  • Direct and inverse mathematical operators of stereo transformation (stereo operators) are studied in this paper. The stereo operators install a one-to-one correspondence between three dimensional coordinates of any point in space and the stereo coordinates which can be displayed on the screen under the given conditions, i.e. stereo vision base and the position of viewer. The stereo operators can be applied to the analyses of stereoscopic image distortions when the stereo vision base and the position of viewer are changed.

  • The purpose of this study is to create a self-portrait that provides an immersive experience that immerses the viewer into the problem of self-awareness. We propose a method to implement an interactive self-portrait by using audio and image information obtained from viewers. The viewer's voice information is converted into text and visualized. In this case, the viewer's face image is used as pixel information composing the text. Text is the result of a mixture of one's own emotions, imaginations, and intentions based on personal experiences and memories. People have different interpretations of certain texts in different ways. The proposed digital self-portrait not only reproduces the viewer's self-consciousness in the inner aspect by utilizing the intertextuality of the text, but also expands the meanings inherent in the text. Intertextuality in a broad sense refers to the totality of all knowledge that occurs between text and text, and between subject and subject. Therefore, the self-portrait expressed in text expands and derives various relationships between the viewer and the text, the viewer and the viewer, and the text and the text. In addition, this study shows that the proposed self-portrait can confirm the formativeness of text and re-create spatial and temporality in the external aspect. This dynamic self-portrait reflects the interests of viewers in real time, and has the characteristic of being updated and created.

  • This study is about the interactive self-portrait which provides the experience of self-consciousness reflection of the viewer to modern people who are easily alienated in rapid social change. We proposed interactive self-portrait is implemented by an interactive mirror that reproduces the appearance of the viewer acquired using a webcam. The interactive mirror, which can directly project its own image, is drawn by searching news articles in real time and using the extracted characters as pixel information in real time. The viewer has the opportunity to experience a new style of active self-expression while watching his/herself composed of news characters that are issues of modern society. The virtual self-portrait designed with news characters can attract viewers' attention by visually expressing the interests of modern people and can act as an incentive to generate positive interaction.

  • This paper qualitatively analyzes the stereo 3D content factors causing viewer's discomfort. For this, we perform a subjective test that each subject strokes a specific key whenever he or she feels discomfort during watching stereo 3D contents. Also we extract the quantitative values of the factors in the 3D contents to obtain the temporal changes of the factors. Those two sets of data are used to analyze the contents to find the content factors which cause viewer's discomfort. The factors to be considered are the amount and the frequency of the disparity change, story of the contents, situation or environments of a scene, movement and position of the image or camera, color and luminance information as well as disparities themselves. Most researches have dealt with each factor causing viewer's discomfort but this paper focuses on the composite factors rather than each of them. That is, this paper deals with the various strong and weak factors and their composites causing viewer's discomfort in addition to the big disparities which have been mostly so far.

  • The purpose of this study is to explain how a power group in a society forms features of sexuality in dress. As for the research methodology, first, historical research was undertaken to study in socioeconomic context in which sexuality has been formed and transformed. Second, demonstrative studies on sexual-image styles were undertaken through the analysis of pictures and photos. Third, analysis of the relationship between the power and sexuality in dress was done by literature research. Masculinity in dress, such as simplicity and concealment, corresponds to the attributes of the viewer, and femininity in dress, such as decoration and exposure, corresponds to the attributes of the viewee. Power struggle is the complex process of forming of the viewer-viewee relationship. The one who grasps the power becomes the viewer. In the shift from the Industrial Society to the Information and Technology Society, powers are horizontally spread over the society and the stereotype of sexuality in both women's and men's dress is fading out. In the field of design, standards and certainty described by absolute power are losing their importance. The 'chaotic' view of a world filled with mutual exchange of masculinity and femininity and uncertainty of sexuality will be sure to be a dominant trend in fashion.

  • A tiled display can present a high resolution image or real-sized 3D objects. It can be used fot effective collaboration by allowing multiple users to allocate their own spaces, which are used privately or shared with others. In this research, a collaborative viewer system, which allows manipulating 3D models, images and movie clips, was constructed on a distributed platform. This allows multiple users to manipulate different contents separately with various input devices. This paper describes an architecture and a prototype system built with the viewer.

  • In modern times, text has become an image, and typography is a style that is a combination of image and text that can be easily encountered in everyday life. It is developing not only for the purpose of conveying meaningful communication, but also to bring joy and beauty to our lives as a medium with aesthetic format. This study shows through case analysis that typography is a tool for expressing human emotions, and investigates its characteristics that change along with the media. In particular, interactive communication tools and methods used by interactive typography to express viewers' emotions are described in detail. We created interactive typography using the inputted text, the selected music by the viewer and the viewer's movement. As a result of applying it to the exhibition, we could confirm that interactive typography can function as an effective communication medium that shows the utility of both the iconography of letter signs and the cognitive function when combined with the audience's intentional motion.
