A DoF-Based Efficient Image Abstraction (피사계 심도를 고려한 효율적인 이미지 추상화)

  • In this paper, we present a non-photorealistic rendering technique that automatically delivers a stylized abstraction of a photograph with DoF(Depth of field). Our approach is a new filtering method that efficiently classifies DoF regions using RGB channels and automatically adjusts the color abstraction and extracted line quality based on this classification. This DoF-based filtering is simple, fast, and easy to implement and significantly improves the abstraction performance in terms of feature enhancement and stylization.

A Method for Tree Image Segmentation Combined Adaptive Mean Shifting with Image Abstraction

  • Although huge progress has been made in current image segmentation work, there are still no efficient segmentation strategies for tree image which is taken from natural environment and contains complex background. To improve those problems, we propose a method for tree image segmentation combining adaptive mean shifting with image abstraction. Our approach perform better than others because it focuses mainly on the background of image and characteristics of the tree itself. First, we abstract the original tree image using bilateral filtering and image pyramid from multiple perspectives, which can reduce the influence of the background and tree canopy gaps on clustering. Spatial location and gray scale features are obtained by step detection and the insertion rule method, respectively. Bandwidths calculated by spatial location and gray scale features are then used to determine the size of the Gaussian kernel function and in the mean shift clustering. Furthermore, the flood fill method is employed to fill the results of clustering and highlight the region of interest. To prove the effectiveness of tree image abstractions on image clustering, we compared different abstraction levels and achieved the optimal clustering results. For our algorithm, the average segmentation accuracy (SA), over-segmentation rate (OR), and under-segmentation rate (UR) of the crown are 91.21%, 3.54%, and 9.85%, respectively. The average values of the trunk are 92.78%, 8.16%, and 7.93%, respectively. Comparing the results of our method experimentally with other popular tree image segmentation methods, our segmentation method get rid of human interaction and shows higher SA. Meanwhile, this work shows a promising application prospect on visual reconstruction and factors measurement of tree.

The Edge Selection Algorithm for Efficient Optical Image Matching (효율적인 광학 영상 정합을 위한 에지 선택 알고리즘)

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose new techniques to match measured optical images by using the edge abstraction method and differentiation method based on image processing technology. To do this, we detect the matching template and non-matching template from each optical image. And then, we detect the edge parts of the overlaped image from comer edge abstraction method and remove noise image. At last, these data are related to applied first-order derivative operator. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • The purpose of this study was to review the previous researches, analyze the clothing image, the make-up image and compare the analyses of clothing image and make-up image. The previous researches of clothing image and make-up image were reviewed in 6 kinds of Journal. The results of previous research review and analysis were followed as : Measuring mean of image are used to similarly that semantic differential technique and summated rating technique. Attention to proposed researcher abstraction image in make-up image, but there is problem that this hard to explain objectivity of image abstraction. There are a lot of occasions that 4 or 5 image factors were extracted by factor analysis. The make-up image researches that presented image stimulus were more than study that do not present. Image words were classified which were compiled words have similar sub image. Grace, activeness, lively. unique, modernity attractive, feminine. sexy and ripeness clothing images were classified factors. which were representative clothing image. Elegance, Sophisticate. romantic, natural, modern and youthfulness make-up image for factor were representative make-up image factors. However the problems were found that some representative image factor included the sub images which were different from some factor image. Compared with representation image words, same image words were used to not agree what clothing image and make-up image. Standardization of word should be made that show that clothing image and make-up image.

Abstraction Mechanism of Low-Level Video Features for Automatic Retrieval of Explosion Scenes (폭발장면 자동 검출을 위한 저급 수준 비디오 특징의 추상화)

  • This paper proposes an abstraction mechanism of the low-level digital video features for the automatic retrievals of the explosion scenes from the digital video library. In the proposed abstraction mechanism, the regional dominant colors of the key frame and the motion energy of the shot are defined as the primary abstractions of the shot for the explosion scene retrievals. It is because an explosion shot usually consists of the frames with a yellow-tone pixel and the objects in the shot are moved rapidly. The regional dominant colors of shot are selected by dividing its key frame image into several regions and extracting their regional dominant colors, and the motion energy of the shot is defined as the edge image differences between key frame and its neighboring frame. The edge image of the key frame makes the retrieval of the explosion scene more precisely, because the flames usually veils all other objects in the shot so that the edge image of the key frame comes to be simple enough in the explosion shot. The proposed automatic retrieval algorithm declares an explosion scene if it has a shot with a yellow regional dominant color and its motion energy is several times higher than the average motion energy of the shots in that scene. The edge image of the key frame is also used to filter out the false detection. Upon the extensive exporimental results, we could argue that the recall and precision of the proposed abstraction and detecting algorithm are about 0.8, and also found that they are not sensitive to the thresholds. This abstraction mechanism could be used to summarize the long action videos, and extract a high level semantic information from digital video archive.

Interval Hough Transform For Prominent Line Detection (배경선 추출을 위한 구간 허프 변환)

  • The prominent line at the singe image is the important fact for understanding spatial structure or estimating aesthetic scoring. According to this thesis, the abstraction of the background line helps analyzing vanishing point, reconstitution of 3 dimensions, and determining of image sloppiness. It also makes easy to calculate the rule of thirds. This thesis is composed of section hough transform mapping, prioritizing of the prominent line, and selection of the prominent line. These technologies are departmentalized to be applied abstraction of traffic lane, analyzing of building structure, abstraction of vanishing point, and abstraction of straight line documentation. This gives the choice that users are able to compose technology by considering characteristic of objects and luminous environment. This thesis also can be applied to abstract circle. The interval hough transform is able to select the number of prominent line which users want to abstract. It can analyze important prominent line numbers at the image and then abstract the lines, too. Results of prominent lines by experiments would be show at this thesis.

Wild Image Object Detection using a Pretrained Convolutional Neural Network

  • This paper reports a machine learning approach for image object detection. Object detection and localization in a wild image, such as a STL-10 image dataset, is very difficult to implement using the traditional computer vision method. A convolutional neural network is a good approach for such wild image object detection. This paper presents an object detection application using a convolutional neural network with pretrained feature vector. This is a very simple and well organized hierarchical object abstraction model.

  • This paper proposes the method of image cartooning, that makes cartoon-like images of a target, using reference images. We deform a target image using pre-defined reference images. For this deformation, we extract feature points from the target image by Active Appearance Model(AAM) and apply the warping method to the target using feature points of target and feature points of reference image as a basis of warping function. We create simplified cartoon-like images by abstraction of the deformed target image and drawing of edges and quantization of luminance of the abstracted image. Two main concept of cartoon(exaggeration and simplification) is inhered in this method when we use a exaggerated cartoon image as a reference image. It is possible for this method to create various results by control of warping and change of reference image.

Early Abstract Paintings of Yoo Youngkuk (유영국의 초기 추상, 1937~1949)

  • Yoo Youngkuk started his career as an artist when he entered Bunkagakuin of Tokyo in 1935 he actively participated in the Japanese art scene as a young Korean artist until 1943. In his earliest works, Rhapsody and Work B, Surrealist and abstract influences are manifested as these were prevalent in Japan at the time. With the exception of Rhapsody and Work B, all works available that were executed between 1937 and 1940 are abstract, which points to the fact that Yoo intended abstraction from the beginning. Surviving works in relief suggest his early style was founded on the abstractions similar to Russian Avant-Garde, Neo-plasticism and Bauhaus simplicity. His early abstractions were not the ideational images derived in the process of the abstraction of the representational image, but they arose from the constructive attitude in composing the already stylized non-representational geometries. It is worth noting that his early emphasis was on the pure and absolute geometric abstraction, rather than the images motivated from the figurative representation. Yoo differentiates himself from Kim Whan Ki in the following aspects: one, he eliminated the subject matter i.e. human figures and the nature; two, he maintained the constructivist attitude in creating a strict and absolute abstraction; three, he experimented with different styles without combining them. He manifests direct influences from the prevalent Western art influences, such as Futurism and Russian Avant-Garde, unlike Kim who vaguely references. In both paintings and reliefs, Yoo's attempt in the realization of the pictorial depth and space seems cerebral and conceptualized compared with the other artists of the time who resolved abstraction via the constructive dimension. Uemura, a contemporary critic to the geometric abstractions in Japan, disapproves the stylistic bent in the adaptation of the abstract painting without the comprehension of its spiritual movement. As witnessed in other criticisms as well, contemporary Japanese critics' interest lie mainly in the superficial observation such as the presence of representational elements, composition and use of color.   • A Tile Map Service is a regular map service that has been enhanced to serve maps very quickly using a cache of static images. The map cache is a directory that contains image tiles of a map extent at specific scale levels. Returning a tile from the cache takes the server much less time than drawing the map image on demand. Use of a Tile Map Service can dramatically improve the time that clients take to display complex base-maps. Using Tile Map Services thus eliminate the need to trade quality for performance. This study provides a way to construct Tile Map Service System using Open Source GIS. We used GDAL(Geospatial Data Abstraction Library) which is one of the Open Source GIS Softwares to make Tile Map Image and OpenLayers to publish Web Page. Moreover, We conducted a performance test on Tile Map System and Dynamic Map System and evaluated the results of it. As a result, the proposed method makes it easier to construct high performance Tile Map Service using Open Source GIS without commercial products.
