  • In this paper, digital holographic data storage system is implemented to record and retrieve the color images using new direct access method and binary image processing. As a result of applying image processing via a proposed direct access method, we can reduce the number of data page than binary image processing using raw file and replay color image of resolution of $128{\times}80{\times}256$ (6.6KB). Also it is showed that the input data can be transformed into digital holograms regardless of any kinds of file such as character data, moving picture. etc.

  • In this paper, when users choose a query image, we implemented a content-based image retrieval system that users can simply choose and extract a object region of query wanted with not only a whole image but various objects in it. Histogram is obtained by improved HSV transformations from query image and then candidate images are retrieved rapidly by a 1st similarity measure with histogram intersection using representative colors of query image. And finally retrieved images are extracted since 2nd similarity measure with banded autocorrelogram is performed so that recall and precision are improved by combining two retrieval methods that can make up for respective weak points. Moreover images in the database are indexed automatically within feature library that makes possible to retrieve images rapidly.

  • An image retrieval method combining shape information of 2-dimension color histograms with color information of HSI color histograms is proposed in this paper. In addition, the proposed method can find location information of image through the comparison of similarity among subimages. The suggested retrieval method applies the location information to shape and color information and can retrieve region information which is hard to distinguish in the binary image. Some simulation results show that it works very well in the behalf of precision/recall graph compare with conventional method which uses color histogram. Especially, the proposed method brought well effects such as rotations and transitions of the objects in an image was found.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to search the evidence such as a knife found in the crime scene based on GHT from an image database Such objects like knives are simitar in shape. The proposed method utilizes the small shape differences among objects as much as possible to distinguish an object from similar shaped objects. It consists of the GHT based candidate generation and top-down candidate verification. For the fast generation of the candidate 1ist, the GHT operation is performed un the down sampled edge list. The test results show that it can retrieve the correct object even with a pan of object in reasonable time.

  • This paper proposed a system collecting image information by agents in multi-threaded environment and then retrieving them with content based image retrieval. This system uses multi threads to retrieve web information effectively, then improves efficiency of CPU cycles to reduce latency time, which is the time requesting queries, executing communication processing 4hat the retrieval agents perform and filtering the retrieval results. Also, the agents for image retrieval use Java language, which is platform independent, to be suitable for distributed environment. Using JDBC to save the retrieved images, the agents are connected to database. The images themselves are stored in distributed agents' databases, and only the image indexes are stored in an index server so that the efficiency of storage and retrieval time can be improved.

  • This paper proposes a feature extraction method for sketch-based image retrieval of animation character. We extract the specific regions using the detection of scene change and correlation points between two frames, and the property of animation production. We detect the area of focused similar colors in extracted specific region. And it is used as feature descriptor for image retrieval that focused color(FC) of regions, size, relation between FCs. Finally, an user can retrieve the similar character using property of animation production and user's sketch as a query Image.

  • This paper proposes an efficient photo retrieval system that automatically indexes for searching of relevant images, using a combination of geo-coded information, direction/location of image capture device and content-based visual features. A photo image is labeled with its GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates and direction of the camera view at the moment of capture, and the label leads to generate a geo-spatial index with three core elements of latitude, longitude and viewing direction. Then, content-based visual features are extracted and combined with the geo-spatial information, for indexing and retrieving the photo images. For user's querying process, the proposed method adopts two steps as a progressive approach, filtering the relevant subset prior to use a content-based ranking function. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we assess the simulation performance in terms of average precision and F-score, using a natural photo collection. Comparing the proposed approach to retrieve using only visual features, an improvement of 20.8% was observed. The experimental results show that the proposed method exhibited a significant enhancement of around 7.2% in retrieval effectiveness, compared to previous work. These results reveal that a combination of context and content analysis is markedly more efficient and meaningful that using only visual feature for image search.

  • In this paper, hierarchical retrieval system based on efficient feature extraction is proposed. In order to retrieval the image with robustness for geometrical transformation such as translation, scaling, and rotation. After performing the 2-level wavelet transform on image, We extract moment in low-level subband which was subdivided into subimages and texture feature, contrast of GLCM(Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix). At first we retrieve the candidate images in database by the ones of image. To perform a more accurate image retrieval, the edge information on the high-level subband was subdivided horizontally, vertically and diagonally. And then, the energy rate of edge per direction was determined and used to compare the energy rate of edge between images for higher accuracy.

  • Projection that can be used as a feature for image representation, includes much available informations such as approximated shape and location. But when we retrieve image using it, there are some disadvantage such as requiring much index data and making different length of projected vector for differenr image size. In order to overcome these problems, we propose a method of using block variance for the projected vector. We use block variance of the projection vector to localize the characteristics of image and to reduce the number of index data in database. Proposed algorithm can make use of statistical advantage through database including various size of images and be executed with fast response time in implementation.

  • In order to retrieve images with different emotions in regions of the images, this paper proposes the image retrieval system using emotion sketch. The proposed retrieval system divides an image into $17{\times}17$ sub-regions and extracts emotion features in each sub-region. In order to extract the emotion features, this paper uses emotion colors on 160 emotion words from H. Nagumo's color scheme imaging chart. We calculate a histogram of each sub-region and consider one emotion word having the maximal value as a representative emotion word of the sub-region. The system demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed emotion sketch and our experimental results show that the system successfully retrieves on the Corel image database.
