  • The conventional wavelet-based fractal image coding has the disadvantage that the encoding takes a long time, since each range block finds the best domain in the image. In this Paper, we propose wavelet-based fractal image coding using SAS(Self Affine System) method and multi-scale factor. It consists of the range and domain blocks in DWT(discrete wavelet transform) region. Using SAS method, the proposed method is that the searching process of the domain block is not required, and the range block selects the domain which is relatively located the same position in the upper level. The proposed method can perform a fast encoding by reducing the computational complexity in the encoding process. In order to improve the disadvantage of SAS method which is reduced image qualify, the proposed method is improved image qualify using the different scale factors for each level. As a result, there is not influence on an image quality, the proposed method is enhanced the encoding time and compression ratio, and it is able to the progressive transmission.

  • This paper addresses the factors hindering the image quality of lines in inkjet printed on polyester fabric as printing media. Lines were printed onto different types of polyester fabrics in warp and filling directions. Line image quality including line width, edge blurriness, and edge raggedness was assessed. The effect of capillary wicking on line image quality of printed spun polyester fabric is discussed. The factors on the image quality include printing position(top of the yam or between the yarn), printing direction(warp or filling), yarn structures(filament or spun), thread size(yam or fiber), finishing, and ink properties(evaporation rate). More than 30% differences in image quality results were observed by changing the printing location on the spun polyester fabric. The best results of the image quality were obtained with the printed plain and spun polyester fabrics. The fiber sizes may affect capillary size; therefore, the image quality can be dissimilar. Types of finishing materials and inks greatly improve the line image quality on spun polyester fabrics.

  • One of the most significant characteristics of JPEG2000. the emerging still image standards. is the ROI (Region of Interest) coding. JPEG2000 provides a number of ROI coding mechanisms and ROI parameters. To apply them to an application, it must select the applicable values. In this paper, we evaluate how the ROI coding mechanisms and the ROI parameters influencing JPEG2000 qualify affect the ROI quality and the whole image quality. The ROI coding mechanisms are Maxshift and Implicit. and the parameters are tile size and ROI size, codeblock size, number of DWT decomposition levels and ROI importance. The bigger the tile size, the better the quality. The bigger the ROI size, the ROI importance and the number of DWT decomposition levels, the worse the qualify. In code block $32{\times}32$ of Maxshift and Implicit, it has the best qualify.

  • This paper addresses factors of line image quality on grain leather printed via inkjet printer. Lines were printed onto coated leather media, and line width, edge blurriness, and edge raggedness were evaluated for line image quality. Various factors influenced to wetting and capillary wicking were studied and found out that wicking through capillary between fibers causes significant feathering on leather surface similar with pulp capillary in copy Paper. Polyurethane and acrylic resin coating resulted good image qualify by reducing capillary wicking. The mixture of polyurethane and acrylic resin applied on grain leather satisfied with both image quality and surface hand. $AllWrite^{TM}$ ink brought best results of image quality, comparing with $VeraPrint^{TM}$ ink and $JetWrite^{TM}$ ink.

  • The proposed scheme provides a scheme to preview the whole image contents of low quality JPEG coded image without license and to select image quality as required. Therefore, users can confirm the image contents from low quality image without paying for previewing it and then, can see the best quality image by paying for the additional qualify of the image. The proposed scheme in this paper can be able to provide quality graded services as requested as well as protecting environment of intellectual property of digital contents.

  • This study is aimed to improve the quality of image fusion results through shadow effects correction. For this, shadow effects correction algorithm is proposed and visual comparisons have been made to estimate the quality of image fusion results. The following four steps have been performed to improve the image fusion qualify First, the shadow regions of satellite image are precisely located. Subsequently, segmentation of context regions is manually implemented for accurate correction. Next step, to calculate correction factor we compared the context region with the same non-shadow context region. Finally, image fusion is implemented using collected images. The result presented here helps to accurately extract and interpret geo-spatial information from satellite imagery.

  • This paper has presented to the design results of the analog and digital signal processor for the 2nd generation thermal imaging system using $480\times6$ infrared focal plane array In order to correct non-uniformities of detector arrays, we have developed the 2-point correction method using the thermo electric cooler. Additionally, to enhance the image of low contrast and improve the detection capability, we developed the new technique of histogram processing being suitable for the characteristics of contrast distribution of thermal imagery. Through these image processing techniques, we obtained a high qualify thermal image and acquired good result.

  • In this paper, we propose a coding method to improve compression efficiency for MR image. This can be achieved by combining coding and segmentation scheme which removes noisy background region, which is meaningless for diagnosis, in MR image. The wavelet coder encodes only diagnostically significant foreground regions refering to segmentation map. Our proposed algorithm provides about 15% of bitrate reduction when compared with the same coder which is not combined with segmentation scheme. And the proposed scheme shows better reconstructed image Qualify than JPEG at the same compression ratio.

  • In this paper, we propose the color image enhancement method to improve the quality of color image without producing over-saturation and color contour artifacts. The proposed method has two manners, which one is the adaptive cumulative density function and the other is the luminance-based saturation extension. That is focused on a preference color processing in order to generate better image qualify than the algorithms focused on a uniform one for human vision.

  • This paper proposes a novel fractal coding method for fast encoding and high compression to shorten time to take on fractal encoding by using limited search area. First. the original image is contracted respectively by half and by quarter with the scaling method and bit-plane method. And then, the corresponding domain block of the quarter-sized image which is most similar with one range block of the half-sized image is searched within the limited area in order to reduce the encoding time extremely. As the result of the evaluation, the proposed algorithm provided much shorter encoding time and better compression ratio with a little degradation of the decoded image qualify than Jacquin's method.
