The article considers the fundamentalization of education in improving the future specialists professional training with usage of multimedia technologies by various scientists. Various points of view and approaches to defining the concepts of fundamentalization of education and multimedia technologies are identified. The concept of fundamentalization of professional training of a future specialist is based on the goals and functions of fundamentalization and - on the ways and means of achieving it, etc. Most authors agree only in their views that the fundamentalization of education is aimed at improving the quality of education and the education of the individual. Others involve the formation of a culture and worldview, increasing the creative and intellectual potential, forming the professional competence of a specialist and the potential for further education, and so on. The term multimedia refers to interactive systems that provide processing of moving and still video images, animated graphics, high-quality audio and speech. It is found out that professional training of a specialist by means of multimedia technologies includes not only the activities of the teacher and student, which form the learning process, but also the independent activity of the subject, self-development, assimilation of experience by the subject through analysis, comprehension and transformation of the field of activity in which he is included. It is revealed through the implementation of which approaches to the fundamentalization of higher professional education, it becomes possible to fully present theoretical training courses and effectively pass practical training by students, which contributes to improving the quality of training of future specialists in higher education institutions. Theoretical analysis of scientific views indicates a fairly serious attention of scientists to the problem of professional readiness of specialists and the possibility of higher educational institutions in preparing for it. At the same time, professional readiness is considered from different positions: as an active state of a person, which manifests itself in activity; as a result of activity; as goals of activity; as a quality that characterizes the attitude to solving professional problems and social situations; as a prerequisite for purposeful activity; as a form of activity of the subject; as an integral formation of personality; as a component of socio-professional culture; as a complex professionally significant neoplasm of the individual.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs established the FarmMap, an digital map of agricultural land. In this study, using deep learning, we suggest the application of farm map reading to farmland such as paddy fields, fields, ginseng, fruit trees, facilities, and uncultivated land. The farm map is used as spatial information for planting status and drone operation by digitizing agricultural land in the real world using aerial and satellite images. A reading manual has been prepared and updated every year by demarcating the boundaries of agricultural land and reading the attributes. Human reading of agricultural land differs depending on reading ability and experience, and reading errors are difficult to verify in reality because of budget limitations. The farmmap has location information and class information of the corresponding object in the image of 5 types of farmland properties, so the suitable AI technique was tested with ResNet50, an instance segmentation model. The results of attribute reading of agricultural land using deep learning and attribute reading by humans were compared. If technology is developed by focusing on attribute reading that shows different results in the future, it is expected that it will play a big role in reducing attribute errors and improving the accuracy of digital map of agricultural land.

Virtual reality simulations are used for education and training in various fields, and are especially widely used in the medical field recently. The education/training simulator consists of tactile/force feedback generation and image/sound output hardware that provides a sense similar to a doctor's treatment of a real patient using real surgical tools, and software that produces realistic images and tactile feedback. Existing simulators are complicated and expensive because they have to use various types of hardware to simulate various surgical instruments used during surgery. In this paper, we propose a dental surgical simulation system using a force feedback device and a morphable haptic controller. Haptic hardware determines whether the surgical tool collides with the surgical site and provides a sense of resistance and vibration. In particular, haptic controllers that can be deformed, such as length changes and bending, can express various senses felt depending on the shape of various surgical tools. When the user manipulates the haptic feedback device, events such as movement of the haptic feedback device or button clicks are delivered to the simulation system, resulting in interaction between dental surgical tools and oral internal models, and thus haptic feedback is delivered to the haptic feedback device. Using these basic techniques, we provide a realistic training experience of impacted wisdom tooth extraction surgery, a representative dental surgery technique, in a virtual environment represented by sophisticated three-dimensional models.
Functional ultrasound imaging, such as elasticity imaging and micro-blood flow Doppler imaging, enhances diagnostic capability by providing useful mechanical and functional information about tissues. However, the implementation of functional ultrasound imaging poses limitations such as the storage of vast amounts of data in Radio Frequency (RF) data acquisition and processing. In this paper, we propose a sub-Nyquist approach that reduces the amount of acquired axial samples for efficient shear-wave elasticity imaging. The proposed method acquires data at a sampling rate one-third lower than the conventional Nyquist sampling rate and tracks shear-wave signals through RF signals reconstructed using band-pass filtering-based interpolation. In this approach, the RF signal is assumed to have a fractional bandwidth of 67 %. To validate the approach, we reconstruct the shear-wave velocity images using shear-wave tracking data obtained by conventional and proposed approaches, and compare the group velocity, contrast-to-noise ratio, and structural similarity index measurement. We qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate the potential of sub-Nyquist sampling-based shear-wave elasticity imaging, indicating that our approach could be practically useful in three-dimensional shear-wave elasticity imaging, where a massive amount of ultrasound data is required.

Human urine is a process of excreting waste products in the blood, and it is easy to collect and contains various substances. Urinalysis is used to check for diseases, health conditions, and urinary tract infections. There are three methods of urinalysis: physical property test, chemical test, and microscopic test, and chemical test results can be easily confirmed using urine test strips. A variety of items can be tested on the urine test strip, through which various diseases can be identified. Recently, with the spread of smart phones, research on reading urine test strips using smart phones is being conducted. There is a method of detecting and reading the color change of a urine test strip using a smartphone. This method uses the RGB values and the color difference formula to discriminate. However, there is a problem in that accuracy is lowered due to various environmental factors. This paper applies a deep learning model to solve this problem. In particular, color discrimination of a urine test strip is improved in a smartphone using a lightweight CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) model. CNN is a useful model for image recognition and pattern finding, and a lightweight version is also available. Through this, it is possible to operate a deep learning model on a smartphone and extract accurate urine test results. Urine test strips were taken in various environments to prepare deep learning model training images, and a urine test service application was designed using MobileNet V3.

In recent years, the growing interest in off-site construction has led to factories scaling up their manufacturing and production processes in the construction sector. Consequently, continuous large-scale site monitoring in low-variability environments, such as prefabricated components production plants (precast concrete production), has gained increasing importance. Although many studies on computer vision-based site monitoring have been conducted, challenges for deploying this technology for large-scale field applications still remain. One of the issues is collecting and transmitting vast amounts of video data. Continuous site monitoring systems are based on real-time video data collection and analysis, which requires excessive computational resources and network traffic. In addition, it is difficult to integrate various object information with different sizes and scales into a single scene. Various sizes and types of objects (e.g., workers, heavy equipment, and materials) exist in a plant production environment, and these objects should be detected simultaneously for effective site monitoring. However, with the existing object detection algorithms, it is difficult to simultaneously detect objects with significant differences in size because collecting and training massive amounts of object image data with various scales is necessary. This study thus developed a large-scale site monitoring system using edge computing and a small-object detection system to solve these problems. Edge computing is a distributed information technology architecture wherein the image or video data is processed near the originating source, not on a centralized server or cloud. By inferring information from the AI computing module equipped with CCTVs and communicating only the processed information with the server, it is possible to reduce excessive network traffic. Small-object detection is an innovative method to detect different-sized objects by cropping the raw image and setting the appropriate number of rows and columns for image splitting based on the target object size. This enables the detection of small objects from cropped and magnified images. The detected small objects can then be expressed in the original image. In the inference process, this study used the YOLO-v5 algorithm, known for its fast processing speed and widely used for real-time object detection. This method could effectively detect large and even small objects that were difficult to detect with the existing object detection algorithms. When the large-scale site monitoring system was tested, it performed well in detecting small objects, such as workers in a large-scale view of construction sites, which were inaccurately detected by the existing algorithms. Our next goal is to incorporate various safety monitoring and risk analysis algorithms into this system, such as collision risk estimation, based on the time-to-collision concept, enabling the optimization of safety routes by accumulating workers' paths and inferring the risky areas based on workers' trajectory patterns. Through such developments, this continuous large-scale site monitoring system can guide a construction plant's safety management system more effectively.

Recently interests on the application of thermal cameras have increased with the advance of image analysis technology. Aside from a simple image acquisition, applications such as digital twin and thermal image management systems have gained popularity. To this end, we studied the effect of emissivity on the DN (Digital Number) value in the process of derivation of a relational expression for converting DN to an actual surface temperature. The DN value is a number representing the spectral band value of the thermal image, and is an important element constituting the thermal image data. However, the DN value is not a temperature value indicating the actual surface temperature, but a brightness value indicating high and low heat as brightness, and has a non-linear relationship with the actual surface temperature. The reliable relationship between DN and the actual surface temperature is critical for a thermal image processing. We tested the relationship between the actual surface temperature and the DN value of the thermal image, and then the radiation adjustment was performed to better estimate actual surface temperatures. As a result, the relation graph between the actual surface temperature and the DN value similarly show linear pattern with the relation graph between the radiation-controlled non-contact thermometer and the DN value. And the non-contact temperature after adjusting the emissivity was closer to the actual surface temperature than before adjusting the emissivity.

According to the statistics about the fatal crashes that have occurred on the expressways for the last 5 years, those who died on the shoulders of the road has been as 3 times high as the others who died on the expressways. It suggests that the crashes on the shoulders of the road should be fatal, and that it would be important to prevent the traffic crashes by cracking down on the vehicles intruding the shoulders of the road. Therefore, this study proposed a method to detect a vehicle that violates the shoulder lane by using the Faster R-CNN. The vehicle was detected based on the Faster R-CNN, and an additional reading module was configured to determine whether there was a shoulder violation. For experiments and evaluations, GTAV, a simulation game that can reproduce situations similar to the real world, was used. 1,800 images of training data and 800 evaluation data were processed and generated, and the performance according to the change of the threshold value was measured in ZFNet and VGG16. As a result, the detection rate of ZFNet was 99.2% based on Threshold 0.8 and VGG16 93.9% based on Threshold 0.7, and the average detection speed for each model was 0.0468 seconds for ZFNet and 0.16 seconds for VGG16, so the detection rate of ZFNet was about 7% higher. The speed was also confirmed to be about 3.4 times faster. These results show that even in a relatively uncomplicated network, it is possible to detect a vehicle that violates the shoulder lane at a high speed without pre-processing the input image. It suggests that this algorithm can be used to detect violations of designated lanes if sufficient training datasets based on actual video data are obtained.

Object detection technology that accurately recognizes the road and surrounding conditions is a key technology in the field of autonomous driving. In the field of autonomous driving, object detection technology requires real-time performance as well as accuracy of inference services. Task offloading technology should be utilized to apply object detection technology for accuracy and real-time on resource-constrained devices rather than high-performance machines. In this paper, experiments such as performance comparison of task offloading, performance comparison according to input image resolution, and performance comparison according to camera object resolution were conducted and the results were analyzed in relation to the application of task offloading for real-time object detection of autonomous driving in resource-constrained devices. In this experiment, the low-resolution image could derive performance improvement through the application of the task offloading structure, which met the real-time requirements of autonomous driving. The high-resolution image did not meet the real-time requirements for autonomous driving due to the increase in communication time, although there was an improvement in performance. Through these experiments, it was confirmed that object recognition in autonomous driving affects various conditions such as input images and communication environments along with the object recognition model used.

Orthophotos and DEMs were generated by UAV-based aerial photogrammetry and an attempt was made to apply them to detailed investigations for the production of flood traces. The cultivated area located in Goa-eup, Gumi, where the embankment collapsed and inundated inundation occurred due to the impact of 6th Typhoon Sanba in 2012, was selected as rhe target area. To obtain optimal accuracy of UAV photogrammetry performance, the UAV images were taken under the optimal placement of 19 GCPs and then point cloud, DEM, and orthoimages were generated through image processing using Pix4Dmapper software. After applying CloudCompare's CSF Filtering to separate the point cloud into ground elements and non-ground elements, a finally corrected DEM was created using only non-ground elements in GRASS GIS software. The flood level and flood depth data extracted from the final generated DEM were compared and presented with the flood level and flood depth data from existing data as of 2012 provided through the public data portal site of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation(LX).
