A Research on Korea's National Image Framing in the People's Daily (2009-2019): Under the Frame of CDA

  • Since 2008, strategic partnerships have been established between China and Korea. From 2009 to 2019, the bilateral relationship kept a generally stable rate of development with conflicts and uncertainties. It is necessary to study national image construction in the respective mainstream media of the two countries. The present study analyzed Korea-related reports (N = 744) in the People's Daily from 2009 to 2019, aiming to examine the Korean national image framing under Fairclough's three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework: "whatness," "how," and "whyness." The results shed light on what the Korean national image in the People's Daily was and how and why it was framed in that way. This study provided some implications for readers to further recognize the role that media play in constructing a particular image of one country and a frame for researchers to study foreign national image framing in one of China's mainstream newspapers.

  • 본 연구는 부산광역시 블로그 '쿨부산'을 대상으로 지자체 PR커뮤니케이션이 지자체와 공중간의 관계성과 지자체 이미지에 미치는 영향과 조직-공중관계성의 매개역할을 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 소셜 미디어 정보특성 중 '상호작용성'과 '흥미성'은 조직-공중관계성과 지자체 이미지에 유의한 정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 조직-공중관계성의 하위요인들 중 '균형성'이 지자체 이미지에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 지자체 소셜 미디어 정보특성의 지자체 이미지에 대한 영향력에 있어 조직-공중관계성의 매개역할이 입증되었다.

A Preliminary Examination on the Multimedia Information Needs and Web Searches of College Students in Korea

  • Multimedia searching is an important activity on the Web, especially among the younger generation. The purpose of this study aims to examine college students’ multimedia information needs and searching on the Internet. While there is a clear pattern among students with respect to their multimedia uses, searching sources, relevance criteria and searching barriers, some differences exist especially according to searching of different multimedia types such as image, audio and video. For multimedia uses, information/data-focused uses are frequently found in image and video, while the use of audio is mainly for object-focused searches. As multimedia searching sources, audio and video files present a similar pattern of being high in media specific searching sources and low in generic search engines. Browsing through related blogs and homepages is an important part of searching for media files accounting for approximately 20% of total search for each media. The relevance criteria used by study participants when search for image files was primarily concerned with topicality while the contextual and media quality in the audio and video types are also considered important. Searching barriers for audio and video files are categorized into three broad aspects, including access and search quality, preview limitations and collection limitations, while obstacles for image files searching include access difficulties and low qualities of various collection.

  • Language and letter are represented by a combination of its signifier and signified. All symblos are commonly calling direct attention to people who are living in the physical world. However, in cyberspace, the image takes control once inhabited by the language. Cyberspace with anonymity and deoent physical nature has something with physical laws. In this space the statue transcends the imaginary realm. Ideology gives a greater connotation by giving a series of regulation to images floating in cyberspace. Even if various media have the same image, the meaning of the image changes depending on which ideology is used. The impact of this on the public is great. In this study, I discuss the ideology in cyberspace where is supposedly wide open to who visits and spreads all the thoughts without suppression and the human body. The main ideas would be who owns the ideology and what does it want to control and how the people would react to the ideology. This paper would eventually head the prototype that visualizes above ideas. Though the interactive media it will also show the subject in the real world is accept the images floating in the cyberspace without any doubts.

남성의 소셜 미디어 셀피 활동과 근육 및 신체 지방 불만족에 관한 연구 (A Study Investigating the Relationships between Selfie Practices on Social Media, Muscularity and Body Fat Dissatisfaction among Young Korean Men)

  • Selfie practices on social media can result in negative body image for men. The current study investigated the dual body image pathway model for the relationship between selfie practices on social media and body satisfaction, with internalization as a mediator. Structural equation modeling analyses supported our research model when studying 446 young Korean male Instagram users. The results indicated that selfie editing behavior, but not selfie browsing behavior, significantly predicted an increased internalization of a body ideal. The positive associations between internalization, muscularity dissatisfaction, and body fat dissatisfaction were confirmed. Additionally, the indirect effects of selfie editing behavior on muscularity and body fat dissatisfaction due to internalization were significant. The study confirmed the detrimental effects of selfie behavior on body satisfaction for male social media users. The results provided valuable information that selfie editing may be a risky behavior since it can result in developing muscularity and body fat dissatisfaction. Theoretical contributions and practical implications were discussed. Future research should address the age and cultural differences that may elucidate the impacts of selfie practices on men's body image concerns.

미디어 노출 신체이미지와 탄막 이용이 다이어트 의도에 미치는 영향 -중국 비리비리(Bilibili) 동영상 사이트를 중심으로 (Effect of Exposure to Body Image in Media and Bullet Screen on Weight Loss Intention - Focused on Bilibili, a Video Sharing Website of China)

  • 본 연구에서는 중국의 대표적인 탄막 동영상 사이트인 비리비리(Bilibili)를 중심으로 미디어 노출 신체이미지와 탄막의 이용이 다이어트 의도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 20대 중국인 여성 310명을 대상으로 온라인 실험 연구가 진행되었으며, 3 (탄막 여부: 탄막 없음 vs. 신체이미지 칭찬하는 탄막 vs. 신체이미지 비판하는 탄막) x 2 (미디어 노출 신체이미지: 이상적 vs. 현실적) 피험자 간 설계로 이루어졌다. 주요 연구 결과를 살펴보면, 이상적인 신체이미지를 칭찬하는 탄막과 현실적인 신체이미지를 비판하는 탄막에서 시청자의 다이어트 의도가 더 강하게 나타났다. 더 나아가, 시청자의 다이어트 의도는 현실적인 신체이미지를 탄막 없이 볼 때보다 이상적인 신체이미지를 탄막과 같이 볼 때, 그리고 현실적인 신체이미지를 비판하는 탄막을 볼 때보다 이상적인 신체이미지를 칭찬하는 탄막을 볼 때 더 강하게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 사회적 시청의 방식 중 하나로서의 탄막의 이용과 수용자의 행동 의도에 미치는 영향을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

  • 스테레오 영상에서 관찰자의 위치 변화는 왜곡 발생의 주요 원인이다. 특히, 디스플레이 장치의 중심을 기준으로 한 관찰자의 회전 이동은 관찰자 양안의 수평위치가 다르므로 수평, 전후 이동과는 다른 스테레오 영상의 왜곡이 크게 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 전산모사를 통하여 관찰자의 회전이동에 의한 왜곡을 분석하였고 왜곡 보정결과도 보였다. 마지막으로 관찰자의 회전이동과 수평, 전후 이동의 왜곡형태를 비교를 통하여 두 이동에서 나타나는 왜곡의 형태가 다름을 보였다.

이상적인 남성의 신체에 대한 연예인의 소셜 미디어 압박이 내면화와 근육 불만족에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Celebrities' Social Media Pressure on Internalization and Muscularity Dissatisfaction among Men)

  • This study investigated the impact of appearance pressure from celebrities' social media upon internalization of mesomorphic ideal and muscularity dissatisfaction and the moderating role of time spent on social media in the relationships among variables in a sample of young Korean men (N=247). Those men who regularly participate in physical activities more than three times a week were included in our sample. Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that celebrities' social media pressure directly influenced both internalization and muscularity dissatisfaction, and internalization predicted muscularity dissatisfaction. A significant mediating effect of internalization in the relationships between celebrities' social media pressure and muscularity dissatisfaction was found. However, the moderating effect of time spent on social media was not found. The present results highlight the significant and negative effects of celebrities' social media on male's body image perception. By comparing the results of this study to previous studies, we can anticipate that the effects of social media on users' body image concerns can differ between male and female in the matter of time spent on social media. Implications of the study results and suggestions for future studies are discussed.

딥러닝 기반의 대퇴골 영역 분할을 위한 훈련 데이터 증강 연구 (Data Augmentation Method for Deep Learning based Medical Image Segmentation Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 CT 영상의 대퇴골 부위를 해부학적으로 의미 있게 변형하여 CT 영상의 대퇴골 영역을 분할하기 위한 컨벌루션 신경망(CNN)의 훈련 데이터를 증강하는 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 CT 영상으로부터 삼차원 삼각형 대퇴골 메쉬를 얻는다. 그 후 메쉬의 국소부위에 대한 기하학적 특성을 계산하고, 군집화하여 메쉬를 의미 있는 부분들로 분할한다. 마지막으로, 분할한 부분들을 적절한 알고리즘으로 변형한 뒤, 이를 바탕으로 CT 영상을 와핑하여 새로운 CT영상을 생성하였다. 본 연구의 데이터 증강 방법을 이용하여 학습시킨 딥러닝 모델은 기하학적 변환이나 색상 변환 같이 일반적으로 사용되는 데이터 증강법과 비교하여 더 나은 영상분할 성능을 보인다.
