Many motion object detection algorithms rely on the process of background subtraction, an important technique that is used for detecting changes from a model of the background scene. This paper propose a novel method to update the background model image of a visual surveillance system which is not stationary. In order to do this, we use a background model based on statistical qualities of monitored images and another background model that excluded motions. By comparing each changed area computed from the two background model images and current monitored image, the areas that will be updated are decided.
Foreground/background segmentation in video sequences is often one of the first tasks in machine vision applications, making it a critical part of the system. In this paper, we present an improved sample-based technique that provides robust background image as well as segmentation mask. The conventional multiple interval sampling (MIS) algorithm have suffer from the unbalance of computation time per frame and the rapid change of confidence factor of background pixel. To balance the computation amount, a random-based pixel update scheme is proposed and a spatial and temporal smoothing technique is adopted to increase reliability of the confidence factor. The proposed method allows the sampling queue to have more dispersed data in time and space, and provides more continuous and reliable confidence factor. Experimental results revealed that our method works well to estimate stable background image and the foreground mask.

Steganographic schemes which are based on minimizing an additive distortion function defined the overall impacts after embedding as the sum of embedding costs for individual image element. However, mutual impacts during embedding are often ignored. In this paper, an adaptive JPEG steganographic method based on weight distribution for embedding costs is proposed. The method takes mutual impacts during embedding in consideration. Firstly, an analysis is made about the factors that affect embedding fluctuations among JPEG coefficients. Then the Distortion Update Strategy (DUS) of updating the distortion costs is proposed, enabling to dynamically update the embedding costs group by group. At last, a kind of adaptive JPEG steganographic algorithm is designed combining with the update strategy and well-known additive distortion function. The experimental result illustrates that the proposed algorithm gains a superior performance in the fight against the current state-of-the-art steganalyzers with high-dimensional features.
As the use of vehicle route application and LBS(location based service) are fast grew, the importance of maintaining road network data is also increased. To maintain road data accuracy, we can collect road data by driving real roads with probe vehicle, or using digital image processing for the extraction of roads from aerial imagery. After compare the new road data to current database, we can update the road database, but that job is mostly time and money consuming or can be inaccurate. In this paper, an updating method of using GPS(global positioning system) enabled cell phone is proposed. By using GPS phone, we can update road database easily and sufficiently accurately.
This paper propose a target tracker using phase correlation. The tracker consist of a pre-processing module, a translation estimation module based on phase correlation, a fine motion estimation module applied when confidence rate could not fulfill a threshold value and a reference image update module. The fine motion estimation module measure the shift, rotation and scale of input image compared to reference using Fourier-Mellin transform. Proposed tracker was tested its accuracy and robustness using some real indoor and outdoor image sequences.

Conventional methods of automatically recording Go game positions do not properly consider obstacles (hand or object) on a Go board during the Go game. If the Go board is blocked by obstacles, the position of a Go stone may not be correctly recognized, or the sequences of moves may be stored differently from the actual one. In the proposed algorithm, only the complete Go board image without obstacles is stored as a background image and the obstacle is recognized by comparing the background image with the current input image. To eliminate the phenomenon that the shadow is mistaken as obstacles, this paper proposes the new obstacle detection method based on the gradient image instead of the simple differential image. When there is no obstacle on the Go board, the background image is updated. Finally, the successive background images are compared to recognize the position and type of the Go stone. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has more than 95% recognition rate in general illumination environment.

Currently, 54 kinds of digital maps are provided by National Geographic Information Clearinghouse and the majority of those maps are based on aerial photographs or satellite image. The digital maps which symbolize and simplifies the topography and objects from ortho-photos does not reflect the objects 'shapes and facilities' changes. Especially, underground structures and complex building shapes are not correctly identifies by ortho-photos. Furthermore, the 1/1,000 and 1/500-1/2,500 maps for urban area produced by some local government or public organizations have detailed information with high precision, it is not easy to update the information due to the frequent changes of structures in the city. Although some efforts to solve this problem such as conducting field survey and shorten the survey period were tried, it is not the fundamental solution due to the high cost. Therefore, in this study, a realtime renewal and update of digital map using general survey are suggested. By assigning absolute coordinates to the general survey products and matching with digital maps, it is possible to update the digital map economically and rapidly. In addition, it is suggested that the construction of DB for general survey and sharing among survey companies to solve the duplicated survey.

Runway released an updated version, Gen-2, in March 2023, which introduced new features that are different from Gen-1: it can convert text and images into videos, or convert text and images together into video images based on text instructions. This update will be officially open to the public in June 2023, so more people can enjoy and use their creativity. With this new feature, users can easily transform text and images into impressive video creations. However, as with all new technologies, comes the instability of AI, which also affects the results generated by Runway. This article verifies the feasibility of using Runway to generate the desired video from several aspects through personal practice. In practice, I discovered Runway generation problems and propose improvement methods to find ways to improve the accuracy of Runway generation. And found that although the instability of AI is a factor that needs attention, through careful adjustment and testing, users can still make full use of this feature and create stunning video works. This update marks the beginning of a more innovative and diverse future for the digital creative field.
This paper outlines the development of image processing system, which will allow the general users in Government and Public organizations easily to use and apply KOMPSAT EOC images in their own business. The system includes an import/export module of EOC image distributed in Hierarchical Data Format (HDF) file and various image processing analysis modules. Especially, the image mosaic and subset functions are designed to use EOC image as an image map, generating the Ortho-image module. To update the various spatial data with EOC image, some essential modules such as change detection by pattern recognition, overlay between images and vector data, and modification of vector data are implemented in the system. The system is developed based on the user request analysis of government agency, and suited for more efficient use of satellite image in public applications. Such system is expected to contribute to practical application of KOMPSAT-2 that will be launched in 2005. Further efforts will be made to accommodate the KOMPSAT -2 MSC data.

This paper suggests an efficient method which tracks articulated human body modeled with markov network using disparity map derived from stereo images. The conventional methods which only use color information to calculate likelihood for energy function tend to fail when background has same colors with objects or appearances of object are changed during the movement. In this paper, we present a method evaluating likelihood with both disparity information and color information to find human body parts. Since the human body part are cylinder projected to rectangles in 2D image plane, we use the properties of distribution of disparity of those rectangles that do not have discontinuous distribution. In addition to that we suggest a conditional-messages-update that is able to reduce unnecessary message update of belief propagation. Since the message update has comprised over 80% of the whole computation in belief propagation, the conditional-message-update yields 9~45% of improvements of computational time. Furthermore, we also propose an another speed up method called three dimensional dynamic models assumed the body motion is continuous. The experiment results show that the proposed method reduces the computational time as well as it increases tracking accuracy.
