performance of the foam single pad and foam gel composite pad, the impact absorbing performance of the foam single pad was better. Finally, four kinds of protection pads were made by assigning the foam single pad and the foam gel composite pad to pants type and underwear type respectively. The pad thickness of the main protection area was set to 8 mm to enhance the protection, and gradually decreased to 5mm and 3mm toward the edge to improve the appearance and fit.

  • The paper aims to investigate the impact of budgetary goal on profit growth directly and indirectly through managerial performance. Two main characteristics of budgetary goal mentioning in the study are the clarity of budget goal and the difficult of budget goal. Data of the research collected from survey with 197 department managers and supervisors of 80 SMEs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City who have budgeting responsible. Firstly, by using quantitative research method Cronbach's Alpha and Exploratory Factor Analysis, the research show that characteristic of budgetary goal has significant and positive impact on profit growth directly. Secondly, the regression analysis among variables show that budget goal clarity was positively and significantly related to growth of sale revenue, growth of profit and managerial performance. Therefore, the empirical findings show that that managerial performance has mediating role in the relationship between budgetary goal characteristic and financial performance. The findings of this study suggest that that managers need focus on setting clearer and more difficult but attainable budget goals to increase firm performance. This paper also provides a new insight the relationship between managerial performance and financial performance. Budgetary goal characteristics still have positive but insignificant impact on growth of sales revenue.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competency, work discipline, and work environment on teacher performance during the pandemic. Using the proportional random sampling strategy, a sample of 468 respondents consisted of kindergarten teachers, elementary school teachers, junior high school teachers, junior high school teachers, and high school/vocational school teachers. The study revealed that the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment substantially impact teacher performance. However, the principal's democratic leadership style does not affect teacher performance, whereas teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment have a minor impact on teacher performance. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, work discipline is the most critical variable influencing teacher performance. The findings of this study suggest that the principal's democratic leadership style, teacher competence, work discipline, and work environment have a positive impact on teacher performance during the pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, work discipline is the most important variable influencing teacher performance. Considering that democratic leadership has no effect on teacher performance and that this leadership style is widely used by school principals in the world of education, it is assumed that there is no effect on teacher performance.

  • To minimze the degree of damage for the SMART highway's punctuality and safety after car-barrier collisions, the impact condition for longitudinal barriers of SMART highway was determined to be quite larger than the existing maximum impact condition. The impact condition consists of impact vehicles, impact velocities, and impact angles. To consider the occupant safety of passenger cars as much as possible, a small car with high risk during impact was selected as the impact vehicle for the evaluation of occupant risk. The impact velocity was determined to be 20% larger than the existing maximum impact velocity in order to include accident impact velocities as much as possible. The impact angle was determined to include most of expected accident impact angles. Computer simulations using various impact conditions were conducted for the existing domestic highest-performance medium and roadside barrier. How the suggested impact condition has an effect on the occupant safety was investigated. The existing domestic highest-performance medium and roadside barriers could not satisfy the suggested impact condition. New high-performance longitudinal barriers are required to minimize the degree of damage for the SMART highway's punctuality and safety after car-barrier collisions.

  • This study investigates the impact of Internet Banking Systems on the business performance of bank. Although Internet Banking Systems were introduced about 15 years ago in Korea, there were few studies which evidenced the relationship between Internet Banking Systems and the performance of banks. For this empirical investigation, this study collected the panel data of 13 domestic banks over 8.5 years and divided the dataset into two parts-the first half period (2003~2007) and the second half period (2008~2011) in order to examine the dynamic changes in the impact of Internet Banking Systems. The fixed-effects panel regression results were different in the two parts of dataset. Internet Banking Systems showed only cost-efficiency impact in the first half period. However, in the second half period, Internet Banking Systems showed positive impact on the bank profitability. Moreover, the dummy variable regarding local bank showed no additional impact on this result, implying that the impact of Internet Banking Systems was still significant for the local banks. The results will deliver managerial interpretation on the value of Internet Banking Systems and additional implication on the strategic planning of Internet Banking Systems for many domestic banks.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 risk perception on the operational activities and performance of incubator tenant companies during the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak. The primary variables considered for the operational activities of incubator tenant companies include financial management, research and development, marketing, and downsizing. Financial and non-financial performance are the key variables for business performance. The research findings indicate that COVID-19 risk perception has a significant impact only on downsizing, but it does not significantly affect financial management, research and development, or marketing. Additionally, COVID-19 risk perception has a significantly negative impact on both financial and non-financial performance. Financial management and marketing significantly influence financial performance, while research and development and downsizing do not seem to have a significant impact on financial performance. Conversely, research and development, as well as marketing activities, significantly impact non-financial performance, while financial management and downsizing lack a significant influence on non-financial performance. Finally, when examining incubator tenant companies categorized into early-stage, leap-stage, and growth-stage companies, it was observed that only marketing activities have a common and significant impact on non-financial performance across all three types of companies.

  • Impact resistance and weight are important features for ballistic materials. Kevlar fibres are the most widely reinforcement for military and civil systems due to its excellent impact resistance and high strength-to-weight ratio. Kevlar fibres or spectra fiber composites are used for designing personal body armour to avoid perforation. In this study, the ballistic impact behaviour of Kevlar/filled epoxy matrix is investigated. Three different fillers, nanoclay, nanocalcite and nanocarbon, were used in order to increase the ballistic impact performance of Kevlar-epoxy composite at lower weight. The filler, nanoclay and nanocalcite, content employed was 1 wt.% and 2 of the epoxy resin-hardener mixture while the nanocarbon were dispersed into the epoxy system in a 0.5%, 1% and 2% ratio in weight relating to the epoxy matrix. Specimens were produced by a hand lay-up process. The results obtained from ballistic impact experiments were discussed in terms of damage and perforation. The experimental tests revealed a number of damage mechanisms for composite laminated plates. In the ballistic impact test, it was observed whether the target was perforated completely penetrated at the back or not. The presence of small amounts of nanoclay and nanocalcite dispersed into the epoxy system improved the impact properties of the Kevlar/epoxy composites. The laminates manufactured with epoxy resin filled by 1 wt.% of nanoclay and 2 wt% nanocalcite showed the best performance in terms of ballistic performance. The addition of nanocarbon reduced ballistic performance of Kevlar-epoxy composites when compared the results obtained for laminates with 0% nanoparticles concentration.
