Purpose: Research on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an important role in helping provinces attract more FDI projects. However, with local competition, FDI enterprises also have to consider their investment. This study evaluates the provincial competitiveness to attract FDI in Thai Nguyen province, a province of Vietnam. In which provincial distribution of competitiveness is measured through nine indicators. Research design, data, and methodology: The study collects data (FDI and the provincial competitiveness index) from 2006 to 2020. The study uses Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to text the impact of distribution of competitivenes on foreign direct investment. With time-series, the ARDL is suitable for data analysis. Results: The regression results indicate that the competition index of market entry and informal costs negatively impact attracting FDI into the province; The human resource training quality index has a positive effect on FDI. The results show that FDI enterprises pay much attention to business establishment procedures, hidden costs, and quality of human resources in the province. Conclusions: At the same time, in terms of practice, the results of this study, the authors also offer solutions to help improve the ability to attract FDI into Thai Nguyen province. The significant provincial competitiveness indicators should be taken into account for improvement first.

Information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the primary zones that stimulates economic development in today's globalized world. It promotes technological developments in worldwide communication and manufacturing systems, as well as economic growth and development. Many economic activities, such as international trade and foreign direct investment, rely heavily on contemporary information and communications technologies (FDI). The goal of this study is to look at the dynamic relationship between FDI, ICT, trade openness, and economic growth in the context of BRICS countries from 2000 to 2018, with Gross Domestic Product as the dependent variable and Telephone subscriptions, Mobile subscriptions, Broadband subscriptions, Internet subscribers, Secure internet servers, Trade, and Foreign direct investment as the independent variables. Two variables are used as proxies to manage the macroeconomic environment, while five variables are used as proxies for ICT infrastructures. The outcomes of this study are analyzed using Generalized Methods of Movements (GMM). According to this study, ICT has a positive impact on the economic growth of a few countries. Trade openness and foreign direct investment, on the other hand, have a negative impact on economic growth. As growing countries, the BRICS must participate in economic reform and liberalization measures. This report suggests policy proposals for improving ICT standards, focusing especially on economic growth, trade openness, and increasing foreign investment in the BRICS countries.
This study extends the extant scope of understanding investment decision, beyond the dominant 'technical' emphasis on the application of discounted cash flow techniques. The research methodology draws the positivist and interpretive research paradigms. It uses a deductive approach, survey strategy and principal component analysis for the analysis. Three key sets of factors emerged as important in the investment decision process in the hydropower sector. They are: group consensus (framing), influences on own judgment (heuristics), and application of knowledge & experience (intuition). The use of purposive and convenient sampling might have some unintended impact on the findings. Consequently, any generalizations of the findings to a wider population of organizations and managers need to be made with care. It is hoped that this paper will encourage other researchers to go beyond the analytic techniques of investment appraisal that have dominated investment decision research and seek to balance the emphasis by focusing on human involvement and behavioral aspects of investment decision.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the economic and social impact of the SEP in which the elderly participate by using the blended return on investment (BROI), economic return on investment (EROI), and social return on investment (SROI) research methods. And the sustainable conditions of SEP were confirmed. This study was conducted with one market-type SEP approved by the Korea Elderly Labor Force Development Institute (KLFDI), one preliminary social enterprise approved by Changwon City Hall, and one market-type SEP operated by a social welfare center for the elderly. As a result of the study, it was found that EROI, SROI, and BROI were the highest in the SEP of preliminary social enterprises operated by subsidies in Changwon. However, the difference between EROI and SROI was greatest in the market-type SEP operated by the elderly social welfare center. There was a big difference between economic and social impacts. The social influence of the elderly was evaluated to be higher than the income of the elderly.

This study examines the impact of government funds to venture capital on investment in early-stage firms. We provide novel explanations about this relationship focusing on mechanisms by which government funds influence the perceived uncertainty, decision about investment priority, scale economy of investment, information asymmetry in investment decision, and capital expense. We argue that venture capital's investment in early-stage firms increases as government funds increase and as government funds are explicitly directed for early-stage firms. However, we further claim that the impact of government funds on early-stage investment will be decreasing as their size increases and finally be reverted to negative impact beyond a certain amount of funds to show inverse-U relationship. Our empirical examination using data from 105 Korean venture firms active as of 2013 consistently supports the claims. This study contributes to the venture capital literature by providing novel arguments about mechanisms and effects of policy intervention in venture capital. In practice, we expect our results will provide an opportunity for relevant policy makers to review their venture support policy based on empirical evidences for policy effects.
Over the past three decades, the impact of information technology (IT) investments on firm performance has been the subject of active research. Despite increasing importance of research into the productivity of IT in developing countries, almost all findings on IT productivity have been based on data collected in developed countries. This study investigates the effects of IT investment on firms' financial performance in the insurance industry of Korea, which is OECD member and can be classified as a developed country in IT perspective, and in the electronics industry of China, which is a developing country, and compare them. The findings show that IT investment has a positive and significant impact on firm efficiency in both Korea and China, but a weakly positive impact on firm growth in only Korea. Moreover, the size of the impact on efficiency (ROA) in China is significantly larger than that in Korea.
The $21^{st}$ century is a new century of environmental protection. Environmental protection is one of the most important subject matters yet to come. Moreover, as the public pays more attention to environmental problems, enterprises should increase their investment in environmental management. Therefore, determining the investment level for environmental management and allocating the investment to associated environmental management activities has become a major task. The principal and agent theory and sales response functions are used for analysis in this research. The allocation of capital investment in environmental management is found to have significant impact on the aggregate sales response, aggregate profit and investment level. Therefore, in preparing the budget for environmental management, enterprises should focus on investment allocation decisions, determine the investment level and allocation method using integrated means, and apply submarket data in the allocation decision-making process. In other words, in setting the investment level, executive management should take managers' willingness into consideration. In allocating capital investment, managers should identify the optimal allocation method based on submarket characteristics.
This study analyzed the impact of the investment of venture capital firms(VCFs) on the technological advancement of SMEs, which could be represented as the numerical increasement of patents. The results of this study are as follows: the higher proportion of VCFs' shares or the higher intensity of R&D, the more positive impact has been shown in the technological advancement of SMEs. Also, the joint investment of VCFs or the leading investors' stock acquirement had a positive impact on the technological improvement of them. Meanwhile, the meaningful relationships of company-size and the technical manpower with technological development were not identified although they were marginally positive. Those could be interpreted that the VCFs' supervision and control, including their managerial and technical advice, over invested companies display effectiveness for SMEs. It could also be interpreted that investors concentrate their investment on the relatively stable companies or the companies which other investors already finished screening.

This paper aims to study the influence of environmental attitudes on the choice of non-professional investors. It highlights the role of environmental performance assurance on investment judgments. This choice is due to the motivation and importance that investors place on the disclosure of environmental information. The main purpose of the research is focused on the empirical approach justified by the use of a questionnaire addressed to 200 non-professional investors. The results show that attitudes towards the environment do not correlate with the importance that gives this category of investors to the environmental information.. Subsequently, the results prove that the disclosure of an environmental assurance report has a positive impact on investment judgments independently of their appreciation of the environmental information concerning that of financial order.
